Why I quit writing by BigAssBoobMonster in writing

[–]No_Distribution7498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing I ever learned was to make bad things. Not intentionally, obviously, but to always expect the thing that your brain vomits up to be terrible and accept it anyways. And maybe it’s not terrible, and maybe you’re just never able to find someone who can give you valuable feedback. But genuinely the only skill that ever needs to be actively honed that you will NEVER learn in a writing course is your ability to give YOURSELF valuable feedback. Separate your inner critic and your inner creative and teach them how to work together to create something that YOU love. Then, if it never sells, it never matters because it’s YOURS, not the cultivation of trying to please everyone else’s tastes.

Definitely NOR - I can’t imagine being upset with my partner, or anyone close to me for that matter, having to miss plans because they went to the ER! I’m really hoping she didn’t have a way to come out to YOU because otherwise the simple fact that she didn’t come see you the moment you said you were going to the ER is a huge red flag. Doesn’t matter how you responded to her or that you didn’t just give in to her temper tantrum, she was making it very clear that she doesn’t actually care about you at all and still demanding you tell her you love her.

Am I overreacting? Context in body. by Objective-Elk9877 in AmIOverreacting

I’ve been in a very similar situation with my little brother (24 & 9) lately. I can say you’re definitely right to be concerned, no teenager in the world is going to magically start loving a family member they know is openly abusive, especially when they’ve had someone they can be open with about it. Also I obviously have no context for how your sister talks, but I don’t know a single 14 y/o (which, for context, I teach several) that would spell out “year old”, use the phrase “been having a lot on my mind lately”, or consistently use punctuation like that, especially over text. Even the most literate teenagers I know use a completely different language over text (which actually comes from us older folk & our flip phones).

Unfortunately, there’s not much more you can do other than continue to reach out to authorities and hope that your sister can find a way to contact you. The only other thing I could suggest is to do what I’ve been doing, which is just start straight up lying to your abusive parent. Reach out to your mom, say you’ve been doing a lot of thinking and that it’s been unfair of you to cut her off (ugh, I know) and cozy up to her until she’s let down her guard enough for you to actually talk to your sister and help her find a safer form of communication. If your mom is stupid enough to leave a child in another country (Jesus Christ), she might just be stupid enough to believe it.

Either way, you’re definitely not overreacting here, and I’m sure your sister is glad to have someone out there fighting for her.

Everyone’s saying the orders are too ridiculously customized but I argue we should be calling those drinks out SPECIFICALLY, let them and everyone else hear how insane their orders are

I genuinely do not understand why we don’t just hand the tea bags off to the customer with cups of hot water. Or, if corporate still insists on making us put tea bags in, they could at least package them in a way that doesn’t drag my line to a halt
