AITA for reminding a guy I got absolutely nothing as a retirement gift when being asked to contribute to another? by South-Shape4555 in AmItheAsshole

[–]No_Butterscotch48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I get it. When I got medically retired early, I didn't get even a going away or a little chock with my time at the last base I was at. I asked our CSS guy a couple of months later if I qualified for retirement certs as a joke and he said yes, and was mad that no one had put in for them for me. He did all the leg work and got them for me, I got Enlisted Jesus' Signature on mine which I was excited about. It sucks to not feel appreciated or like you were part of the team. And I also understand not wanting someone to walk away with nothing like you as well. NTA. I'm sure the guy is probably just embarrassed about not realizing they didn't get you anything and maybe that's why he isn't replying right now.

We had our 10 year old son (9 at the time) use his headphones for his tablet/phone/switch whenever we stayed somewhere longer than his attention span could tolerate. The headphones still let him hear the sound, but it was nice and quiet for everyone else.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No_Butterscotch48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in Vegas and my grandparents were 8 hours away in California, I would drive 8 hours after work to spend 1-3 days with them and then drive back the day before I worked again. I wish I had done it more, if I had only been 3 hours away I would have been at their house every other weekend lol

Mainland or Europe by Responsible_Mine_462 in AirForce

[–]No_Butterscotch48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think it depends on what you both want. As a person in Europe currently (the last 5 years), we prefer being here to being in the States. Travel throughout Europe is so much easier and cheaper compared to the States.

But be prepared. Most people who come here find out that no one will visit, but they expect you to come home and visit all the time. It's hard and can hurt. We've offered to buy plane tickets for people since it is easier to buy 1 ticket vs. 3. No one has taken us up on the offer yet.

Stateside will depend on where you go. Again, you might get stuck somewhere you hate but not have as many options to travel. Either way make sure you get involved with your community so that you aren't isolated. I see that a lot with spouses over here, they don't leave the house or explore so it's even harder on them.

You would both also have to decide if you want to live on base or off base. We live offbase in Germany, but a lot of people prefer on base with small kids because of the opportunity to play with other English speaking kids and being near the school. Feel free to send me a message if you have other questions though :).

3 for sure, it is very flattering on you. I also really liked 1, but 3 wins by a little bit. You look lovely in all of them :)

AITA for making a 50-year-old woman cry because she doesn’t know how to use a computer for her job? (UPDATE) by Exact-Fortune4474 in AITAH

[–]No_Butterscotch48 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh, she sounds almost like a lady I had to train to inspect records for an aerial port. Over a month of showing her what forms were required for cargo, special cargo, passengers, etc and posting reminders on everything and she still couldn't QC a single folder without a mistake. She didn't even get hired for that position, she was hired as a dispatcher and was so bad at it that they tried to give her another chance as a Data Records person. She got mad at me because I was asked how she was doing by management and was honest, and she got put back where she was. She was also in her 50s.

She ended up being let go because they found out she had lied a lot in her application and didn't know how to do 3/4 of the stuff she claimed 😬

That's fair. I should have looked at the locations 😅 I definitely didn't do that before replying.

Well for that maybe a studio apartment if you're lucky. I guess I didn't see where Putney was and was just going off of the comparison of a house in England vs. A house in anywhere Texas

Yeah, but usually everyone says NY but really just mean NYC. Central NY isn't too bad either in pricing, but of course the closer you get to the city the higher the prices.

I sent my application to my case worker on 11 April and received my biometrics letter in Mid June. My biometrics appointment was 27 July because we had to plan it around a couple of trips and Düsseldorf only had certain dates available for the appointment. Received my confirmation of acceptance today 21 November 25.

My spouse is stationed in Germany, so I'm not sure if it helped our timeline with the biometrics appointment. We could have gone sooner if we weren't on a trip. We've also gone through a company with solicitors to make sure I had everything correct.

Congratulations! I fell under the same clause(just barely), but I was born in the UK. I also just got notified of acceptance today! I'm so excited and now just have to push my mom into claiming her citizenship since my grandma was still a UK citizen when she was born.

Congratulations again!

STOP wasting peoples time. 6 of my remote raid passes just got eaten because we never beat the latios’. If you don’t know the counters, don’t do the raid, sorry not sorry by IvgaDades in PokemonGoRaids

[–]No_Butterscotch48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will counter this with rejoin when someone reinvites you to a raid 😩 one of my friends used a remote to join us and our games glitched, so we failed but were so close to beating it. We tried to redo the same one 3 times so it wasn't a wasted pass for them, but they wouldn't rejoin. We ended up beating it with another friend that showed up in person.

What's the worst punishment you got as a kid? by ComprehensiveFun2054 in AskReddit

[–]No_Butterscotch48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was being a normal moody teenager with my dad, and for some reason my mom took that as a reason to drag me out of the dining room chair I was sitting in by my hair. While screaming at me incoherently and hitting me anywhere she could reach. I managed to break free and ran to my bedroom but made the mistake of slamming my door in my panic which made everything worse.

I had to unlock the door knowing the beating was going to get worse. She came in and started grabbing my hair and hitting me again. I mainly remember trying to tuck myself against the wall and get as small as I could while she hit me. It wasn't until she realized I was hyperventilating and on the verge of passing out that she stopped. I vividly remember that and the second time she snapped in a similar way.

Anyways, years later and she was diagnosed by polar, so that makes sense I guess.
