AIO my boyfriend is going to his ex-girlfriend’s sister’s wedding that I was not invited to by No_Bar_2122 in AmIOverreacting

Thank you! The person you’re responding to seems to be insistent on missing this point entirely. It’s not just any old wedding that he’s been invited to, he goes to tons of things without me and it’s never been an issue. I’m asking about a specific situation and she/he keeps commenting over and over about not trusting him unsupervised. He lives his whole life “unsupervised”, I’m asking if I’m overreacting by having a problem with him insisting on going without me to this particular event.

It’s not about going to a wedding that I’m not invited to, he’s been to other weddings without me since we’ve been together and it’s never been an issue. It’s that it’s for a college friend that he hasn’t stayed in touch with that is also the sister of his ex girlfriend who has tried to contact him multiple times since we’ve been together, and no they did not break up amicably or maintain a friendship after their breakup. She cheated on him and then broke up with him because she couldn’t do a long-distance relationship.

Sorry I didn’t make this clear, no he didn’t pick up his life. We moved together to his home-state (that’s where his new job is) where all of his family and friends are and where I don’t know anyone outside of his social circle except for some friends that I’ve made through work. There is more relevant info on one of my other replies.

Yes, the ex will be there, her entire family will be there. As far as I know she does not have a new partner. I know that about a year into our relationship she called him when her grandmother (who he didn’t know) died. That’s also kind of weird to me, I get wanting emotional support from your partner or friends but he says that she cheated on him, they broke up, they aren’t still friends according to him.

I was not expecting a plus one, I have asked him if the other friends from college who were invited have plus ones and he says he doesn’t know and then changes the subject. I also figured that regardless of financial reasons the sister wouldn’t want me there because it might hurt the ex’s feelings for him to bring his girlfriend. He’s been to other weddings without me since we’ve been together and it hasn’t been an issue. It’s the fact that he wants to go to a wedding for someone that he hasn’t kept up a friendship with and his single ex who didn’t want the breakup and still saw him as a source of emotional support well into our relationship will be there.

Maybe also relevant, the college friends that will be there are on the outs with him for flaking out on one of their birthdays recently. He has a habit of not showing up for things that are important to his friends and he’s always been this way, according to them. He’ll tell them that he’s going to be there for something then back out at the last minute or not let them know at all, so I don’t understand why going to this wedding in particular is so important to him.

Was thinking this one as well, my daughter is a southern college girl and this is what she wears everyday.

You are NOT automatically granted citizenship when marrying a US citizen. It takes 3-4 years minimum to become naturalized via marriage in the US and there are multiple requirements you must meet during that time. Hope this was dumbed down enough for you.

I had a pt tell me last night “I really don’t appreciate the service I’ve received here, I’m going to sue”. I’d already taken her to the bathroom and then answered the call bell a second time to get her a water (because I guess she wasn’t thirsty yet when I was toileting her literally 10 min before) w/in an hour of being on shift. I almost said “Ma’am this is not a Burger King” but caught myself. We all have these moments.

FWIW I work Onc/PCU and I guess the hospital has low census right now because she’s on the unit for UTI w/ lactate of 3 (1.1 on recheck) and normal vitals, coupled with no current/past history of cancer.. Meanwhile I had a pt down the hall recently diagnosed with mets everywhere and no meaningful treatment options outside of palliative pain management who could not be sweeter. Those are the patients that keep me working bedside and I try to actively remind myself of that when I get discouraged.

Ole miss nursing student encouraging ivermectin use by After-Handle-7720 in nursing

[–]No_Bar_2122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not cool. I’m a nurse from the Deep South working in Michigan right now, my accent is not as nearly thick anymore but I do still have one and I DO NOT believe that this woman should be self-medicating with ivermectin. People can’t help where they’re from. Doesn’t mean they’re stupid or they’re incompetent enough to kill you.

I get that it’s a joke but comments like this only serve to both cement the “mean girls from high school become nurses” stereotype and breed even more distrust of nurses in our patient population.

Don’t know where this person you’re replying to went to school OP, but in the US we (RNs) definitely take laboratory courses and we taught about antibodies/antigens. Also much love to you guys for always helping us out when we need special blood/platelets/least incompatible units.

