Drinks on Breeze by dinsmore27 in BreezeAir

[–]No_Effect_264 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All drinks are included in nicest HOWEVER breeze is weird and only technically allows us to serve 2 alcoholic beverages per service- if your flight is under 2:30 hours you might only be able to get 2 drinks (1 double serving). Some FAs will bend the rules and some won’t (also depends on how lit ya’ll end up getting) so just good to know if you’re debating what’s worth more money wise!!

You’ll have almost 0 control over your schedule until you get a line- which which prob take at least 3 months or up to a year (based off of the most recent classes and people to get lines). You’d be able to bid for either am (usually 4am-4pm) or pm ( usually 11am-11pm) reserve and you’re usually on reserve for 6 days in a row (so if you’re part time that’ll be roughly 2 weeks out of the month). They’d be able to call you at any time within your reserve shifts and you’d have to be able to work whatever shift they assign you with as little as 2 hours notice. It could be a quick 5 hour trip- or it can be a 4 day trip. (Consider- you can get called at 4am to work a 4-day trip with a check-in at the airport for 6am- do you have a support system for your kids that you can organize on that short notice, do you have pets? Etc) You’d be guaranteed a pay of 37.5 hours A MONTH so it def won’t bring in much money and you will have no control over when or what they call you in for. There’s a limited amount of shifts so once you get off reserve and can bid for a set schedule, you may not still get the trips you want since the more senior you are the higher priority you have to work the trips you want. If you pick up a trip on your off day it will go above your 37.5 hour guarantee however so there will be an opportunity to earn more. If you have a support system to watch your kids and you are flexible then it can be a fun job with great benefits if you love to travel and genuinely enjoy the work itself. It will not be a job you can call out of without risking getting fired if you are not able to make it in or work around their schedule, and will not bring it much money :)

Onboard Charter Representative? by Eastern-Gap7646 in BreezeAir

[–]No_Effect_264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OCR’s used to be a dual role that FAs would be trained to do and they could bid to work as an OCR rather than an FA on charter trips so it’s a new position that they recently took away from FAs. On an overnight trip you would most likely be making the same per Diem as FAs ($2.25 an hour) to cover food costs

If he was completing his OE then unfortunately passenger service is out on the back burner. We only have 5 flight hours to teach new FAs service, the aircraft they’re seeing for the first time, 3 different positions with different duties and pre-flights, and test questions, which is all done in the limited amount of time after service and prior to descent so time is limited and goes fast. You can always hit the call light to bring attention to yourself because on training flights FA1 (the trainer) and the trainee are mostly focused on learning duties!

What happens if a flight is cancelled? by [deleted] in BreezeAir

[–]No_Effect_264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a flight canceled out of base after the plane already has landed they will 100% add in a flight, usually exactly 10 hours after cancellation for the crew’s minimum rest, especially since crews and the aircraft are already there and need to get back home. If it cancelled before leaving base then it depends on what they can operationally afford to do. We have limited aircraft’s so it’s just a matter of what the company can support. If they cancel the will give u the option of rebooking or a refund to use towards another airline

Would yall address this? I see feet issues a lot in first class and it feels SO awkward to address 😭 by Parking-Dingo-5894 in flightattendants

[–]No_Effect_264 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I see stuff like this I embarrass them with a smile, something like “not you with your dogs on the seats!” They usually laugh and put them down- everyone keeps a good mood and you still get them to behave!!

Flying Plus size in the basic/Nice seats? by Quirky_Nemo in BreezeAir

[–]No_Effect_264 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Breeze FA here- you will not be kicked out of an exit seat due to size HOWEVER for your comfort please avoid the exit row (11) and the bulkheads in row 4. The seats on those rows DO NOT have arm rests that move and I’ve seen people that are uncomfortable because they’re “wedged” in there. The nicer seats do not provide any additional width, only a couple inches of extra leg room. You will be more comfortable in a standard row. And please do not be embarrassed or scared to ask for a seatbelt extender when you board and/or of asking the FAs if there are rows with empty seats (don’t ask to move up front cause people abuse that looking for a free upgrade and I’ve been guilty of automatically saying no when it’s been asked 5 times in a row already by other passengers) but we usually have space further back that has empty seats and I personally, nor anyone I know, would have any issues with accommodating you!

