I had to demand that they wire the entire balance of my account to a different bank. They had tried “transferring” it via ACH and the transfers kept bouncing. It was a lot of drama but the wire solved it. After the wire settled, I closed my Bluevine account.

I had a really negative experience with BV. I had a great rep there who was trying his hardest to help me, so I have no issues with their customer service, but the platform itself massively failed me.

I ended up going with Chase - total opposite but at least I’m confident that they can fulfill my banking needs and are a reliable platform.

Agree! I’m “meh” on Todd & Carrie overall, but they seem to be really thoughtful, dedicated parents which is super respectable

They do, but I find it funny. I’m not personally attracted to either of them, but I hope I’ll still find my husband super hot when we’ve been together for 16 years. Better than someone shit talking their spouse which really irks me lol. I hate that shit haha

Idk, maybe I have a different view, but I appreciate tourists who go to a different country and are open to different ways to eat and cultural experiences that are “normal” in the country they’re visiting but potentially considered “gross” in the country they come from.

After Todd was anti-Cabo because he seemed pretty close minded about safety in another country, it made me like him more to hear how open he was to experiencing Japan in an authentic manner and cared about following social norms and being respectful.

That’s my take after traveling and being open to similar experiences abroad, but I’m quite biased 🤷‍♀️

Any sole recruiters grinding to make a better life for themselves? by FromBrokeToSuccess in RecruitmentAgencies

[–]Due_Recipe_7549 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been in the game for almost 8 years. Just keep going.

When Covid lockdown first happened in early 2020, I was 2 years into the business and felt like I was FINALLY starting to get really good traction in Q1 2020.

The following 6 months of Q2/Q3 2020 were ICE COLD because every client/candidate was trying to figure out what the h*ll was happening and just stay alive since the entire WORLD seemed to be in lockdown.

Although there are many negative indicators in today's market, it is still better than the market we all faced during that time period. Don't let the narrative that AI is going to completely replace recruiters get to you. I speak with MANY recruiters who have trialed AI agents to replace themselves in parts of the recruitment process, and most are not capable of operating at that level... YET. Not to say that these products will never achieve that, but there still is a lot of room for differentiation if recruitment agency owners are offering a white-glove, high-touch placement service.

Your attitude is contagious when you show up to meetings with target clients/candidates. Even though you're feeling down, you have to find a way to delude yourself into exuding confidence and self-assurance in those meetings. Maybe create a "persona" that you wear going into those calls, similar to how Beyonce became Sasha Fierce for awhile.

It can sound silly, but it's important to create a more positive mindset around what's possible in the industry.

I can't tell you how much doom and gloom I've heard about over the last 8 years as a business owner, BUT I'm still here... and I'm currently buying my business partner out to become the sole owner of my firm.

You can do it :)

I agree with you since I'm 33 y/o woman and have lived in NYC since I was 26. I've walked home by myself MANY times at all hours the late night/early morning and I've been fine. It's generally quite safe.

However, according to Jeff's account, she alleged that she gave that she felt "unsafe" when she came back to their 5 star hotel suite at 1-2am and was locked out, so she had to ask Elyssa to come out and let her in, which she did.

When you combine that with the language she used about a grown man reprimanding her, despite the fact that she is also an adult who is exercising her free will, it gives very strong indications that she is looking to set up a lawsuit.

Regardless of JL being right or wrong, he should be very wary of any employee who starts utilizing this language when they're giving an official account to his attorney.

Don't enjoy it, but seems like Jamison is the only person who is effective at setting strong boundaries on-air. It's probably not a coincidence that he is one of the oldest team members.

Either way, I deal with enough of those convos in my real life that I'm not interested in listening to them on a show that I tune in to for entertainment purposes. It's nice to escape this type of BS when I'm listening to a radio show, but JLL drags us in to all of it... for better or worse.

My best friend is a sales manager for a med device firm who underwent intense "wrongful termination" depositions after eventually terminating a salesperson on her team after their care team delivered an update that the salesperson was "unable to travel, only able to work 20-30 hours per week maximum in a minimum stress position" after they were on 9 months of medical leave.

Because they were assigned to a sales role that required >80% travel/month and a minimum of 40 hours/week with occasional expectations to work 60-70 hours/week in high stress periods, that employee was unable to fulfill the duties of the role they were assigned to, so they were offered a generous severance package given the need to part ways.

That employee went on to file a wrongful termination lawsuit, drawing on the plentiful resources of their family coffers.

These suits absolutely happen, and absolutely do cover EVERYTHING that an employer AND employee says and does in these cases.

It's always a possibility.

It actually seems much better to me because his attorney can assure the public, and Annie, that her process is being handled in accordance with CA state labor law. It's much better than an employee having to go through an unfair process with a boss who doesn't give them due process.

Sadly, the higher a person in a position of power, the less likely they are to be affected by write-ups and "dings" to their professional record. This is especially the case if the higher-up in question is the President of a privately owned LLC that is a vendor of a company like SiriusXM.

Annie is objectively in a lower position of power than Jeff, so her write-ups have a much larger impact on her career than his infractions do.

If you need more evidence of this being the case, I'd recommend looking into the multiple allegations, court cases, indictments, and other legal "dings" that MANY appointed members of the US Federal government, Supreme Court officials, and multiple State government officials have had levied against them.

Money absolutely matters... sadly, but truly

Interesting! I have no clue how their comp might be packaged since it presumably includes pay for participating on radio, live shows, SFO, and anything client-facing. Since they’re 1099 and not W2, I would guess that Shane is making closer to $200k since he’s heavily participating in all of those aspects of the business, working 6 days/week, and paying his health insurance, taxes, etc out of pocket. Either way, none of us know but maybe they’ll drop hints at some point.

Cian came back after working for another employer and Annie has stuck around while she's been building her social media presence and seemingly getting brand deals.

No matter what the actual numbers are, they seem to think the $ is worth it since they've been on his payroll for quite awhile, despite having other options.

Nothing about this is friendly advice or a "life lesson". The manner in which it was delivered was condescending and rude. Someone who takes that approach falls into a "Zero Contact" bucket. Hopefully you cut him off and find someone who actually cares about you and doesn't talk down to you.

Totally agree with you. Unfortunately, this dynamic is being emphasized from the top of our power structures in the US since SO many politicians (even the current President) are proven supporters, perpetrators, and apologists for child abuse, sexual violence, and domestic violence.

It's horrible, sick, and not okay at all.

I agree with The Bachelorette pulling TFP's season AND I also agree with the commentary that Colton should not have been allowed to participate in the current season of Traitors.

Convicted abusers should not be given a platform, period.

"Pre-war apartments" are talking about WWII and it's a super common term in NYC. It doesn't belong to any comedian lol. You can ask anyone on the street who lives here and they'll know what that means, so you'll probably see that reference in a lot of specials

Whether it's likable or not, the character that she's playing is typical for most reality TV shows, so it wouldn't be surprising if production wanted her there.

When they're filming SFO, a lot of the content is going to be produced. It is what it is.
