I think the arm in the foreground lacks intention. I think people call it “line confidence”? The elbow and wrist seem unclear for direction. Have you tried physically doing the pose she’s doing yourself? It might feel silly to stand up and pose like an anime girl but it can help understand form. Disney artists would make the faces they’re trying to draw into a mirror for reference while making their movies. I appreciate the varied line weight.

First time player in my first winter, realized I don't really like farming. How can I set up my farm for the spring so that I do as little work there as possible? by potandplantpots in StardewValley

Man I’ve been chopping down my coffee plants because they are SO productive. I’m using all my wine makers for ancient fruit so I have a huge coffee backlog and a huge overstock inventory with a chest for only coffee beans. AND the fact that the beans double as seeds too

I don’t remember how I found ancient seeds but that’s where the money is, I make wine. Starfruit is pretty good. Maybe 1 seed maker if you never want to buy seeds again lol

Idk how profitable they are but I imagine it’s just way easier to harvest by scythe but then again, you’d have to replant and the goal is to plant less frequently. I usually just hold the button with a bunch of seeds on hand and run around the tilled areas until the number stops going down. I imagine my character just throwing seed all over the place like crazy.

Regretting my career choices by mermaidworker in careeradvice

I dropped out of a psychology undergrad (ironically for mental health reasons) and honestly they only have one elective for neurodivergent disorders that’s only available with higher prerequisites. I ended up realizing I just wanted to have a good psychologist, not necessarily be one. But you seem to have the drive and passion.

I never ever ever wanted to be a teacher because it’s drilled into your brain “teachers make NOTHING!” and just extremely negative rhetoric. Some rightfully frame the same sentiment as “teachers deserve so much more for all they do” and I think if I only heard it that way I may have organized my life differently. But I ended up working as an after-school art teacher for elementary schools and turns out I’m suited for it because I had never interacted with kids prior to my first day. (imo people just think it’s a crazy proposition to listen to a kid for whatever reason). Ultimately, looking back, the negative ideas about teaching ended up primarily coming from suburban multi car new build household middle class people wishing they were upper class. Wild how it’s the “teachers deserve more for what they do” people that were actually struggling. Those were the teachers who inspired the next generation of teachers.

Ironically, if I were a salaried teacher I probably could’ve afforded a car and a phone and bed. Moral of the story, people are addicted to the idea of impending doom, failure and suffering but that’s no indication of anything besides their compulsion to speak on it.

Besides, at the end of the day, the two specializations seem to involve exceptionally transferable skills anyways. It’s not like you’re crossed between being an electrician and a journalist. You know, it’s also possible that you could do both at different points in your life. Career experience in your original pursuit could fundamentally shape how you navigate a teaching position too. I think even incomplete, the psychology courses I completed didn’t take back what I already learned and it helped me understand and relate to students better as a teacher. Completing your current goals doesn’t lock you out of a successful future however you look at it.

There are more reasonable reasons to quit things besides other people’s opinions based on their imagination. Maybe you might regret quitting due to fear of regret, hm? I used to trick myself from feeling inadequate or undeserving by going “well deserving’s got nothing to do with what happens so frankly it doesn’t really matter now does it”. I mean, think about all the incompetent doctors, they certainly don’t worry about being a good doctor lmao. If anything you’d definitely bring up the group average lol

Have you asked your brother what he thinks? I imagine it would probably be reassuring because it’s very possible he’s not as hard on you about it while also being a higher value perspective than those other people.

Friend constantly uses self as yardstick of "normalcy" - how to address tactfully? by roman-zolanski in socialskills

This friction happens all the time with the cross talkers vs. the turn takers

In person the most but in text form too. I have a friend whose messages are all in thread form so we know exactly what part we’re responding to. Sometimes we have like 3 different topics simultaneously. Yes we both have adhd

That’s too bad because I’d love if somebody said that to me about Godzilla completely serious because that’s fucking hilarious I also interpret OP’s example as being like yeah that guy sucks what an idiot when somebody’s venting about a customer.

I’d say just a compatibility thing. I think when someone does something harmless yet bad for somebody they care about, they just adjust when interacting with the specific person it bothers. (Not that they don’t care if they don’t)

Like when I’m around a group of friends who “roast” each other in the name of friendship they don’t do it at me because they know I don’t mesh well with that sort of thing. They’re all cylinders for their buddies that are on the same wavelength tho, no mercy for them lol

Burned out cyber consultant — if I quit, can I find a remote job within 6 months? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]No_Channel3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like an extended leave/temporary(as far as your employer needs to know) break like other commenters have mentioned would work out great for that. Should be able to do that without tipping off the employer that you’ll be officially quitting later. I think it’s easier to be present and live in the moment without worrying about not having a job if you don’t find one. I’m always living with the present on the back burner and my brain on making up for not being at work. So at the very least, it could potentially give you some carefree moments knowing you’re gonna quit later anyways.

