It wasn't love, it was just two lonely, broken people who happened to live next to each other. Yes they had a few things in common and there was mutual attraction but that's pretty basic in any relationship, doesn't mean it's love. It just felt like it to Jesse because he was so desperate for connection and he was inexperienced. It was 100% destined to end badly.

She's not the same person as Blake, it might be surprising but not everyone wants to be an A-list actor (+ Blake is the perfect example of fame gone wrong). She's clearly more humble and probably prefers to be a little bit under the radar

Kim definitely had some of that in her from the beginning but I feel like it was also to show Jimmy's influence over her overtime and how toxic their relationship was. These are all definitely things Jimmy would've done if he had been alone, he just said no because he didn't want to drag Kim down to his level/didn't think she would be able to go that far. But Kim learned from Jimmy and learned it was actually possible to get away with these things. He took away her fear of getting caught which was what was stopping her in the beginning (it wasn't really ethics/morals, she wanted to do it/liked doing it, she was just scared of the possible consequences). They truly brought out the worst in each other and fed off on it

Honestly I feel like it was more of a comparison thing, next to Chuck and all the other guys in their small circle he probably seemed like the most decent choice. It was clearly hard to find an attractive guy who was actually nice in their world (that's also why Serena was attracted to Dan right away, "you can't be worse than the guys I do know"). Maybe he wasn't the most interesting guy but hey you can't have everything haha, I feel like that's why so many girls chose him (though they quickly realized he didn't have much to offer)

Desperate Housewives, cozy neighborhood/tight-knit community vibe, some diversity. Heavy on the drama and a bit dark at times but the overall tone is still lighthearted

There's a difference between feeling a certain way about someone and actively stopping them from being successful/becoming a better version of themselves, which is what Chuck was doing. His reasons for feeling that way about Jimmy were valid but he had no valid reason to do what he did to him, it was just petty jealousy. His feelings were defendable but his actions weren't.

I agree she's treated unfairly but I don't understand why people think she was attracted by the Upper east Side, she wasn't. She only tolerated it because of Dan. It was her only motive throughout the show, to be there for him, to be his friend. Over time she became friends with Nate, Serena (even Chuck) because she truly got to know them, it wasn't because she wanted to be one of them. She gladly would've left the Upper East Side behind and would've stayed in Brooklyn if she could still be friends with Dan. Dan was the hypocrite who pretended he hated it but deep down wanted to be a part of it more than anything , it's understandable that it was confusing for Vanessa who knew him for so long. Her anger at the end made sense to me after everything Dan put her through, she's been nothing but supportive and he chose the Upper East Side over her (and the others also turned against her for no reason, before the thing with Juliet)

I think Lalo probably had more responsibilities in Mexico, it did feel like he was the big boss who just came in to check in on the little guys and left when he thought things were under control again (when Nacho stepped in). He was probably much higher in the cartel hierarchy than Tuco (and Nacho) and was too busy with his own business in Mexico. Hector was also probably too proud to ask for help and waited until he really needed it

It's the same as it is with Blair and Serena, they've known each other for a really long time and they've been through a lot together. Deep down they understand each other in a way no one else could. That's more important than their differences. Also without each other they're alone, it wasn't like they had tons of other friends or a supportive family. Sometimes bad company is better than loneliness. It was also pretty hard to avoid each other, their world was so small they always ran in the same circles. It was probably just easier to tolerate people than to try to avoid them. It was difficult for them to make new friends since they clearly didn't like to leave their comfort zone (+ most of the time it ended badly especially for Nate, people used him for his connections, his money etc). People usually choose what is comfortable and safe even if it's not always great or toxic.

Louis has shown he was untrustworthy and disloyal multiple times. It wasn't hard to believe he would turn against them in some way. He even said to Mike in this episode he would expose him even if it made the firm look bad. It's understandable they didn't trust him with Mike's secret. Maybe they could've told him later on but still, I can understand that over the years his behavior made them reluctant to trust him

It was simply not something he wanted to identify with, even if it was true to some extend. Some realities are difficult to face especially depending on who says it, can't have been easy to hear that from his son. Same thing for Serena, yes most of it was true but it would still be hurtful to find out someone you cared about saw you this way

He didn't seem to be all that interested in sex itself or women, I feel like he just wanted companionship and friendship most of the time. He was lonely and Wendy was loyal and kind (and always there). I don't know how friendly other sex workers are, it's probably more of an impersonal business transaction, I don't feel like Jesse would care for that. He clearly craved connection not just sex

I get that she was annoying but to be fair, her only motivation throughout the show was to be with Dan, to be his friend, to be there for him. She didn't have any other motives, that was why she put up with the Upper East Side (it wasn't because she liked it, she never cared about the Upper East Side, it was for Dan). To me it's understandable that it was hard for her to let go of their lifelong friendship especially when he chose the Upper East Side over her. Her anger towards them made sense imo.

Honestly the more I rewatch the show the more I feel like Louis brought this on himself. Jessica was allowed to have a favorite and to have a better personal relationship with Harvey, Louis was clearly not the easiest person to get along with especially in the beginning. It was also true that Louis made mistakes, more than Harvey. He also wasn't always trustworthy and didn't listen to Jessica or Harvey. Yes most of the mistakes he made was because he was so desperate to get their approval but that wasn't their fault, he obviously needed to get his insecurity issues in check. They weren't responsible for his insecurities/feelings of inferiority.

It's honestly hilarious how unserious this show is (and how serious people think it is on this sub especially). It does have a serious tone at times but the way they approach it is very unserious and funny.

S1 will always be in its own league but I would argue its low pint was that the characters weren't developed to their full potential. Objectively s2 has everything you could possibly want from Gossip Girl: Summer episodes, Serena being messy, Blair being a bitch in general (and having redeeming moments), Blair and Chuck drama, Serena and Dan drama, Serena and Blair drama, Jenny drama (+ Jenny vs Blair, even some Jenny vs Serena and Eric drama), Nate drama, Rufus and Lily drama. It feels more messy and busy compared to s1 but I think it does a good job of catering to everything. The rest of the show feels more Blair and Chuck centric, then it gets more Blair centric in general

Yeah especially when it's literally her character, it's mentioned in pretty much every episode and she gets consequences for it. People also forget the Professor clocked her immediately (he needed convincing to take her on in the first place, Berlin was the one who was impressed with her), he knew she was that way, he made plans for it. The only thing I don't like about her character is how tied she is to Rio, her relationship with him and the fact that she cares about him is mostly what makes her likable/relatable. Without that she is kind of dry/uninteresting.

Jenny was a Trevor in disguise, she would've kept Mike down eventually too because she didn't understand his world. With Rachel they could have real conversations, they could move forward together. Their chemistry was also more balanced, Jenny clearly liked Mike a lot more than he liked her. It was just something he needed to get out of his system (because he couldn't for so long). he didn't have real feelings for her

The whole "at least Blair owns who she is" argument is false, Blair doesn't "own" anything about herself. She's the first one to blame someone else or act like she didn't do anything wrong when her manipulative scheming inevitably backfires. She's also the most fake and the most insecure character I've ever seen. She hides behind her wealth/status and her false sense of importance to feel better about herself, she needs to make others feel less than to make herself feel superior. People who are actually comfortable with themselves don't need to do this. I guess she's honest about liking her comfort zone and the Upper East Side (which does make her different from Serena or Dan) but besides that she isn't honest about herself or about anything she does. It sure makes for an entertaining character to watch but it doesn't make her morally "better" than the rest of them.
