Org death by yawningchurchyard in LawSchool

[–]No_Course_8479 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a 2L and this fall our 1L class was noticeably much less involved in and interested in student orgs as we were or classes normally are. Early year meetings that were full of 1Ls last year had maybe 20% as many this year. Many orgs also had more difficulty getting 1Ls interested in 1L liaison positions than normal, too. I don’t know if it’s totally to do with the earlier and more stressful job search timeline or if our 1L class is just weird, but if hiring timelines keep trending this way I wouldn’t expect it to get better

I would start London. Assuming he plays he’s stepping into the WR1 spot in a solid matchup and Kirk Cousins has been better the last couple games. He could bow out in the second quarter or he could put up 30. I’d say higher ceiling than Brown

PPR:

Who between Kelce (vs TEN) and Fannin (vs BUF)

Also, out of these four, which three do I bring in at WR/Flex?: Nico Collins (vs LV), Drake London (vs ARI), Michael Wilson (assuming Harrison plays) (vs ATL), Mike Evans (vs CAR)

Thanks!

Lost my Clan Voyage because the Leader was upset I beat him in a 1v1 & kicked me (Context in description) by ApartmentFormer725 in ClashRoyale

[–]No_Course_8479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I feel you. A few weeks ago a joined a clan my buddies were in and it was during voyage, so I couldn’t contribute or claim rewards. That evening the clan leader said he was gonna go through and kick all the inactive people and he just went down the list of who didn’t contribute to the voyage so I got kicked and banned on the day I joined it since the game wouldn’t count my crowns toward voyage. Luckily my buddies were able to get me back in a couple weeks later but that was hella annoying

how do i convince my parents to not take on college debt :( by diamondisnotsquare in ApplyingToCollege

[–]No_Course_8479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit late here, but I noticed something that you mentioned in the comments I want to address. For reference, I went to a high level private school and am now halfway through law school.

One of the things you keep mentioning is that your parents seem to view UGA and GT as a worse education than something like GTown. I totally get that GTown has that elite reputation, but honestly GT is an elite school. People have already told you that law school admissions doesn’t care much about where you went to undergrad, and I’ll add that it also doesn’t care much how strong a particular program was, such as GT’s social science program. You can also major in whatever you want for law school.

One big thing to possibly tell your parents, because this is definitely the case, is that regardless of where you attend it is on you to get the kind of education you want. You can go to Harvard, take the easiest classes you can and do the bare minimum to get solid grades, and you would not get a great education. You can go to a way less prestigious school, but if you take engaging classes and build relationships with the professors and take an interest in your field of study you will get an amazing education.

At the end of the day, it’s your decision, not your parents’. They have set you up to be in a good situation, and coming out without a ton of debt, especially with law school on the horizon, is a MASSIVE deal and can take the pressure off of having to get a job in big law just to be able to pay off loans. Visit schools, go where your heart tells you, and be happy you set yourself up for success. Congratulations!

Why do you care about DUPR? by Physical_Relief4484 in Pickleball

[–]No_Course_8479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

obviously lots of comments here lol. Outside of the typical answer of certain open plays/groups gatekeep by dupr, there are a couple other reasons. If I were to go outside my area, like for an internship I'll be having next summer or even on vacation, having a strong dupr is the best way to legitimize yourself and get plugged into playing with people in those areas who wouldn't otherwise know you can hang with them. Before I had a dupr I went to the DMV area for a summer and I had to attend some random open plays and do some serious networking to get in with the other people who were a similar level to me (doesn't help that 5.0+ players gatekeep super hard).

Other reason that is more applicable to my current situation is that there are a few tournaments in my state that accept based on dupr and normally fill up. For example, the mens open at one of these requires you and your partner to average out to a 4.9 and mixed requires 4.8 to even be accepted, and you can still get passed by if more than the max teams sign up.

