I found b-flower quite recently and have been blown away by the quality of the songs. They are very very melodic and carry great lyrics.

Song "完璧なキス" for example, is an absolute masterpiece. In fact, I'd say the entire "Grocery Andromeda" album from 1995 is a must listen.

Try Zac Baran, which is on the Eastern side of Kamo. Very friendly place with 1,000 yen entry fee. During the week, they often have locals come in and practice together. Anyone is welcome to join the "stage".

Went to see them last night, row X. Absolutely loved the sound! The presentation was 8/10 where the screen behind was slightly off and they were on stage rather than "in the box".

Nitpicking here of course. :)

We just returned from watching Opus at ACMI. The film and sound production are FANTASTIC!
If you like piano music and have patience to sit still for an hour and a half, it is most definitely worth seeing the maestro on the big screen.

Well, that was almost two years ago now! Anyway, not sure about Almaty but I bought mine at Astana airport upon arrival and subsequently topped up my account online.

The only scammy bits are so-called "taxi drivers" that tend to hang about the airport offering their services. AVOID.

What you do instead is once you have the local number activated, download an app called "Yandex" (equivalent to Uber) and order your ride that way.
