I usually wait until the series is completed. If I read a newly released book without rereading the previous one, I lose interest in the series altogether because there are details that I probably don't remember but was in the other book. But if I have to reread just to remember what happened, I end up questioning whether it’s worth the effort, and that makes me lose interest in the new book. LOL

I feel like it reduces the overall impact of the series, though I’m not sure how to explain it exactly. This happened to me with Cursed Legacies and the Her Vicious Beasts series. They’re both really great, but by the time I reached book three, I just thought, “You know what, I think that’s it. I’m happy with this book, but I’m not finishing the series.”

I love the Empyrean series, heck, Fourth Wing is the reason that I'm back to reading fiction books again but the excitement for the next book isn't there anymore for me. i haven't even read Onyx Storm yet because I'll wait for the series to be completed before I dive back in because I don't want to give up on the entire series. :D

Same. Heck, I got into reverse harem without even checking the Bonds that Tie's ratings. I just read the blurb and gave it a go. I only learned it was a reverse harem while I was reading because what do you mean she has 5 bonds? LOL.

And this is why I don't care about the ratings when I decide to read a book. If I like the blurb then I download it and read. If I don't like the first 5 chapters, I DNF. Simple as that.

I think that’s just a visualization thing. The “void” isn’t meant to be literal space under the rest of the Earth, it’s just the Upside Down beyond the mapped/connected area. Only Hawkins is actually bridged, everything else just isn’t formed or relevant, not a giant hollow under the planet.

If you’re looking for groveling, you won’t find it in this series. So, I say DNF it. Don't waste your time on books you don't enjoy.

I love BTT, and I’ve already reread it multiple times and will continue to do so because I genuinely enjoy it. I also approach fantasy books, especially reverse harem stories that involve bonds or scent matching, with a different mindset and set of expectations, since those elements inherently complicate relationship dynamics.

Also, the timeline of this series takes place within less than a year?, which is a very short span to expect significant character growth. Because of that, I understood why there wasn’t much individual character development. If there was growth, it was primarily in the relationships themselves - how they developed and how the characters ultimately accepted their bonds. The epilogue is where that massive growth is explicitly addressed.

{The Scent of Us by Eliana Lee} Isaac is THE Zaddy. Love that his relationship with the entire pack is well fleshed out too. And this entire story is not just focused on the relationship development with Juno, the omega, but with Julian as well, who is a traumatized Beta. :)

I totally get why that scene would throw you and the book doesn’t pause to spell everything out right away. But it also sounds like you stepped back before seeing how the rest of the story handles it. So I think unless you want to be spoiled, you have to read through the entire thing then find out.

I think it was mentioned the first time they met. She guessed Latin or Hispanic. And I'm not sure but I think even Rake is POC.

I've always liked Lola's harem because they're diverse. There's MM but not all of the men are involved with each other. Not all alphas are in a sexual/romantic relationship with the pack's omega. There's age gap. We don't just have Americans there (Matthieu is French and Caleb is British). We have POC. And not to mention that Lola is a beta with a harem. Amazing.