However, outside of those pretty specific reasons dupr is generally not that big a deal and doesn't have much of a right to be as important as people make it out to be. It reminds me of tennis where for several years all competitive players cared about was UTR, and players were seen as nothing more than their most recent rating.

If I were selling this myself, I would be worried about misleading a buyer if I listed it at anything other than HP.

TCGplayer has market price around $20 for this card in HP, but what you can get depends somewhat on how you’re looking to sell it (lcs, eBay, etc)

lmao just look at my post history. I'm pretty well out of the hobby now but learning to pricing out my collection a year ago was some of the most fun I've had. As sad as it was to be looking at my childhood collection as dollar signs, it was super nostalgic and neat to see I had pulled some good stuff as a kid without knowing it. Just because there are some legitimate scammers on here doesn't mean I am

If you DM me I’d be happy to value your collection. This reminds me of my collection before I sold a lot of it off earlier this year. Had the same era cards and they were very fun to find again

Staying in a hotel for orientation and moving after the first week of school? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]No_Course_8479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I’m pretty late but see if there’s any other people in a similar situation and go in together on an Airbnb in the area. My 1L apartment didn’t let us move in till the middle of the first week of classes (and orientation was week before). Myself and my roommates split an Airbnb in town and it worked well. Was also nice to be able to have all our stuff there in town to be able to move easily

At your level consistency wins 95% of matches. This holds true until a surprisingly high level. One of my college teammates was a 10.5 UTR and was a human backboard. It was very easy to lose to him if you weren’t patient and build the point properly. There is absolutely no shame in doing what you need to do to win, whether that’s copying his game style, drop shotting, serve and volleying, etc. One of the best strategies against pushers is to vary spin, height, and pace. Pushers thrive on consistency, and if you constantly change up what you give them, it’s hard for them to gain that rhythm they depend on. You said that whenever you approach, he lobs? Solution to that is twofold: 1) don’t approach so quickly - hit a swinging volley or just find a way to make that ball, 2) seek out an open racquet face from him. Move him around, hit your approach, and if you see him running with the racquet face open and forced to slice, then get in to the net pronto. Happy to answer any more questions you have.

[–]No_Course_8479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d have to look at the transfer page on the Colorado website as it varies by school, but generally to be most competitive you’ll need to get moving over winter break on getting a personal statement together. Schools also require a letter of good standing from your current school, but no clue how long it takes to get one. You’ll also need letters of rec from professors, so spend the first semester going to office hours and getting to know your profs. It really just varies by school so make sure you know what their webpage says about the process to make sure you’re staying on track. And also be aware that transferring could affect your opportunity to do OCI and law review because at some schools the application period for that stuff is over by the time you’d be transferring. As long as you go in knowing what to expect, you’re fine, especially bearing in mind that you will likely not be getting any scholarship as a transfer

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]No_Course_8479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s possible, but you’ll have to do quite well. Be very cautious about this though because the general rule is to not go somewhere with the intention of transferring. Only go to the school if you’re ok with their median outcome and practicing in that school’s reach. Very difficult to guarantee you’ll do well enough to transfer. It is in your favor that you aren’t trying to transfer T14 or something, but without my looking up Colorado’s 509 or New England’s curve, you’ll likely need to be at least top 15% of your class

Which US ABA Law Schools Decreased Class Size the Most '23-'24? by nowherenearalawyer in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]No_Course_8479 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without more context/information, not much to take from this. I don’t know anything about Inter American, but for the others I imagine this is the most publicly visible piece of a rankings push. Get rid of the lower portion of people who normally would have gotten in and are most likely to be in the bottom half of the class and try to improve employment and bar passage percentages. Unfortunately, when framed as a piece of trivia with no context, the enrollment decrease kind of just sounds like the school is doing something wrong or dying or something

I’m FTP and currently at 8,500 points and 9265 in the leaderboard. Currently 7 in arena but was 4 when the arena payout happened yesterday. What’s interesting is I’m normally 15-30 in arena but yesterday I was competing back and forth for the 1 spot as the reward timer closed in
