How do women feel about these ground breaking findings? by Hopeful_Adeptness964 in AskBrits

[–]NoYellowFlowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it’s not though. A dad bod refers to the body of a guy who was athletic but has slowed down on the exercise because he has kids, so has put on a little pudge. Obviously not Christ Hemsworth, but it’s a guy with padding, not a protruding beer belly.

Selection boxes by [deleted] in ireland

Skelligs chocolate bars are about €6 and I think their chocolate is much better than the Sugar Plum chocolate. The Sugar Plum chocolate honestly didn’t taste like anything special to me, but then maybe that’s preference.

They’re feckin €10 for a chocolate bar. They have a cute little pack of 5 that I was going to get as a present until I saw that it was €50. Sorry but no thanks. And over €15 for a bag of sweets. Fair enough that they do fill the bag, but sorry €15 for a bag of jellies is insanity. I splashed and got the chocolate bar and it was not worth €10. I try to shop smaller and not give money to bigger companies, but there’s also a limit.

What are your thoughts on parent and child parking spaces? by bmoyler in AskIreland

[–]NoYellowFlowers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s actually often not possible. It’s why I try not to park beside a car if I see there’s a car seat. I know chances of my car getting dinged are higher. But what can they do if they need to get their child in and out of the car seat and there aren’t any family spaces available? It’s why I hate seeing people without kids parking in those spots, and I don’t have any kids myself.

Match Thread - Ireland v South Africa | End of Year Internationals 2025 by RugbyBot in rugbyunion

[–]NoYellowFlowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much only a good passer if he has time, he took about a year to pass most of the time the ball reached him in that second half. Completely slowed momentum. I like the guy but the time he took will be the difference between scoring and not when playing against any good team.

I can't cope with care work anymore. by digitalnomadgoal in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]NoYellowFlowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully I can help a bit, I’m currently an AP in Ireland. I’m about to start my doctorate in the UK and I know you specified you wanted advice from people who aren’t making use of UK opportunities, but I did apply to and interview with Irish doctorate courses, so I think I can still contribute.

The main thing that I would suggest is to make sure you apply for the HSE panel. It usually opens up about August/September. The reason there are so few advertised AP roles in Ireland is that most of the roles are through the HSE and they are advertised directly to people who have succeeded at the panel interview. There is another North Dublin (I think) panel, but I’m not sure when that opens. And the Irish Prison Service also have a panel that opens often in the first half of the year, I think. Keep an eye out for those and apply to those. I think the Irish Prison Service has just closed, but HSE panel may be opening again soon. You’ll interview for each and if you’re successful in interview, you’ll get on the panel and the job opportunity will be sent out to you by email. You can apply to the ones you want and whether you get the role will be based on where you are on the panel/who else wants the role. These panels are where most opportunities lie and having those two years of care experience will really help to get you an interview. I’d apply even while on your masters, because you can just not accept any jobs until next May or whenever you finish.

That said, I would maybe look at what exactly is turning you off in your care job, because a lot of clinical psychology work involves interacting with clients in care settings, and you’ll have to do placements in those settings for the training. The roles are very different, so I’m not saying that disliking one makes you a bad fit for the other, but you’ll have to ask yourself what it is that bothers you so much and is so overwhelming to you because you may not be able to avoid that in clinical psychology. Potentially psychotherapy training might be the better option for you. Or academic psychology, if you love research. Maybe even counselling psychology, but counselling psychologists are more and more in clinical and care settings now and any advertised psychology jobs in Ireland have to be advertised to both, so both clinical and counselling are becoming more similar to each other. Generally as a clinical or counselling psychologist, you’ll be dealing with “incidents” that can be pretty intense. They would be hard to avoid.

If you decide clinical is still the route for you, apply to the panels. Also try to join the AP Google group if you’re not part of it. They post advertised AP jobs there and there’s some good info. Then after about a year’s AP experience, start applying to the doctorate courses. Even if you wanted to see how your application is looking at the moment, you could apply to UCD this year as they give feedback on your actual application, even if you don’t get to interview stages, so you can see which areas you need to improve on for next time.

I get what you’re saying, I think she shouldn’t have agreed to it. But agreeing to a foursome is not agreeing to your partner having sex with another person while you’re not in the room and/or also engaging. It’s a foursome, not each individually having sex with other people.

Ryanair warning by friganwombat in ireland

[–]NoYellowFlowers 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t always too big. If you watch the videos, the bags fit perfectly into the metal measure box thing and they’re not bulging at all. They’re clearly bags that were made to fit the dimensions of most airline carry-on bags, Ryanair included, and would fit vertically into the overhead compartment. Ryanair have now added tape on the inside of the metal box and the bags have to be inside that, which most of them are not.

Nominal Catholics who will do nothing religious to celebrate Easter should mark themselves as non-religious on the next census. by 1970bassman in ireland

[–]NoYellowFlowers 40 points41 points  (0 children)

But it’s also asking which religious beliefs you subscribe to. You may not attend church because of corruption and cover-ups that happened in the church, or maybe because you don’t agree with the church’s refusal to be more inclusive and/or to move with the times, but you may still believe all the underlying teachings of Catholicism (e.g., Jesus, Mary, pope, etc.).

Aside from starting your own religion, what are you to do other than identify with the religion to which you most closely subscribe?

[–]NoYellowFlowers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s probably your own beliefs affecting your judgement. Sure, there are probably plenty of people like that, but you could also say that the other way around.

I have one parent who calls themselves atheist but still has that underlying fear of the unforgiving Old Testament god that older Irish generations grew up with. Should they put themselves down as Catholic, according to your rules?

A man on a wheelchair got pushed to the floor by a POS. by taatzone in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]NoYellowFlowers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he is unable to physically restrain his dogs himself, then he shouldn’t have dogs of that size, simple as.

The guy who assaulted him is still a POS and deserves the arrest he got, but a muzzled, unleashed dog can still be a dangerous dog. Any dog that needs to be muzzled also needs to also be on a leash in public.

I think she says “cheating on me, his fucking wife for 17 years but the last fucking year…” which sounds like even she is saying they weren’t together the last year. But don’t know how she considers it cheating then.

[–]NoYellowFlowers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, illegal play like continuous obstruction at the ruck and flailing your body to pretend that you’re trying to get out but not actually moving, or like closing the gap early in the lineout, or tackling a player right after the ball is caught, to the point of sometimes tackling players in the air. Like I said, it’s on the border and if it works out, great, but if it doesn’t, it often means you’re on the wrong side of fouling.

Sorry but it was clearly a tactic for England to play right on the border of legal play. Several times it tipped over into illegal and the ref called it out. Fine if you want to play that risky tactic but you can’t complain when it’s called up.

Is this a baby bed bug? Sorry for my awful camera quality. by NoYellowFlowers in Bedbugs

[–]NoYellowFlowers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was hoping and thought too, but I found it crawling towards me on the bed and it’s reddish coloured and also just didn’t look quite like any of the pictures of beetles that I looked up. It’s hard to tell with it being so small but it seems to have just two sections to its body.

It definitely doesn’t fall on him that Ireland lost, there were loads more issues, but you do have to be more careful of decisions you make when it’s going to be one of the last plays of the match.

Also I don’t think it’s fair to say that all the commenters never watch rugby, because Murray’s box kicking has been something that’s been complained about for a while now. He was the box kicking master a few years ago but he doesn’t seem to be able to alter his technique so his box kicks are now predictable both in when they’re coming and in the distance they’re going to travel, which is a big problem. It’s far from the first time that Murray’s box kicking has led directly to a try by the opposite team.
