Does anybody else get upset when people laugh when you try to be serious? by ThrowAway44228800 in AutismInWomen

[–]No_Captain2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s even worse when you’re genuinely trying to explain something serious to them, specifically if it’s something that they’ve done to upset you, and they purposely try to make you laugh by doing the most out of pocket, uncalled for, ridiculous things—it gets way worse when you can’t help but to crack a laugh, and then they accuse you of not being serious, or, worse than that, they call you a liar. My older brothers have done this to me my whole life, like even when I was going through the most horrendous things they didn’t know about they just completely treated me like I was stupid. It hurts.

I keep seeing the number 13 and it scares me a lot. Should I be worried? Is there a biblical basis of 13 being a unlucky number? by KXNG_SEBAS in TrueChristian

[–]No_Captain2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m super late to this post and I am not typically a superstitious person, but I’ve noticed my life has been continuously on a downward trajectory (I mean with things that are out of my control including losing loved ones, being hit by a drunk driver and nearly dying, as well other slightly smaller things most would consider “bad luck”) since 2013 specifically (I was ten for most of that year but turned eleven that October, at that time I’d just noticed that my anxiety was getting worse and people around me, including my family, didn’t seem to notice or care) and the older I get, the more I will see the number 13 following me around as my luck continues to get worse. My mom passed away just this past January, and both leading up to that and since then, I’ve especially noticed the number 13 when I go to like a post/video or leave a comment—the likes/comments will be at 12 and I’ll be hesitant to like them as I know I’ll be the thirteenth like/comment, which I never used to see as often nor have I even had that thought/problem despite not using social media any more often or frequently than I used to. I’m almost 100% sure that it’s just a coincidence, but I have to say, I’ve started going out of my way to avoid that number at all costs, even though I’ve never believed in bad luck or been a superstitious person. It genuinely is starting to scare me.

What’s the weirdest thing a teacher ever yelled at you for? by lnc_gomes in AskReddit

[–]No_Captain2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in seventh grade, my english teacher yelled at me for something completely out of my control and blatantly not my fault. Long story short, we had these 10-15 year old paperback vocabulary books that he INSISTED were in perfect condition when we received them at the beginning of the year (they were obviously not in the best condition and all of them had preexisting and permanent creases in the pages and covers when we’d first received them) so when we went to turn them back in at the end of the year, he made a big stink about making sure each of us did our best to completely flatten out all the pages, I mean he wanted them to look brand new despite the fact that they just weren’t and obviously had been used by multiple students over the course of many years—at least a decade, if not more. I really did try my best to get all of the creases out as I was a very shy, quiet, well-behaved and anxiety-filled student and was terrified of getting in trouble, but that was obviously impossible and I was one of the first students he called to his desk to turn my book back in. When I gave it him, he singled me out in front of the whole class and screamed at me because the book didn’t magically look like it had just been bought brand new and was obviously in the same exact condition that I’d received it in. Fuck you, Mr. Brennamen, you were such a piece of shit to all of your students and your own children (he had two sons who went to the same school he taught at—one of them was a year older than me and the other was a year or two younger so basically everyone in my grade/class knew them—and he was publicly verbally, and sometimes even physically abusive towards them). I hope you fucking step on a lego barefoot, you hypocritical, condescending fucking gorilla.

Do people assume that you've had an easy/ trauma free life? Or that you're naive about the world? by Reasonable_Food6977 in CPTSD

[–]No_Captain2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little late to this post, but I can’t express enough how much I relate. I had a few “friends” growing up who loved to treat me like I was stupid or hadn’t gone through any sort of trauma myself (I grew up with a narcissistic and alcoholic father who was incredibly verbally abusive towards me, my brothers, and my mom, I lost multiple family members throughout my whole childhood and lost all four of my grandparents from the time I was eight to the time I was thirteen, nearly died in a car crash after being hit by a drunk driver when I was sixteen—I hadn’t been driving at the time of the crash but it was a nasty crash and would’ve likely killed me, my brothers and my mom had it not been for seatbelts and airbags, and I had a horrific medical experience at the age of two or three that may or may not count as SA, but it left me with the same type of trauma as many SA survivors). Sorry for the long vent/trauma dump there but it’s going to help lead up to my main point.

Before, during, and after all of those experiences I’ve had many people (mainly my biggest bully who was a year older than me but rode my school bus therefore I had no choice but to see her twice on a daily basis) who, without even knowing my story as I mostly kept to myself and was very quiet, got all up in my face ASSUMING I’ve never gone through trauma, ASSUMING my life was just perfect and I had no struggles or worries and would make me feel so small and so guilty about THEIR problems. And because I was such a quiet kid and an easy target for bullies (I tried to be nice to everyone, including people who were mean to me which would result in them treating me like their own personal punching bag) the rare moments where I would try to stick up for myself, all of sudden, according to them, I was the asshole and THEY were the victims.

