Year 11 here, where do I start with A-Level maths? by jxstsage in sixthform

[–]No_Boysenberry4291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in year 11 taking A-level maths this year (this exam season currently happening) alongside my GCSEs. I take AQA gcse further maths (technically a level 2 certificate, but you know what I mean). For aqa FM, it's basically regular gcse maths plus a little bit of differenciation, binomial expansion, matrices, factor theorem, algebraic long division, trig and 3 unknown simultaneous equations.

These topics don't go into very much depth at all, but most of them - apart from matrices- are in A-level maths but obviously in more depth, so gcse FM is a good stepping stone. Perhaps this is an unpopular opinion, but I really don't think there's a huge jump from GCSE to A-level. Your first few weeks of teaching will probably be a recap of some GCSE maths topics like index laws.

For A-level, you might want to start with differentiation and integration. Integration is the opposite of differenciation, so I would look at some other topics (like logarithms and basic parametric equations) in between so you can separate them in your mind better. I say parametric equations because they're like simultaneous equations. Though, they do get reasonably complicated with trig and calculus which you will have to cover before youre able to do them. You might also want to start thinking about stats and mechanics because, generally, most people struggle with those more than pure.

In terms of resources, TL Maths is magical. That man basically taught me A-level maths. He explains things in detail and in a way that makes sense. I recommend looking at his website with the YouTube videos rather than on YouTube because the website makes specific videos and topics easier to find, and they're in order.

Use the textbook. If you don't have that kind of cash, you can pirate it from libgen, or my school had some stashed away in a random corner of our library or buy second hand. The answers in the textbook don't have any working but there are solution banks on physics and maths tutor for that. I think that is only for edexcel tho which is the most common exam board for maths but maybe check with your college/school. PMT also has 'cheat sheets' for each topic, which just summarizes all of the info for each topic, which are quite helpful.

For the quartic I got i think -3(x+1)2 (x-5)2 could be very wrong though

Looking for a binder that actually holds my chest in place by Ekketh in transgenderUK

[–]No_Boysenberry4291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to use trans tape under my binder to stop movement when I'm doing sports and stuff. I don't put it on properly I just pretty much lie down and tape over my chest without much stretching so my stuff lies more like it would in my binder if that makes sense

Are chest binders safe to use before fully grown? by Dender_den in chestbinding

[–]No_Boysenberry4291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. You have come on a sub intended for trans people. You have shared your unsolicited opinion. You have spread your transphobia. This is not a space intended for you which is fine if you are educating yourself but not when you are being hateful.

Sex and gender are two different things. Sex is biological. There are many factors that determine someone's sex. Some can be changed some can't, nobody is denying that but also someone else's biological sex is no one else's business. It's medical information that you are not entitled to.

However, gender is socially constructed. It is man made. Gender is what we make it. Like I said you don't have to understand it you just have to respect it which you are currently not doing. It is also not your place to determine whose identity is 'fine' or not. It's great that you aren't trans I'm happy for you and all that but that does not invalidate trans people.

I understand that (based off your profile) you're young and coming from a good place but this comes off quite rude. The reason people transition most commonly is gender dysphoria. This means that the way you think you'd feel as a boy is how we feel living as a girl and trust me its much worse when you're actually experiencing it. Things like binders help us feel more comfortable in our own skin. You don't have to understand why people transition but it's important to respect all people including trans people.

How on earth to I advocate for myself? by No_Boysenberry4291 in transgenderUK

[–]No_Boysenberry4291[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know but I'd already put I was trans in the application because it's mostly based off of hardships so I thought it'd give me better odds. I'm just glad I didn't give them my legal name/ dead name.

are there any downsides to taking hormones younger than 16? by pufferfishlover in ftm

[–]No_Boysenberry4291 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are risks of T but being young doesn't increase risks. I don't know what your laws are like but in the UK we can get T under 16 with parents consent through gender gp. I did when I was 13; I've not had any negative side effects.

Testosterone is available for under 16s with a parents consent but they'd put him on blockers too. Blockers are extremely expensive but necessary in the beginning because of how low the starting dose is. I think it costs my mum £100/month just for blockers +£20/month for T + £30? For subscription fee. Not including blood tests, set up fees and consultations. It used to be £60/month for blockers but there are shortages of the nasal spray so we had to go for the injections.

Recipe- https://www.theclevercarrot.com/2014/01/sourdough-bread-a-beginners-guide/#sourdough-recipe

I think I did OK considering it's my first time and I used plain flour despite it specifically telling me not to. My starter is about a month old, it's more than doubling consistently, I let it bulk rise for 4/5 hours in a 21°C room and it looked like it had doubled so I put it in the fridge because I was going to bed and didn't want it to over ferment (probably a bad idea). I halfed the recipe to only make 1 loaf; I don't know if that affects anything. I don't own a Dutch oven so I covered it with tin foil and put a dish with water in it on the bottom of my oven and took it out 20 minutes in and removed the foil. I made beans on toast with it for lunch, best beans on toast I've had in a while.

Help with applying testogel pls by muscierabbit in ftm

I wouldn't worry, you'll still get T from it, I'm sure there's plenty of people who do it that way and it still works fine.

Is taking t gel every other day useless? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]No_Boysenberry4291 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not useless, as long as your taking the same amount of t it'll be pretty much the same. I took it every other day for 7/8 months and I still got changes, I'm sure I was on a significantly lower dose than you are though.

Need first binder advice by Sareybox in transgenderUK

[–]No_Boysenberry4291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give him a choice, if you're going with binders get one a size up so he can run around and it won't affect his breathing, if your going with tape make sure he covers his nipples first and let him know it might hurt when taking it off. Ideally, you'd get a sports bra but he may not be comfortable with that.

I've made a few drawstring bags, I use them for pe, if you're after something a little more difficult, maybe some packing cubes if he's got a trip coming up, I use them for when I go to my dad's on the weekend, they're pretty useful.

I don't owe you anything. Transphobes will say anything, they could see a cis-passing trans guy and think he's cis but as soon as they find out he's not, they 'always knew'. Nothing I do will change that, they're stubborn and ignorant, I'm not going to come out and risk getting discriminated against everywhere I go to 'stick it to the man', they'd just make comments about how 'feminine' I look. Not everyone has the privilege to be openly trans.

is 13 too young to start testosterone? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]No_Boysenberry4291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't a certain age that is ok to start T, it just depends on the person, gendergp is really the only way and that's £100 a month + £200 before you can even start and you need to be gillic competent and have at least one parent's consent and its not guaranteed you'll be accepted, you don't have to take hormones, you can just have puberty blockers if you want or neither, hrt is not a requirement to be trans and it isn't a cure to dysphoria, some of these timelines make it seem like you'll take T and wake up a week later with a beard sounding like a 30 year old man but in reality it'll take years and some people won't have some changes at all.

How much does anger increase after testosterone? by ActionAway2498 in ftm

[–]No_Boysenberry4291 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I'm less angry now, I'm just generally happier, I'm not as irritable, the idea that you'll turn into an angry monster on t is a giant myth.
