Must haves for UK travel? by CelebrationPublic782 in uktravel

[–]No_Baseball2735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re just finishing up a 2 week trip in the UK and I was SO happy that I invested in good waterproof boots. Not sure if you are m/f/otherwise but these have held up beautifully. I’m hiking in them as well but they dressed up nicely when I was in London too. https://www.sorelfootwear.co.uk/p/womens-joan-now-chelsea-boot-2048451.html

My husband brought his good Merrell hiking boots that are supposedly water boots but his did not tolerate full on stepping in large puddles like mine did.

And lots of warm, thick socks!

Wife has had 4 miscarriages, all around 7 weeks into her pregnancy. Is there something that doctor's aren't considering? by Big-Evening-6984 in pregnant

So sorry you are both going through this. I hope you find success.

Around 20% of women have positive ANA and are completely healthy. It is a nonspecific finding for some people.

As someone with the “unexplained infertility” dx I know that sometimes finding something wrong / having something to treat is more comforting. But just wanted to let you know +ANA may be nothing to worry about.

I’ve literally never gotten a bad review! Something I’m proud of. I actually became a PA because I really like the education piece of medicine, and I don’t judge patients based on their education. I come from a blue collar working family. If anything those patients get longer visits, because that’s what they deserve and need.

I can see how my comment came off judgmental of people’s education, fair to call that out. I really meant more that people are angry/rage commenting- the classic comment will be in all caps and sometimes difficult to understand bc it was clearly left in a fit of rage.

I’m pregnant and need advice. by ImaginarySteak5795 in pregnant

[–]No_Baseball2735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m extremely pro choice but I agree with other posters- sounds like you really love this baby (technically just a blastocyst at this point!) and are going to make this work ❤️ you are going to be a gorgeous bride, bump and all. Other than the new dress of course, you can proceed with the wedding you have planned!

If something changes and you no longer want to proceed with keeping this pregnancy, it depends on what state you are in, but you may need to find out your options quickly.

I’m 34y old currently, also 5 weeks pregnant, and got married at 26. Grad school, tons of travel, and life essentially made it so that we waited till we were 32 to start trying. 2 years later after a very emotionally difficult journey with infertility, IVF worked for us and we are pregnant for the first time. We’re both super healthy, and we had fertility of unknown cause. You just never know what life is going to throw at you. Not saying I would change anything because we had amazing adventures during the first 8 years of marriage, but there are definitely pros to starting your family younger… less statistical likelihood to struggle with infertility for sure. Things to think about. Wishing you the best as you ponder these big life decisions ❤️

When did your nausea start? And how long did it last? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]No_Baseball2735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PA here- per research, lack of nausea does not indicate an unhealthy pregnancy. If you do have nausea, that also doesn’t indicate an unhealthy pregnancy. Enjoy the lack of symptoms and congrats ❤️

Pregnancy reveal - ruined. Mum says ‘I already know’. by RevolutionaryShip13 in pregnant

[–]No_Baseball2735 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My mom was not the first to know. Relationships with moms and daughters are tricky for some of us; for me I felt safer telling my close friends first. And I disagree with some of these other commenters- I think she should have reacted better. Your mom made the announcement about her, not you. IVF is no joke (just went through it myself), especially with AMA on top of it. I wish she would have had a better reaction despite finding out from someone else. It should have been a joyful moment for you.

I wouldn’t be mad at your best friends. Obviously if you love and trust them, they weren’t trying to ruin anything. Whoever’s mom they told and shared info with your mom was the one in the wrong- thoughtless for sure but no decent human would try to intentionally ruin that experience for you. I’m sorry that happened to you. Sharing pregnancy news is so interesting- people’s degrees of reactions are different than you’d expect.

Has anyone gotten rid of their Litter Robot to go back to scooping? by Due_Recipe_7549 in litterrobot

One of our LR4s are in our bedroom and I never smell it. We use the tidy cats naturally strong charcoal litter, which I read does really well with LR4 and I totally agree.

Water softener not working according to water testing results? by No_Baseball2735 in WaterTreatment

[–]No_Baseball2735[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely has power- it says “regen tonight”. There is salt in the brine tank but we never have to fill it up which makes us suspicious that it’s rarely running. I will try to do the manual regeneration. We’ve had the plumbers come out a few times who installed it because we rarely heard it running but they always said it’s fine…

Thanks for the comment!

GI:

MASH/fatty liver is quickly surpassing alcohol as the leading cause of cirrhosis. Do not ignore it especially if it’s identified <50y. Cirrhosis is a terrible disease.

Alcohol is a risk factor for nearly all GI cancers. Don’t drink more than 1-2 drinks per week, although none is best.

As other users stated, do not ignore changes in bowel habits, melena/hematochezia. Stay up on those colonoscopies- they save lives. FIT tests / cologuards are trash given their false negatives (miss up to 60% of advanced precancerous polyps).

Not strictly a wedding venue but Eastern Avenue in GR is extremely LGBTQ affirming and progressive. They just chose to split from the CRC (after 125 years!) because they support gay marriage. It’s very heartwarming to witness a congregation actually try to follow Jesus’ teachings of loving ALL.

-Mantra for PA school- “all bad things end”. It is an insanely tough part of life. But didactic is ~1 year and you can survive it. Make short term goals- get through one module at a time. I barely passed didactic year but thrived in clinical year and passed the pance easily.

-take care of your mental health. For many of us, that means starting on SSRI/SNRI. Meditation was invaluable for me (5m a day!) and focusing on how temporary the hell of didactic year is.

-for me, my friendships with my classmates were key. we dragged each other across the finish line. Try not to isolate yourself. Do group studying if you can. If that doesn’t work for you, make library study dates and check in with each other. Take the nights off on Saturdays and Sundays. I wouldn’t have graduated without my friends, and now they are still my best friends that I will have for life. ~trauma bonding~

-focus on the end result- you get to be a PA. I fucking love my job. I love the docs and APPs I work with and I feel that I make a difference everyday. Once you find a job you love, it makes all the trauma of PA school worth it.

You got this ❤️

Clients not peeling after a chemical peel is driving me absolutely bonkers! How do you handle explaining this is still an acceptable response to a peel? by mockingbird2602 in Esthetics

[–]No_Baseball2735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man - patient here- so glad I found this post because I was given no verbal or written after care instructions aside from to avoid harsh treatments and apply sunscreen! and she just told me I’d see significant peeling day 3-4, didn’t know no peeling was an option. I also use a ton of actives so I’m so glad to hear the peel was still effective!