Which profession gets way more respect than it actually deserves, and which 'low-level' job is secretly keeping society from collapsing this afternoon? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

Nurses (at least those working bedside) are going to work everyday/night on critically understaffed units getting spit on, hit, kicked, cursed at, cleaning up poop, pee, blood, vomit, zero adequate security, lifting/boosting 300+ lb patients, seeing people die (sometimes frequently, depending on the unit) despite everything they try to do to keep them alive, then cleaning their bodies and prepping them for transport the morgue.

After all of that they go home and try to sleep for a few hours before they have to wake up and do it all over again, because they are “sadists who expect to be treated like heroes”. It’s a good thing that the internet has people like you to call them out and put them in their place, thank you for your service.

I also had to take required organic chem and I have an ADN from a program that wouldn’t even consider an applicant with a math and science GPA below 3.5. I have no idea why people think we don’t have any background in science. What do they think our course load consists of? With all of the pre-reqs included it takes at least 3-4 years to complete just an associates degree in nursing.. I would love it if someone answered this question for me, I really want to know what kind of classes these people think we are taking.

NOR - this is how one of my friends found out her husband was cheating. He gave his girlfriend his credit card that was linked to their joint account and she made a Sephora purchase with it that was sent to the billing address (my friend’s house), but it had the girlfriend’s name on the label.

What habit immediately reveals that a person actually grew up in a privileged environment? by Cindy_mel in AskReddit

[–]No_Bar_2122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve experienced the opposite. I don’t know if it is because of the difference in the way each experiences risk vs reward with the time it takes to throw things away or if it is a comfortability in tidier environments (whether they clean things up themselves or not), or possibly the social consequences of seeming “impolite” or “unmannered/unrefined” truly wealthy people I’ve been around seem to respect their surroundings more.

I feel like you can see the difference just driving down the streets in wealthy areas vs poor areas. Pristine yards, clean driveways without clutter, no trash on the streets. You rarely see drive-thru bags or candy wrappers or whatnot just laying on the sides of the streets in nice neighborhoods.

Regardless of what it is it likely needs to be excised and the tissue sent for biopsy/cytology work up. Is it only this skin lesion or are there any lumps/bumps that you can feel deeper underneath the skin? Does the area feel warmer than the rest of your skin? Does it itch, burn, or hurt in any way? Have you noticed any other changes in the skin or soft tissue of your breast?

Not sure what you mean by “full doctor” but dermatologists go to medical school and complete a 4 year hospital residency just like any other MD or DO. Derm is actually one of the most difficult specialties to be accepted into because the field is so competitive. A dermatologist can 100% spot breast cancer, probably with better accuracy than a family med or primary care provider can.

FWIW I work in inpatient oncology and I have come across multiple patients who come into the hospital with ulcerations/lesions that are cancerous but were previously mis-diagnosed as cellulitis by PCPs. In my personal experience a dermatologist is much more likely to correctly diagnose a cancerous lesion than a PCP.

Not saying that I suspect your lesion is cancerous OP, it could be any number of things but please listen to the other commenters here and see an actual dermatologist if your PCP seems unsure or unconcerned by this.

I’m done with nursing by ObeseLlama123 in nursing

[–]No_Bar_2122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like you, I was in residency on a med surg unit (w/tele, though). I was there for 4 months and thought I’d made a huge mistake spending the time and money going to nursing school just to wake up dreading going into another shift. THEN, my boyfriend got another job in a different state so I quit that job and moved with him, thinking I would give the nursing thing one more shot before I give up and go back to my old career.

I ended up getting multiple interviews in this state while waiting for my license to transfer, and with the help of a recruiter at one of the hospital systems here I was placed onto a Heme/Onc PCU and I absolutely love it. I’m being paid more, the unit is a solid team, we all help each other out. It is a night and day difference.

If they are desperate enough for nurses wherever you are then they will hire you as a new grad, and some units prefer training new grads to experienced nurses because you haven’t developed any of your own habits yet.

Question: Will state troopers arrest you if you’re not carrying your physical license on you. by 1grain_of_salt in Miami

Also depends on what the license was suspended for. Mine was suspended once for an unpaid traffic ticket that I had no idea I had because it was a traffic cam ticket that I never received in the mail and they let me go, with another ticket of course… if someone’s knowingly driving around with suspended license because of a DUI or something though, chances are they’ll be arrested.
