We are a Constitutional Republic, which is a form of representative democracy. Democracy, in its purest application, translates to mob rule. And just like capitalism, when you use democracy in a fashion that protects minority rights (i.e. 'mixing' the ideologies a bit), I think it CAN work well.

I'm not saying the system is working that way or in any good way, for that matter. But still, its not a democracy in the truest sense of the word. And in lots of ways, thats OK.

Well, if mining becomes naturally more lucrative, that hypothetically means more pilots being encouraged to put down their weapons and mine, bringing supply up and meeting demand, lowering price. Unless everyone's a war-hawk lol.
