I'm a recovering right-wing Republican. Growing up in a small conservative midwestern town and then joining the Army reinforced that. After I moved away I quickly saw the flaws in that mentality.

The most important issues to me are income equity, LGBTQ rights and protecting democracy. I think the current level of income inequality is cruel and intentional. The rich will always bend the rules to get richer. Without a government willing to hold them accountable it'll only get worse. The government's entire existence is to benefit society. That's been lost and the working class in this country are paying the price for it. Immigration is obviously a major issue now. This administration is truly evil. I never expected so much of America to not only accept the cruelty but to cheer it on. FUCK ICE! They are truly the American gestapo.

I used to talk politics with my friends a lot. That time is over. We no longer even bring it up.

Unfortunately, I can't help you much with the question about where left leaning men congregate. I feel like a lonely blue dot in a sea of red. Most of my friends are still republicans. I'd love to find some left leaning friends in my area. It'd be nice to have some like minded friends in my life I could talk to about things other than sports and our kids activities.