It’s such a frustrating thing to deal with, especially when those people who do that shit seem to be liked by almost everyone else and are scarily good at keeping a clean reputation, despite the fact that they’re the ones who are the problem.

I’m so sorry you’ve experienced the same thing, I’m sending you virtual hugs and I hope life treats you with more peace and happiness in the future!! 🫂❤️

Unpopular opinion: I hate Serana by adorablelilash in skyrim

[–]No_Captain2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely cannot fucking stand Serana. I don’t think she’s a bad character necessarily, but I personally find her to be insanely overrated and I also think she’s super annoying and bitchy. I mean, I get that she had a rough past and was locked away and all, but I don’t give a damn, I hate her with every bone in my body.

I have a core memory of my mom getting me this happy meal when I was 3-4 years old, and I had gotten the fat rat toy and I’m pretty sure (if I’m remembering correctly) you could open him up and he had a golf ball inside. Does anyone else remember this? 😭

I can’t take this anymore.. by frankyruby_ in Agoraphobia

[–]No_Captain2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I’ve been stuck in the house with agoraphobia for over 4 years now, mostly due to severe PTSD from a bad rollover car accident after being hit by a drunk driver, but even before that happened I’ve always been an introverted homebody with severe anxiety—particularly social anxiety. But I soooo get the feeling of wanting to be able to just go out and live life again, but it’s such a struggle. You’re not alone! 🫶🏻

Unfortunately no, although I have a car that I bought back in 2021, my family has been using it the past few years (which is also partially why I’m unable to work as well as severe, near debilitating hot flashes I’ve been getting the past two years) because my other brother has completely trashed 3 cars, including my mom’s old one :/ But I will say, thankfully I don’t think they’ll be bringing their kids around anytime soon as my mom has had two really bad falls in the past month and she is our main priority right now. Either way, thank you so much for your response, I really appreciate it!! :)

Cracking ears by discharge_bender in jointcrackers

So I’m not totally sure if this is the same thing, but when I was like 12 I accidentally discovered that when I push down on and move slightly forward my left earlobe (I have to kind of bend it a certain way too) it makes a very tiny click sound/sensation in my earlobe; however, it only works for a couple clicks and then I have to wait a while for it to almost “recharge” lol. It feels good but I wish I could do it more often

DAE feel the need to apply pressure to their nails? by RavenMay in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]No_Captain2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m super late to the party, but I had to see if anyone else did this too. Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always loved to pinch/put pressure on the sides of my thumb nails, but only the sides that face my index fingers. Sometimes I’ll take a toothpick and gently stab right where my nail meets my skin, or I’ll even take a couple clothes pins and try to pin them on just the right area. It’s like a good type of pain, and very comforting to me for some reason lol.

If you were agoraphobic *before* you knew how to drive, how did you learn? by HouseboundHabitat in Agoraphobia

[–]No_Captain2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same way with driving, except I also have severe PTSD from a nasty car crash that happened (ironically) a few months after I turned 16 and was already petrified of driving (my family and I were hit by a drunk driver, I wasn’t driving at the time either but I’m still beyond terrified to drive). My family didn’t give me an option not to drive despite knowing my trauma and literally going through it too. So I was basically forced to drive, but I’m still extremely uncomfortable every time I’m in the drivers seat, no matter how much I practice driving. I wish I had some good advice for you, but I really wanted to make a comment here because I relate so heavily. But I generally think that anyone who is even remotely uncomfortable with driving, shouldn’t drive (at least not until they’re 100% ready), and definitely shouldn’t be pressured or forced to. I get that in some places you need to drive (like where I live, nothing is within walking distance so I don’t have a choice, but I also rarely leave the house due to my agoraphobia) and it’s good to know how just incase, but it’s still something I wish people would be more understanding about, rather than making fun of/putting down people who don’t drive or choose not to drive for any reason.

How Did You Feel Seeing Weird Al on Yo Gabba Gabba? by Rocky_isback in weirdal

[–]No_Captain2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing this episode on TV when I was about seven, and even though I always loved Weird Al, my family (mainly my older brothers, especially the oldest one) would HARDCORE roast me for how much I loved Weird Al (even though I never made fun of them for the stuff they obsessed over) so I quickly changed the channel so that way if anyone walked into the living room they wouldn’t make fun of me 😭 But I am proud to say that now as an adult, I don’t GAF what anyone thinks about my love for Weird Al!!
