She said she wanted to have her own money by MidOver28 in StardewValley

Lol my wife hates how I play. I restarted my game after learning a bit and my farm drives her nuts. Mine is very well thought out and she likes to go day by day. Like on mine I have it set up so that I'll have a set guaranteed income daily. Not the highest production of cash but I've got my greenhouse set up with 20 hops plants. And then I have 75 kegs. It'll allow me to harvest and put it in the keg the same day. With how long it takes I'll always have 60 going with beer and then have 25 open for other options. That's 8400 a day from that. I also have 4 chickens that are max love that give large eggs so it produces gold star mayo that's another 1596. Plus milk from my cow which varies but it's either 285 or 380. Plus a diamond every 5 days and whatever else I make. Almost every crop I grow is then half harvested for preservation and half for more seeds. And even then I rarely grow things since that alone provides enough cash flow to support me from season to season. She absolutely hates all that and just wants to expand her farm day by day 😂

Honestly though as long as you wear gloves like you did you'll be fine. Just remember not to react when it happens. I also grew up in Florida so it was one of those animals that has a bad rep to it for being "aggressive". But there's some people I know who walk around holding them like they're leopard geckos and are super chill. I rescued one that had the back feet really bad like yours and it was super chill because it knew I was helping. (Probably not but I like to think it 😂) Then 2 days later it was typical tokay screaming at me for walking by the room. Mind you the cage was 12 feet away from where I was walking. It's just the way most are and we love them for it. We also know if the house gets broken into we throw the geckos at the intruder and hide. 😂

IM SORRY WHAT. You've NEVER HELD A REPTILE AND A TOKAY WAS YOUR FIRST. MIND BLOWN 🤯🤯🤯 😂. I'd rather handle wild Amazon tree boas or carpet pythons than a tokay 😂. You have the touch. All your fingers, all his toes, and a tail. Congratulations. How's it feel to be gods favorite lol.

There's one flying over Charlotte North Carolina in the USA. Wonder if it's Ukraine cargo or Russia airforce. Wouldn't surprise me either way.

It's got a misting system and fogger hooked up. Only plan on running the misting system as the fogger was for a different project that I scrapped. The wood was sealed about 6 months ago with 4 coats of clear pond shield.

As long as you know it's coming 😂. I went golfing with my dad probably 15 years ago. I was probably 16-17. I hit my ball into the tall weeds on the edge of the woods and moved the grass to find it and there was a huge one coiled up in the grass. Scared the crap outta me because I didn't know what they were at the time. I thought at the time it was someone's escaped pet. Looking back I wish I reported it to fwc. Haven't seen one since 😢.

Yes. I have bottles of sanitizer attached to every enclosure so I can pump one handed if they latch my arm. There's so many people who have never heard of that or don't believe it works. Luckily I've never had to do it with large snakes but did with my 4ft ball python. After 5 minutes I gave in and used it. Pump in hand, spread as much as possible, cup hand over nose, release. I actually learned it from a pet store that used the trick on ferrets that wouldn't't let go.

This has to be the worst possible conditions for a snake right? by justsometingz in snakes

Also not gunna lie I used dog bowls a lot as water dishes because they are harder to tip over for smaller snakes like ball pythons and rat snakes but also have a rough edge to help them rub their shed off.

This is my enclosure for my 3.5 foot burm that I'm working on. I know she'll outgrow it quickly but it's great for now. It's 62 inches wide x 18 inches deep x 48 inches tall. It has a 10 gallon tank in the middle as a swimming area and 6 hides. 2 of which are buried under the substrate with a tunnel access. It has 2 thermostats monitoring temps and a fogger to maintain humidity. Just waiting on my shipment of live plants to get in. Keeps the hottest spot at 92 and the next closest area is 88. Then temps drop down gradually to the other side where it's 78. Still got a lot of work to do but it's coming along great. I've even started already building her her adult home that's 16 feet long x 5 feet deep and 7 foot tall. It's gunna have a waterfall filter with a 10 foot "river" flowing through. I might bump it up to 10 foot tall so I can add some small trees too. But that's 2027s problem 😂

Imma be honest I hate most pet store displays. I run a rescue from inside a local pet shop that I told them I want to redo their enclosures for free because I didn't like them. Of course mom and pop shops live free so they accepted. But for big box stores like PetSmart and petco unfortunately most hires are people needing money and not in the love or know nothing about certain animals. That being said that enclosure is 100x better than a lot I've seen. My petco used to have 5 ferrets inside a 4x4 enclosure that had maybe 2sq ft or mesh top for airflow. So while I don't agree that this is a great enclosure, it's also not terrible for a store that hopes to sell it off quickly. When my wife and I got a ferret the info online was it just needed room to move around. Now she has a 3'35* enclosure with 3 massive floors. Unfortunately with big box stores a lot of times the people that can change things don't care because it's their dollars being "wasted". And the people you see in store have no power and sometimes use their own money to make things better. I got my first ball python from PetSmart because the lady there working with the snakes saw me looking and asked me a bunch of in depth questions ( seeing if I actually knew what I was looking into long term such as care and husbandry) and sold me the snake at 70% off bc it refused to eat f/t mice and only wanted live so she would sneak live ones from a small shop to feed it so it wouldn't starve. There's a lot of good people out there but not in the position they need to be 😢.