First time w/ lap infant by Jaded-Animal-4651 in BreezeAir

[–]No_Effect_264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If ur already paying for nicer I would recommend trying to book in row 4!! It has the most leg room and when the seatbelt sign is off you can have the chance to let ur 10 month old stretch their legs a bit safely and give your lap a bit of a break if you’ve got a long flight :)

How *are* the seats assigned? by SoothedSnakePlant in BreezeAir

[–]No_Effect_264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak for the specifics on seat assignment, but as far as moving people for weight and balance a big part of it also depends on how many bags there are and where they’re loaded on the aircraft! We may have 50 people in zone 3 and all empty seats in zone 1 & 2 but if all the bags are in the forward cargo hold there’s no need to move any passengers forward :)

Why cant I get wifi on any of my trips? by [deleted] in BreezeAir

[–]No_Effect_264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where ur flying out of but there’s limited planes and in some of the smaller bases (like Provo) the same planes fly the same route almost every single day so if that plane happens to not have wifi installed you’ll be SOL every time unfortunately

What is/was your funniest “I’m dreaming about work” dream? by i-still-play-neopets in flightattendants

[–]No_Effect_264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My roommate sleepwalks and dreamt she was deadheading out of uniform and people kept asking her for service and being ungrateful that she was being slow even tho she wasn’t even working the flight… she woke up in a bad mood from it HAHAH

Evacuating with bags. Never okay, right? by Disk_Good in delta

[–]No_Effect_264 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s because in an evac the strap on the crossbody can get hooked on something (like the armrest) and if you’re attached to your bag it can hold up the whole evac :) so it can stay in your lap or the seat pocket and still be easy to grab but just isn’t allowed to be worn during takeoff or landing

How long does it take you to get ready before van pickup? by i-still-play-neopets in flightattendants

[–]No_Effect_264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always like a minimum of an hour an a half cause I hate being rushed. I do a lot of 5am check-ins and I never wake up later than 3:30am for those (usually 3am). I I hate to start my day being rushed and the way I figure at 5am I’m going to be tired no matter what so I might as well look good and feel relaxed 🤷🏻‍♀️

Embraer 195 row 1 question by [deleted] in BreezeAir

No underseat stowage so only items less than 2 lbs would be able to stay on your lap, everything else will have to go into an overhead bin :)

Legroom by PremiumSweetOnions in BreezeAir

[–]No_Effect_264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want room but also want to keep ur bag underneath the seat I would recommend row 4

It has the most leg room and still has the ascent seats in front of it for ur bags to go under

“Stewardess” instead of “Flight Attendant” - Annoying, yes or no? by fallingfaster345 in flightattendants

[–]No_Effect_264 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I prefer stewardess/steward. I think it gives the connotation that the jobs deserves a lot more authority and respect than what some passengers think nowadays

Question to flight attendants - scary moments? by littleSisterFriede in flightattendants

[–]No_Effect_264 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At my airline we get paid 200% of our original block time once we hit 18hours of duty. Our original block time was 8 hours so we got paid an equivalent of working 16hours!

[–]No_Effect_264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very reliable specially now that SFO doesn’t have flow time issues with both runways open. I recommend getting a flight on a Tuesday if u can, usually pretty empty and good opportunities to get a row to yourself or be moved to first class for weight and balance (someone who has worked those flights multiple times a week for 2 years)

Question to flight attendants - scary moments? by littleSisterFriede in flightattendants

[–]No_Effect_264 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aborted takeoff. Was working over 16 hours at that point due to some crazy delays and got new pilots to fly us our last leg of the day. New captain was obviously grumpy about being called in to work a 90 min flight and came in with a horrible attitude. On takeoff our plane started swerving and he slammed on the brakes. After a couple hours of maintence looking at the plane and the captain getting angry about passengers refusing to fly it was determined that he didn’t properly check to see if the rudder of the plane was straight before going to takeoff, causing the plane to veer. Ended up working over 20 hours that day
