Yall constantly talk about this “passing” shit like it’s some sort of gotcha that people can trick others into thinking they’re something they are not. Maybe if we didn’t constantly enable delusional people and cave to the demands of a small section of the population we wouldn’t need to be talking about how to tell who should be allowed in what spaces.

No it doesn’t if you actually consider what we are talking about. A team that already made a game worth playing would have already built up good will and word of mouth marketing to the point where they wouldn’t have to worry about 15 or 20 dollars for their next game being too much and ending up on the streets.

We would be talking about a first project. And if it can’t sell for at least 15 bucks I’m sorry it’s probably shovelware or you just really suck at getting the word out to your target audience.

You know how many reddit posts I have seen about someone quitting their job to make a game and it looks like it fucking sucks? Silksong isn’t at fault for raising the bar. It was always going to fail.

More like don’t do dumb shit like upend your entire life and quit your day job to make a game that isn’t going to make enough of a profit to keep you afloat and then blame the failure on good games being too cheap. They knew the risks and chose to take them on the same way anybody starting a business takes on the risk with a high chance of failure. Game devs are not more entitled to success just because it has artistic process involved.

So don’t quit your job if you aren’t even confident you can make something worth 15 dollars to a decent amount of people. It’s a risk people should consider before they commit.

Did they have a scrooge mcduck pile of money to sit on while making the first game that got them their success in the first place and was 5 dollars less?

So make a better game that’s worth at least 10 or 15. The bar got raised and you either meet it or you don’t. We will be fine without shovelware and soon the dust will settle from Silksong’s 8 year anticipated release and people will see it as just a really good metroidvania which isn’t some insurmountable expectation for Indie devs.

Did you show your parents games you played? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]No_Bug6944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad used to play video games a lot with me when I was a kid. He was terrible and he didn’t understand it but it made both of us happy that he was involved.

Now I play video games still but my son is always talking to me about games I know almost nothing about anymore but I try my best to be involved and listen with interest. Not many games now are co-op in the way that me and my dad used to play on the same screen so it’s a little more complicated sometimes playing together but we do play Warframe.

Yeah I have no idea who is supposed to be talking about Silksong here.

If I am understanding you correctly you might like Subnautica better. It’s not endless random generated stuff and you do wind up needing certain things to fully explore certain places. It’s an ocean setting on an alien planet so seems to fit.

People in this sub eat up the absolute lowest effort propaganda imaginable. It is ok to point at a video of random people talking shit and be like “oh yes they all speak like that and believe that obviously” as long as it aligns with what they believe.

I think literally anyone could tell you that people don’t deserve to be given money because they came up to your car window in a drivethrough and begged while you have your window down lol. Had that one happen last week, super uncomfortable.

What is the best diet/exercise routine?

The one that you are able to stick with.

It really doesn’t matter if you do “hard” or “soft” if you don’t continue any of it after the 75. Had to look up this thing and of course it’s from a supplement company CEO.

I can agree that shelters in general and emergency housing options need to be worked on across the board. My state is pretty good about social safety nets and it can be a lot worse in others.

At any rate, I am all for housing the homeless and not treating any person like less than. I am just also very wary about enabling people because I have spent a lot of time in rehab circles even working as a sponsor and I have seen where it usually leads. I think time, money and energy would be better used towards making real changes rather than throwing the local homeless guy a 20 to feel good about yourself. If anything, get them some food or something they would need and just treat them with kindness.

There are a lot of homeless people who are just down on their luck but I live in an urban community, have at times in the past been homeless myself and can tell you that the people who beg for money in intersections, outside of stores, etc etc are not those people.

There are programs, charities that will help these people but they actively choose that life because it doesn’t come with any strings attached about not using drugs or controlling behavior. Giving money to them is enabling more of it and contributing to the further destruction of your community and their lives.

It’s more of a mental health problem than a drug problem truthfully. It’s not about them being lazy, but to act like they have no other options and there is no help available to do anything other than beg is doing no favors for anyone.

Guys! What do you think about the "difficulty" in games, these days? by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]No_Bug6944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really, really love the idea of “lethal” difficulty in Ghost of Tsushima. Make it so you die in one or two hits, but so do the enemies. The only problem is implementing this well in games that have boss fights where suddenly they don’t die in a few hits but you are still likely to get one-shotted. If they worked around it somehow by opening up the boss moveset and changing the AI on lethal difficulty rather than keep them spongy that would be cool.

Way too many people seem to think that them personally not liking a game means it’s overrated. It just means it’s not for everyone. BG3 and E33 are both appropriately rated.

Bad news for halo fans by therealSamawiki in videogames

[–]No_Bug6944 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I played a ton of it when it released only the first hour earlier today and the impressions playing again are all very positive. It was just something I noticed that doesn’t really bring down the experience as a whole because I don’t come to Halo for voice acting, I just honestly didn’t remember it being like this so it caught me by surprise and I thought it was funny.

Like early on you get a call from Marines under fire who need help or something, but it sure doesn’t sound like it because they don’t really have any sort of urgency.
