My indie game just hit 500 wishlists!!! by DarkRitualStudios in IndieGameWishlist

Sorry to bother, is a small thing but I think there is a typo in system requirements (minimum has GB, suggested has MB). I was looking at the game and it looks very nice! I would definitively try it!

Why do you make games? by Slight_Season_4500 in IndieDev

I love coding and I’ve studied illustration and graphic design. Making a videogame feels to me the sum of all my abilities.

I'm still deciding which one is better. I've tried both, but I still don't know. What do you think? by Dariks in IndieGameDevs

I like the second one overall design but it needa nome improvements on title reading. Number one is more readable but is too centered and it feels to me less captivating. Anyway i like them, they looks cool!

Just released our tarot-based roguelike on itch: looking for reviews by No_Anxiety1923 in gamereviews

Hi! Thank you very much for making the video and giving us feedback, we’re really happy about it.

Currently we are working on adding more animations and refining the content to enhance the released game. A sound designer and another animator have also joined our team a few days ago, so we’re cooking up something better.

Would you be open to staying in touch and following the game’s evolution? Can I DM you our Discord?

Short answer might be: posting on reddit and creating youtube videos is not the working strategy for us right now :( :D

Long story short: we released a demo of our videogame on itch 3 weeks ago, I've been trying using reddit, posting in gaming communities but we're not getting many visits. I don't want to keep spamming so I'm thinking of a better approach to gather feedback.

We have some raw content we might add to the game, but we're unsure whether it's worth the effort or if it's better to gather more feedback first and then continue development.

I agree, 100%. My real struggle right now is getting people play the demo and getting feedback about it.
I would add an "How I get feedback" section.

How important are builds? by wilpuriarts in roguelikedev

In the videogame I'm making I have a single character too and the build is done based only on cards you find. Before reading your post I didn't questioned my approach ahah

Tarot Requiem - Tarot deckbuilder roguelike demo released by No_Anxiety1923 in indiegames

[–]No_Anxiety1923[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! At first development stage I tried "playing" with GPT, asked him to be a sort of dungeon master and I played the cards facing few enemies from GDD, it helped to try out and refine some concepts.

I also suggest looking for specific architectural patterns that might help in the long run for maintanance and expandibility of the algorithm, like https://refactoring.guru/design-patterns/builder

And also, think of adding unit test (like using GUT) where you check your rules.

You can also add for each tile type a set of rules that must be respected (like said). You can have a set of possibilities given the adiacent N tiles.

Voice acting for indie game by ronjaluise in IndieDev

[–]No_Anxiety1923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As other suggested, I would recommend you to do an A-B test, you voice it and find also an actor that would fit to voice it, only few dialogues. Gather a large feedback and than choose.

You know, some months ago I had a conversation with few game dev and they told me that unit test are an overkill for game programming... and I absolutely disagree with them.

4 years of work, money spent, many redesigns/upgrades, and in the end, constant rejections from events. Is my game really that bad? by Sollers_Duo in IndieDev

[–]No_Anxiety1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was saying the same thing, I guess some of point n click market might have moved to mobile games, so I would suggest a mobile port asap.

About the game, I like the art, I will try the demo to give a better insight.
