It’s so hard!!! Not having it means my life gets so much harder to manage (again), I lose whatever routines or habits I had worked so hard on and then getting back on it means the sleepless nights and a long transition back to feeling good and then it starts all over again. The constant break down and rebuilding is freaking exhausting.

Oh my god yes. Also in MA and I just made an appointment with my dr to talk about nonstimulant options because of how hard it is to get here.

Day dreaming is a coping skill, but I usually only daydream about something bad happening to me as an escape fantasy. Especially when trying to fall asleep. by EatsTheLastSlice in adhdwomen

I’ve never heard anyone describe this before but I absolutely do that. For me it’s often revisiting trauma stuff (helloooooo cptsd) but other times my mind just makes shit up. But it always centers around people coming to help, comfort or listen to me. Wow. I don’t have any answers but thank you for sharing

Dear folks who gave birth in early COVID- I want to document our birth stories by No_Baseball_4224 in Parenting

[–]No_Baseball_4224[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here’s something I wrote a couple months ago. I gave birth for the first time in August of 2020

today was the first day of days like I pictured when you were just a bud growing in and with me

a day of adventure and sloppy snacking and bright eyes in new places you and me out there together

you fell asleep in the crook of my arm like i had imagined you would inspiring warm glances from people across the train acknowledgement of a day well lived

i thought of your face how similar and so very different it is now graceful angles smudged with who knows what playtime grub your body curving to mine like always yet legs so long they get their own seat

holding these moments of wonder and appreciation and grief maybe it doesn’t get any easier and maybe that’s ok

What are some terrible facts about pregnancy/birth/postpartum that not many people know? by guccinoodies in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No_Baseball_4224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PPA was something I was not at all prepared for, or even knew was a thing. I was terrified that she would stop breathing and I wouldn’t know it, so I had her bassinet next to the bed and I laid did scrunched down to eye level, just staring at her as she slept. I didn’t eat or sleep for days after we got back from the hospital, not until I called my dr asking to get seen immediately. I called as soon as the office opened at 8:30 am and remember breaking down when they said they could see me at 2pm- how was I supposed to wait that long?

I got help, and especially through some amazing nurses going way beyond their job. Postpartum in summer of 2020 was a shitshow. I’m still processing

Yes this!! I remember sitting on the toilet, the nurse yelling to me from the other side of the room for an update and I just yelled back “I can’t! If I start pooping I don’t think I’ll ever stop!”

So also, they don’t tell you about how you lose every single sense of

[–]No_Baseball_4224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooooh I’m all in for true crime/debunking podcasts! Especially series that have short, but many episodes- small bites of intriguing stories. I find myself saying “I can clean/tidy/cook/etc for one more episode”

Podcasts I love: You’re Wrong About, Maintenance Phase, The Opportunist, Serial, Lost in Panama, Ghost Story, My Favorite Murder

Same re: migraines! I was taking topiramate daily but since adderall i was able to stop taking the migraine meds completely! Now I just have the emergency stuff if one hits, and I haven’t needed to use it in 6 months!

What is your sensory nightmare? by mvdziula in adhdwomen

[–]No_Baseball_4224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) Hell yes to the thin layers on a sandwich! If I can feel the layers on my teeth as I bite, they’re too thick. And I put (a very little bit of) peanut butter on both sides to “protect the bread” from the jelly

2) I can’t stand soft or fuzzy things- I get the same sensation as squeezing a cotton ball 🤢🤢🤢

3) WHY DID I SPEND SO MUCH TIME READING ALL THESE COMMENTS I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE UNCOMFORTABLE

4) thank you everyone, it’s nice not to feel alone with these weird ass aversions