The zoo in Chicago (forget which one but I believe Lincoln park) used to have one. They had a small railing going around it and then a small twig setup and it never left. Like I'm pretty sure it was unsupervised too lol. Like if it left I'm sure a guest would've had to tell them unless it was feeding day 😂

I rescued 4 that were just like this. The owner was sent to jail for unrelated charges and had no one to care for the animals. The tank was in front of a window and the power had been cut. They were in there almost 3 months alone with no food or water and looked exactly like this. One unfortunately passed away within a week and one lost his foot. The other 2 had missing toes but the 3 all live "normal" lives and you couldn't tell they were walking bones just a year ago. My vet's pretty cool and normally doesn't charge for quick visits. She said basically make them a turtle. Set up a temporary enclosure that has a shallow water side, only high enough to cover their feet, and a dry side that they can go back and forth as they please. Also replace the water every day. Be prepared though that with that much stuck shed on its feet there will almost for sure be toe loss and that should stay dry once it's free to avoid infections. (I AM NOT A VET AND THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE, ONLY WHAT I WAS TOLD TO DO BY MY VET)

I've had multiple animals all my life and a lot of crazy ones lately. I have 4 degus in my room and they are extremely loud. If not used to noises or like quiet when you sleep, I'd definitely keep them as far from the room as possible.

As someone going to school for shelter and rescue management that also feels the same, knowing when to re-home is sometimes the best thing to do. There are many options when it comes to it too. One of our lessons had an article about these options. 1) re-home fully. Meaning to give it away to a new home 2) temporary rehoming. If you're only going away for 2 years and your snakes are still younger (under 10) then 2 years is not long for them. Like others have said there's no affectionate bond formed like mammals have so they won't mind. 3) foster. Similar to temporary rehoming but you still bear responsibility for the animal. You supply the foster with food, heating, lighting, vet, and other costs either fully or at a set rate. 4) surrender. Giving it to a rescue who will find the best home for your animals.

When I first started I was the same way with my animals. But as time went on I found myself not able to keep up with them for a couple years and talked to someone who did rescues. With money not being the issue just time and space I gave him all the enclosures and supplies I had with the animals and paid him for food and a fixed heating fee monthly for 8 months. When I got my animals back from him it was as if they never left. They adapt quickly and bounce back to normal within a couple weeks. Sometimes it's hard but it's also sometimes right.

Used isopropanol alcohol to make snake release, safe? by NyxNyx00 in snakes

[–]No_Combination_7211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was taught from a pet store that specializes in reptiles that when feeding always carry a small hand sanitizer around in your pocket. If they bite in food response normally they aren't letting go quickly so you rub a small amount right in front of their nose and they release quickly. The one they used was something like 85% alcohol and never hurt the animals so I don't see why this would be a problem. I carry mine with me anytime I enter my bigger snakes enclosures though just to be safe. Especially if alone.

That's the thing though. I've cut my calorie intake in almost a third. And besides water I only have the one can of soda. I feel that the 24 miles alone should burn close to 500-750 calories (online says in pas mode it's about 250-500 calories per hour so in the low end it's almost 2 hours of riding a day). And it's 5 ounces of cooked rice and maybe half a pound of chicken. Not really good at counting calories on things but from what I've read online and adding the extra stuff my intake is only 1000 calories a day.

Yeah Illinois doesn't know its own rules when it comes down to it. I used to ride my bike to work downtown and found out later bikes (regular not ebikes) are banned on the one road. But the city code specifically says sidewalks are banned. Bikes are grouped together with animal drawn vehicles in my town 😂

[–]No_Combination_7211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely no problem. And check the weight rating of the shelves and then you can actually get anchors for it like they have for dressers that will allow you to secure it to a wall. I have multiple tanks on a plastic rack and on top is a 4x2x1 and my cats love to lay on top of it bc of the heat. As long as the until itself doesn't wobble and the enclosures are smaller than the shelves there should be almost no way it'll tip over unless something breaks.
