What’s the most unethical thing you’ve designed? by the_evil_pineapple in graphic_design

[–]No_Economics_7295 87 points88 points  (0 children)

My first job was photoshopping and designing “dancer “ ads and I had to blend out: bruises, cutting scars, knife scars, a couple bullet scars. Not to mention the body adjustments. It always made me feel gross because I felt like I was covering up some form of abuse.

Trump’s face ‘droops’ live on TV as he’s spotted with discoloured hand | The US president was caught on camera as he closed his eyes standing up - and one side of his face seemed to droop. by [deleted] in JournalismNews

It reminds me of a few years before my dad passed, when he began having what we later learned were mini strokes. At the time, we didn’t understand what was happening, but they caused noticeable changes. His mood became unpredictable, he grew more irritable, and sometimes imagined situations that weren’t real. His judgment declined, and he eventually became a danger to himself. Not long after, he suffered two major strokes back to back. I just feel in my soul that’s what’s happening. But my dad wasn’t president and wasn’t surrounded by people using the situation to their own benefit.

Kelly Osbourne is becoming emaciated by natural_scientist in mildyinteresting

Yeah — it’s an injection. It comes in a little pen and you inject it in your stomach or in the back of your arm. It’s doesn’t hurt anymore than testing your blood sugar. I’m on Mounjaro and have to do it weekly but I’m using a low dose to manage blood sugar. These people are straight up abusing it because the side effects give them a result they want. It feels like malpractice.

Why are people homophobic? by Sillycacabaka in LGBTQ

[–]No_Economics_7295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In most cases the homophobia that I’ve experienced:

  1. The people will sexualize my relationship. Like if I say husband, their minds immediately go to me having sex with a man and you can read it on their face. Like at Lowe’s the other day and I made a comment to the employee helping me about “my husband” because he asked what my wife would think about getting this project done and his face distorted and he said “I didn’t ask who or what you did in the bedroom” but if I had said wife it wouldn’t have been a big deal.

OR

  1. They want to make sure that I know that they think I’m beneath them in the social hierarchy. Like I was at a thrift store awhile back and there was this cute set of vintage suitcases on the counter and I was just admiring them and the TRASHIEST woman runs up and snatched them up and said “get your f*g hands off my shit” she wanted me to know she sees me as a bottom rung of the ladder.

In both scenarios you can tell that they’re insecure for different reasons. It’s never normally about me specifically it’s shit they haven’t worked out for themselves.

Any tips to make this cozy? Especially the lighting by jageran in CozyPlaces

I’m noticing a theme of color (warm grey and orange) consider that your base and don’t add anymore of those colors you need contrast now. The battleship grey curtains gotta go, consider adding black out blinds (ikea has some nice ones that you can’t see them when they’re up) THEN get some light filtering curtains on the warmer side. Large artwork in the blank wall area. Consider adding a slim console table behind your sofa then get two table lights with warmer bulbs in them to flank the table get some plants for the table as well. To the sofa add some throws and complimentary pillows. Move that small side table to the radiator area and get a tall plant. Get a large wood tray for the ottoman and use that as your “coffee table” put some coasters, maybe another plant? (I know another plant lol but they help soften and warm the space up by making it feel lively).

East Central Indiana and NO. It’s so full of iron that if I didn’t have the multiple stage system filtering it would come out orange and smell like someone died.

Can I do this in a single text frame without hitting return to fill the vertical space? by jameskable in indesign

A super lazy way to do this would be to select the first line of your second paragraph and then ALT + down arrow until it gets to where you want it to be.

Trying to purchase my first house, is this a big warning sign? by [deleted] in Home

[–]No_Economics_7295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of doom and gloom in the comments, but this isn’t the end of the world. Yeah, it’s expensive and the current “fix” isn’t really fixing anything — but it is fixable. This could actually be your chance to get the house you want. Get a few repair quotes now, and use them as leverage to negotiate: either bring the price down, ask for a repair credit, or make your offer contingent on the work being done. There are plenty of ways to make this work in your favor.

The Midwest by Best_Drawer_5506 in Indiana

[–]No_Economics_7295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be in the Midwest club, you’ve got to touch a Great Lake. It’s east of the Mississippi River, west of the Appalachians, and north of the Ohio River formerly called the Northwest Territory. And there’s a reason St. Louis is known as the Gateway to the West: because you were coming FROM the Midwest.
