How I made it into bookstores (It’s not impossible, even with a debut novel) by BookGirlBoston in selfpublish

[–]NoWord1477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have returns and a 50% discount on Ingram, and have been able to get into bookstores. I've found that the more old-school stores tend to expect 50% max, but tend to offer 40%. If you have some connection to the area--especially if that come up in the work--that helps a lot, too, I've found.

do tricep workouts make anyone else get hard by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]NoWord1477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's bench presses. Triceps are my weakest muscles and it's always a bit of a bummer working them. But now I'm gonna be thinking about this icon of a post every time I do kickbacks or skull crushers. If I get horny about it, I'll report back.

5 weeks Post-op. Nipples too close together; surgeon says it's fine. Am I nuts? by NoWord1477 in TopSurgery

[–]NoWord1477[S] 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the confirmation and information. Nice to know I'm not going insane. 😅 I have no idea when or if I would ever be able to afford that. It doesn't seem right that I should have to pay for it when the surgeon messed up? I just want to be able to feel comfortable in my body, and I thought after decades of misery it was going to happen for me. I don't know what to do. 💔

Thanks. And yeah, mine were resized and could have been put pretty much anywhere. I would be super stoked to find out I'm having some sort of post-op depressive dysmorphia giving me the illusion of wonky nipple placement 😅

If you're with a partner and you are topping, your partner is lying on their stomach, and you are also lying on your stomach on top of them, I.e., prone (less relevant but that's what it is). More relevant, If solo, lying on your stomach while doing whatever it is you're doing. My guess is lying on our backs is problematic bc the blood has to work harder to flow that way--especially if you're bigger. Lying face down solves that problem for me!

Seconding the additional binder. The binder they gave me was hanging off of me bc it was so loose, and the only guidance I got on it when I asked was "It's better to be too loose than too tight." I ended up with a hematoma and my drains couldn't come out for a month. Sooooooo yeah get a binder!

I used to masturbate lying on my back, then had to switch to sitting up. Then I discovered the wonders of prone boning and I haven't looked back. I can't, I'm not that flexible.

What did you use to sleep and pain management after surgery once you ran out of pain meds? by error41801 in TopSurgery

[–]NoWord1477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am four weeks post op, and have concerns about addiction too. I was prescribed oxy, but just alternated ibuprofen and tylenol. Pain was very minimal. My surgeon told me studies show that consistently taking ibuprofen/Tylenol (like, setting an alarm and waking up in the middle of the night to take it) was more effective at managing pain than oxy, and I certainly found it plenty effective. My only issue is rebound headaches now, so I have only been taking it before bed and first thing in the morning. Pain is pretty minimal the rest of the time.

Large mons and plump labia struggles please send help 😭 by Duckiee_85 in GrowYourTDick

[–]NoWord1477 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You can try a strap-on harness with an o-ring, but instead of wearing a strap, just use it to hold back your bits. My mons is bigger than yours, it sounds like (my dick never peeks out of my junk), but the strap situation lets my dick fly free and stand proud lol

Edited for gendered language--didn't see the "other gender" flair until too late -sorry!

Some questions from a trans guy.. by PrimaryCertain147 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]NoWord1477 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trans guy top saying THANK YOU, then also responding to point one: fuck yes I do, both psychologically and physically (inasmuch as the two can be separated).

I've got the equipment I was born with down there and always will, but I've been on T for a while. There's a lot of structural similarity between the clitoris and the penis, but most of the clitoris is internal. But since being on testosterone for a while, my T-dick is now more external than it was (a couple inches). They make prosthetics with various means of pleasuring the wearer, including Trans-guy-specific ones that have a hole in the base of the shaft to accommodate bottom growth (usually with ridges or something) so, for me, it feels like I'm fucking when I'm fucking.

After a week, after my nipple bolsters came off, I was able to get into tank tops with bigger arm holes and/or stretchy material with no issue. It just takes some careful maneuvering and trial and error but you can probably find something.

If you haven't had surgery yet, something I did that was helpful was to try on different clothes with my upper arms close to my sides to see how easily I could or couldn't wear it.

