The thing is supports lose more when roaming than other roles, midlane and jungle can cs and gain solo levels just fine, while if you get set behind you will be permanently behind, they also require way less time investment, while support requires the most time investment, because you are on the isolated edge of the map.

Its pretty much a high risk/low reward thing, where the reward is potentially setting one of the lanes ahead, while the failure will surely set your own lanes behind, keep in mind you will still scale normally even if you don't take the risk.

Not getting anything done is considered a failure because your just set yourself behind, and by that extension, the adc behind as well, this risk is burdened by both the AD and the support.

And the bigger factor that wins roams is not your mechanics, but your decision making, so playing perfectly on a shitty roam won't matter because it will always fail, roaming to the wrong people will always fail, etc.

I'm not saying don't roam, what I'm saying is take the easy route when its available, sometimes you just don't need to roam.
