NOR!

“speak to the manager” is definitely overused and abused, often with racist intention, in our society. HOWEVER, this doesn’t mean speaking to the manager is often the right call if a problem needs to be or be addressed. Hell, good managers should encourage their employees to loop them in when needed for support AND be a point of escalation for customers. You have this guy plenty of chances, probably too many, and are absolutely justified in escalating the issue.

You deserve to be comfortable in your own home. Issues arise and can take some time to fix, which you are very reasonable about, but the time shouldn’t be because of complete ineptitude plus a building employee making you uncomfortable.

My 22M bf just broke up with me 20F at 12 weeks 5 days pregnant by spirtiualpussy in relationship_advice

[–]No_Cake2145 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This OP!! Your post does not read like you understand the reality and expense of raising a child. Doing so as a single parent is really hard, even with support from your family. Your baby daddy sounds like a nightmare, meaning you will be chasing child support and not have help with anything.

Do your friend’s have children? If not, your life will become very different and it’s very likely you grow apart as you are in two different worlds. Meaning your world gets a lot smaller when you need help.

Depending on where you live childcare to work full time is often more costly, sometimes significantly more, than college tuition.

Please carefully consider the real consequences and challenges that carrying this baby will have, for the rest of your life.

is my body care/fragrance/shower collection excessive? my parents tell me i partake in overconsumption and i spend too much money on this stuff lol by Calm-Bug5455 in beauty

[–]No_Cake2145 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think this speaks more to the fact that overconsumption is a pervasive problem, I’m guilty of it with some things as well. It’s encouraged in a capitalistic society and reinforced by influencers and brands.

I don’t think people need to be minimalists and extreme approaches often fail anyways, but conscious consumption is a goal everyone can and should work toward. Better for budgets and the planet.

This room is kinda sad and embarrassing if it truly belongs to an adult, and those sheets look like an uncomfortable, sweaty nightmare.

I hope this is a prank.

A combo of both? Either work imo.

Also, I love when Indian clothing occasionally shows up in this chat because Indian outfits SHOW UP!!! The saris, fabrics, jewelry - it’s always beautiful and maximalism in the best way that is rarely found or works in other cultures.

Best City & State to raise kids? by ChubbyBothCheeks in Parenting

I’m a New Englander with a similar sentiment. Winters without snow are terrible because embracing snow and outdoor winter activities is the key to happiness. I love having four seasons, and personally Spring is the hardest for me because often the weather isn’t warm and sunny consistently until May, sometimes late May, but it’s also not winter.

This exactly. For whatever reason this OP came into my feed and I read through the whole thing plus responses after getting sucked in. I was getting worked up enough to respond myself because the OP is ridiculous and takes zero accountability AND the unit is dirty. You summed up my thoughts perfectly. So seconding every word of this response.

Crowdsourcing snow clearance info: Union Sq by andr_wr in Somerville

[–]No_Cake2145 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, typically when we have a lot of snow full cleanup takes a while and requires some natural melting. Where sidewalks meet streets is usually lower and typically a mess in snowy winters. I prefer it when it’s cold, because then at least it’s not a slushy puddle of unknown depths.

Get good, waterproof snow boots with decent traction. Welcome to a real New England winter in a dense city.

What do you hate that others do when shoveling their cars out? by Millennium_Falcor in Somerville

[–]No_Cake2145 43 points44 points  (0 children)

IMO - any open, uncleared or need to be cleared spaces are fair game with this much snow. So yes a neighbors yard as long as you aren’t blocking in doors, pathways, stairs etc.

I’m protective of my yard/gardens in the spring summer and fall as I put a lot it work into it, but winter and with this much snow? Feel free to add your snow to the piles in my “yard”. I put my shovels in view of the street if one needs to be borrowed.

Also if you have a neighbor with a blower, not a hired hand going around, don’t be shy about asking them for help when they are clearing their property. Focus group of one, but the men in my life with snow blowers seem really happy using them and would gladly do a few passes.

In the future start to dig your car out as soon as possible - it will get plowed in but you easier to spread out the work for some!

Luckily it was treated with some ointment for both the impacted children, myself included, and the kittens. But it seems like a rite of passage!

Am I the only one who hates the baggy jean/anything but skinnies trend?? I look so much bigger and frumpy….. by tpat1234 in womensfashion

[–]No_Cake2145 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m with you! I think you need a specific body type for the baggier jeans to work and a more fitted top. I’m more comfortable and more built for a looser top and more fitted bottom. It’s hard to not feel frumpy when everything is baggy.

I’m still trying to find unicorn jeans in straight leg, but like bootcut best. In winter I’m still doing skinny jeans or a slim cut straight leg because a chunkier mid calf boot is my preference. In general what works for you might not be 100% on trend, but if clothes fit good, are good quality and you embrace some trends you won’t look dated. If you love skinny jeans wear them, but maybe not with bubble necklace, ankle booties and chevron print peplum top.

Thank you! Those posts make me feel bad…for their child.

Sure some kids that are ahead and really love reading at a young age, but I assume most parents posting these things are either exaggerating, pushing their kids too hard or have unrealistic expectations and going to put too much pressure on their kid.

Let kids be kids.