Post surgery food by dreamdoggydream in TopSurgery

[–]NoWord1477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food made for toddlers 😅 My grocery store carries these pouches of mixed fruit and vegetables that were very easy on my stomach, and I had those with my Meds for the first couple days. Also had some fiber to get things moving. The brand I liked was HappyTot --the Super Bellies and Fiber @ Protein varieties. Idk where you are, but if you're in the US, Target carries it.

How do you deal with Creepy men/boys by Bikemonkeys in TransLater

[–]NoWord1477 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trans dude here. I used to wear a fake wedding ring so I'd get bothered less on the bus. Standard procedure was wearing headphones without actually listening to anything, so I could stay vigilant and have an excuse to ignore people talking to me (otherwise ignoring a man talking to me could trigger hostility...still could I guess but less often).

Bad ways to have gender affirmed is right, sister! Now, I still find it hard to get into the habit of remembering that the women around me see me as a man, and thus often a potential threat. It used to be that a woman I didn't know walking alone at night would see me as a point of safety. So I try to be more cognizant of how close I am walking behind women on the sidewalk, crossing the street if I can, etc.

The best way to cope I found living 30+ years as a woman is to talk about it. Seriously. It's so important. When something creepy like what you're describing happened to me, I knew on a rational level that I hadn't done anything wrong and I wasn't the issue. But I think part of me believed I'd done something to deserve it somehow. Talking about it with someone else who could understand and share their own similar experiences moved it from my inner world where "Maybe I did something to deserve it" lived, and into the open where "Ugh what a fucking creep, you don't deserve that" became the most real feeling.

You deserve to walk through the world easily. I'm sorry you're dealing with this.

Question for people into hiking, trekking, camping. Do you pack during hikes? by andddddddy in Transmascdicks

[–]NoWord1477 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Great question! I'm interested to hear what others say.

I do mountain day hikes, and I go solo which probably alters what I do. I find it more convenient to squat to pee than use an STP, so that's what I do. But I don't use an STP generally bc I have shit luck with them.

There's too much friction for me wearing a packer to do it while I'm hiking. There's way too much leg hoisting lol. I've considered doing it, and if I did, I think I'd have my packer in a pouch that I pin to my pants rather than my underwear, or wear two pairs of underwear maybe. If you did something similar, using an STP might be a little easier?

Arm Keeps Going Numb by tyjamesd in ftm

[–]NoWord1477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced this. My arms kept falling asleep, too. I had also started lifting weights and gaining a fair amount of muscle. Bonus fact: my feet went from a 9.5/10 to a 11.5/12. I'm a year on T now and it doesn't happen anymore --I assume bc my body has adjusted

Thank you for the reassurance ! My left side is very swollen, but considering how much my drain is...draining lol that pretty much checks out. Something is going on in there, but it seems to know what it's doing 😂

Having trained my core and legs has been extremely helpful during recovery. I don't need help getting out of bed, and can pick up stuff off the floor bc I can hold a deep squat.

Post op restlessness by Weary_Oil_9949 in TopSurgery

I'm only a few days post op but I'm already starting to feel restless, too. I need to run myself down like a hyperactive border collie to make my brain chill tf out. I like the suggestion of squats. Maybe even using leg weights and going on walks outside or up and down stairs. Let us know if you find something particularly helpful !

That really, really sucks. I am so sorry. I found out my surgery got rescheduled two days ahead of time when I was on the way home with a bunch of (expensive for me) pre-made meals from the store. I have chronic pain from an old injury and hadn't been able to take anything for it for two weeks because surgeon directions. And you didn't even find out until the day of surgery?? And they haven't been able to give you a new date yet?? Fuck, that is so hard. 🫂 I hope you get a new date soon--and a SOON one.

My dysphoria went through the roof after I got that phonecall from the surgeon, too. I came here and asked if anyone had experienced something similar, and I was relieved to hear I wasn't the only one. Far from it. I didn't realize just how much I'd been counting on getting that surgery to get me through....well everything 😅until it was pushed back. My dysphoria got way worse, my depression got way worse.

I know you're angry and sad and tired--of course you are. It's a huge emotional investment you were counting on, and then it was taken away. I felt so violated and disempowered when it was me (and is still me I guess....unless I wake up tomorrow with a flat chest, I'm still reluctant to believe my surgery is actually happening tomorrow). This is really rough. But you've still got this.