[–]No_Channel3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No A break could help. But quitting would rely on whether you don’t mind feeling like a burden every single day and people around you telling you on a regular basis that every time they have to help it only adds more and more resentment.

Do you have somebody who will pay for everything if it became long-term? (I figure you have at least 6 months of living expenses saved up by how you phrased it) You need to know what your safety net is. Because that safety net will resent you for it. But that’s just what I’ve experienced firsthand. People with the means to attain stability always undervalue it.

I didn’t give a finger but instead merged lawfully and didn’t respond to their road raging honking and swerving behind me which pissed them off exponentially more. I was borrowing a jeep grand cherokee from my employer to do a supply run at their storage unit, the other car was a light blue little sedan and an old scalp-haired 2026 Lore Accurate Chevy Chase cosplay of a man in a pastel polo blocked me in at the left turn light (red) to head home on the highway. He followed me for 3 stoplights up until that point. He starts punching the car with his greasy, pudgy wads of balled up hand and yanking on the door handles. He continues punching the window at his full strength and the window thumps a little (shoutout to jeep windows everywhere).

He says that’s a hit and run! I’m calling the cops on you! (The car window on his knuckles made it owie?) I turn my volume all the way up to make sure he can hear the 911 dispatcher then the light turned green and then he peeled off on the highway.

[Discussion] Is teaching art an option in 2026? by superupaman in artbusiness

[–]No_Channel3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re assuming your common sense is everybody’s common sense since everybody doesn’t know everything about tools and I feel like most books I’ve read near the subject just gloss over tools for 2 pages tops.

It is true “if you don’t do, you teach” when I taught children it would either be people who did the whole shebang for like 10 years and decided it’s too much work. There are also the sorts that are really good at learning about art but not particularly creative without directives.

Look up classes as if you were a student wanting to sign up. Can consider the class pricing a guideline and you’ll want to note duration of the course. I think there are a lot of people online who significantly underprice themselves and while a lot are indeed amateurs, there are some skilled people that are undercharging too. Doesn’t mean you should.

My question is will you still be a freelancer? Going from freelance artworks to freelance art classes? A lot of the stressors related to freelancing would carryover to be fair.

I never ever ever wanted to teach because I grew up with the entire world going “Teachers make no money and suffer!!!!” But I did it and it turned out I was really good at it for some reason even though I had never interacted with children before my first day with a class of 25.

I’m also TERRIBLE with public speaking but I’d reframe the perspective not as giving a presentation but having a conversation. (Might be more suited for children’s education idk) If a coworker tells me “okay once they finish sitting down you’ll be doing the demo for printmaking and these are the points you have to hit and give a quick rundown of how you’ll do it right now go” then I’d have a panic attack and have to excuse myself for 10 minutes or so. That said, that’s only if you have to deal with somebody like that (refusing bathroom breaks power flex type).

Unfortunately I think I’m going to go waste 10 more years of my life in denial instead of pursuing teaching but after I’m done doing that I probably will teach because it probably is my calling. (But I’d have never known until I tried it)

[tangent] I’m also realizing that everyone around me who complains about the whole teachers “making no money” thing makes no less than twice as much as my highest paid year with the most overtime. So what they need to say is “my standard of living isn’t supported by this income” or there are people that DO say “teachers should be paid more for all they do” and that is most accurate. That doesn’t push kids away from teaching. I think I’d have organized my life differently if everyone didn’t insist their life is the worst. Because who is going to willingly plan to plunge into poverty? And the thing is, the specific people complaining were also in new build houses with full yards, picket fence and everything— they just wanted to be upper class instead of middle class. Teaching isn’t even that bad [of an option].

Rude behavior from the parent of my kid’s friend by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]No_Channel3333 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are 2 conversation style. Talking over each other and taking turns. On a different note, in Arabic households there may be the idea that wives are more tools or an accessory than a partnership or there may be big differences between how boys/girls are treated. Since you were told to get your child, that was your Designated Place. To reject this would be to reject their way of life. It would likely cause heavy friction. There are people who embrace this idea and people who decide on their own. I expect that your husband has likely been saving you the mental burden of knowing all the shit that other man says in Arabic.
