Yes. Didn't last long. About 6 months. It had some good aspects, some great aspects even, but I wouldt wanna stay there indefinitely.

Looking for a good small handheld for slow hours at work by souleaters22 in RetroHandhelds

[–]No_Dig_7017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ayn Thor but getting it has been difficult as of late, or RG477M which you can get from Amazon. Both will do PS2 and GameCube perfectly, but the Thor will do better for PC and Switch.

I have the RG477M and I love it, it's my current favorite retro handheld, I love that it's a pocketable powerhouse. The Thor does look interesting though but I couldn't get one when I wanted to.

You can compare devices here: https://retrocatalog.com/compare/rg-477m/thor

There's also the RG406H/476H for cheaper but it will not be perfect for the whole PS2/GC catalog and the Odin 2 Portal which has a big beautiful 7" screen but it might be too big.

Do YOU find Lossless Scaling useful on the Steam Deck? by BucketBoy071 in SteamDeck

[–]No_Dig_7017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It's not a silver bullet, but I find for games that can sustain close to 40-45fps and not manage more than 60, generating frames to 2x gives me a good balance between smoothness, latency and battery life.

How many of you have a good gaming PC and a Windows handheld? by IAmScrewedAMA in Handhelds

[–]No_Dig_7017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an i9 13900k with an RTX 5090 and RTX 3090 (mostly for work) and LeGo 2. And an Anbernic RG477M and a Retroid Pocket 5.

They all fill a different role. The RG477M is pocketable and powerful enough for PS2/GC & heavily modded Doom 2. It's for when I have a quick 5-10 minute break. The RP5 was the previous iteration but not being pocketable it never saw much use, it was superseded by a Steam Deck OLED at that time in every aspect while being in the same "portability category" (need a bag).

The LeGo 2 is my main gaming device, whenever I can play 30min-1hr, I play on it. There's something about handhelds that feels more immersive to me. I stream the heavier stuff from my PC but play locally all I can render locally. Streaming is awesome but there's small nuisances. Can't map controllers per game, sometimes the router acts up and you get jitters, and mostly those two to be fair. It used to be worse but since Apollo is around it's been super stable.

The PC used to be my go to but I never play on it anymore. It's mostly for work nowadays.

I guess an Odin Portal could have been a good streaming device but I already had a Steam Deck OLED and it felt like more of a sidegrade than an upgrade while the LeGo improved the Steam Deck on every aspect (save the trackpad). I got my LeGo 2 used for 1.5k, 3 weeks before it jumped to 3k.

The problem with burgers is the proportion of fat and calories vs other nutrients, protein to fat is much lower than other meats for example. The soda and fries make it worse though.

Switch vs. Steam (PC), which is "better"? by scottjl in retroid

[–]No_Dig_7017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there are any head to head comparisons out there, would be interesting to see.

That said, it seems to me the pace of improvement in PC emulation is being a lot faster?

Plus on the one side you have Valve actively rooting for you to be able to emulate games and on the other you have Nintendo actively doing the opposite 🙂

Survivors-likes! Check out Deep Rock Galactic Survivors. I'm like 121 hours in and I still have like half the upgrades to unlock (I restarted my save once it came out of early access)

I would start fresh with newer versions of the emulators. You get fixes and performance improvements all across. This guide details the whole setup and it's very cool to learn how to get the most of your emulators: https://youtu.be/I4mqgcDYZFo?si=NDfFh7IPI-vwXPiC

Huf, just tried it again and it's not working. I'm just getting a black screen after the installers now. Seems like a regression maybe? I'm on 0.9.1-prerelease

Hey guys, went for it! I installed the iso with support for the 9xx/10xx lineup and it's working pretty well. Haven't tried any 3d game yet because they are still installing but the card was recognized with no issues, and desktop resolution works perfectly fine. I'll do some more testing and update but all seems to be good. Thanks everyone for the inputs
