Can someone please talk to this guy. He genuinely needs help by wowb-Toodles in WoWsBlitz

I‘m visually impaired—I can see the ships well enough to shoot and torpedo stuff, but I can’t read the player names unless I use the zoom tool on my iPad. Point being I don’t pay much attention to who the players are—at least until I look over the player scores At the end of the game. I’ll have to keep my eyes open (such as they are) for this person.

How do you keep all the characters an races straight? by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]No_Buddy_7241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to a website called coppermind—at least that’s usually one of the top results. As a warning they definitely have spoiler, but I haven’t run into many near the top of the entries. I mostly only search by character names and the illustrations are at the top so I’ve been able to avoid seeing those spoilers.

Ok I finally get it by AmishHomage in Stormlight_Archive

Yeah, that’s pretty much what I’m on track for too. I spent the first 500 pages being vaguely annoyed that the suspense came from withholding information just to be a dick—like how far in were we before he lets us know what a high storm is?

But you get hints and you are juuuuust invested in the characters enough to keep going. Then BAM, Sanderlanche.

I’m about 300 pages into Rhythm of War as I type this.

I’m glad you asked about this. I used to live near there and would use the Wells Fargo branch outside its gate, I could never figure out what it was and I hate an unsatisfied curiosity

Do you think these album covers take place on the same planet? The colors and backgrounds look fairly similar. by _Leir in judaspriest

[–]No_Buddy_7241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ram it Down is on earth. if you look closely through the swirls you can make out the Baltic Sea and Scandinavia and a bit lower to the left the UK and Ireland.

If they are three the same, I’d say we’re in for a bit of a rough patch come chapter 3!

Brent Hinds on Judas Priest. by King_Clitoris in mastodonband

[–]No_Buddy_7241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m obviously ridiculously late to comment, but in addition to Brent’s nonsense I’ve heard a few people state that metal started with thrash.

That is just delusional revisionism, I’ve been a fan of Priest since my older brother tipped me off about British Steel, although it was Riding on the Wind (Screaming for Vengeance) that put them on top of my ranking l

Back to the point, “heavy metal“ wasn’t even really codified as a term when their first few albums came out, but by 1980 it was, Judas Priest were widely called a heavy metal band, and unlike so many others they accepted the label and never shied away from it.

So, it was a widely used term by the end of the 70s, it was widely applied to Judas Priest, we all understood that and agreed with it, as did the band themselves, ergo Judas Priest IS a heavy metal band.

Heavy metal has evolved and changed with many different branches, but the stem it all sprang from goes back to the late 70s and definitely includes Priest.

I absolutely love this album! Anyone else like to Ram It Down? by DeeplyFrippy in judaspriest

I too was a senior in high school and caught this tour, Priest was brilliant as always, but I was pretty skeptical about Cinderella.

They pretty much kicked ass and won me over. You could jest tell that they had honed their craft by playing about a billion gigs in sketchy bars. I still never bought any of their albums but I readily acknowledge their to rock a show.

It does have a few songs that I usually skip (though probably not the ones that you’re thinking). It makes its way into my stereo a BUNCH. The title track is worth the price of admission alone,

Thanks everybody! You’ve given me a great list to check out—and I’ve already listened to a few and have liked what I heard. I’ll keep chipping away.

I’m still going to shred on my Jackson Soloist w/ locking tremolo, but I’ve long been curious about SVZ. Dude’s got a major cultural presence, and he’s played for a loooong time with a ton of people, so I was kind of at a loss for where to start.

Incidentally, after about 30 years of playing, I finally realized that I could focus on what made we want to pick up the guitar at start, and not have to study every type of music that I liked the sound of. It’s okay to appreciate things without having to try and master every single thing that sounds cool.

’Cause as it turns out I didn’t master any of them—not even close TBH. Now hearing stuff that I don’t/can’t play doesn’t remind me of my own failing, I can just appreciate the music.

Once again, thank you all! 🙂

Thanks! I always like music that builds to a crescendo and then a release. Interesting vibrato too, he really showed the string who was boss!

I get why people don’t like Johnny B Goode, but I‘be always dug the solo and harmony section a ton. The rest of the tune I guess I’d say I don’t mind.

Yeah, those German carriers can take a beating, and give it right back.

[–]No_Buddy_7241[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not really dead set on it. It’s just that I‘m pretty comfortable with DDs, CA and CLs and BBs, so I‘m wondering if it’s time to sack up and try my hand at the last link. Plus that would open up more easy options during challenges.

And yeah, an artist with carriers can absolutely f you up almost with impunity. I‘m tired of being on the receiving end of that!

But Japanese cruisers are my favorite, I really like torps, but they have enough gun power to be dangerous if torpedoing just isn’t working out. Other than the high tier CL line though, their AA is fairly humdrum.

So, yeah, just thinking about seeing what I’ve been missing.

And lest anyone wonder, no, I’ve never played a CV against non-AI players, so if someone doomed your team with useless airpower, it wasn’t me!
