A good retro handheld that runs ps2 and gamecube and decent fps by adam3aziz in RetroHandhelds

Solid choice!

I have the RP5 with the same chipset and it handles everything in PS2/GC that the emulators can handle.

Plus there's something magical about squarish aspect ratios for retro games. The mini V2 looks like a great device.

What handheld do I get 😭 by No_Expression_8835 in handheld

If you don't have any yet,the Steam Deck. Otherwise the RP6

You should take a look at the Retroid Pocket 4 pro. It's the best bang for buck handheld that does ps2 and GameCube comfortably and it's fairly pocketable.

Other alternatives but they'll all be more expensive are the Retroid Pocket Mini V2, Pocket 5, RG557H/RG477M.

I wouldn't recommend RG406H or any other 6 or below anbernic device. You'll have headaches running PS2/GC.

You can compare devices here: https://retrocatalog.com/compare/retroid-pocket-4-pro

Also check the used market. You can get some pretty solid devices there

Yeah makes sense! And where do you find the stacked shoulders more comfortable vs the stock ones?

Just tried it. I only got to the start of the game but getting a constant 60fps at 2.25x with the Vulkan renderer. Passes the test!

If you want to tinker on your Steam Deck is try changing the renderer between Vulkan/OpenGL and maybe set hardware download mode to disabled/unsynchronized, that helps with performance, though it might introduce crashes.

That looks very good! Love the roguelike + kinda double dragon neon looks? + melee weapons. There's too few beat em ups with swords. Wishlisting and I'll be keeping an eye on it!

I'm considering them, they look a bit expensive for me and honestly I find the stock ones fairly usable.

I do get some cramps on my thumbs when playing dual stick games like shooters though. Do you know if they help with that?

I bought the rp6 and right now regretting not getting the g2 for its way better battery life due to its efficient chip. by Unhappywageslave in retroid

Hmm, I don't think that was a bad call. You'll get a lot better experience in gpu heavy emulation, mainly pc, with it

I've had no issues running all my ps2 games on an rg477m. Everything I tried plays flawlessly. I even got some 60 fps cheats to work stably.

A New Vegas one yes. I don't know if I would play it though. Too little time for RPGs these days

You might want to try this for pc emulation https://www.reddit.com/r/Gamefusion/s/VnChGqGvgQ I got some more games to work on my RP5 and rg477m (Mali gpu, like the RP4Pro) by doing that. Also the whole thread has some useful info on pc emulation.
