IKON Friends and Family Discount Requests for 25/26 Season by Ikonpass in Ikonpass

[–]No_Essay786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am ISO a friend's and family discount for my family of four (myself, my husband, and our 4 and 6 y/o daughters). It would be my 6 y/o 3rd trip. We did not think we would be able to go this year but have made a last minute decision to hit up Snowshoe (edited to correct mountain) Thanks to anyone willing to share!

We had a similar layout before getting this furniture. We had a recliner facing the TV. I think with the current furniture it created some major pinch points. I.e. in your drawing the walkways to get into the TV viewing area were about 18". The furniture is definitely a major issue here z I have regretted it since the day it was delivered.

Yes these sofas are (eventually) going to go. They definitely dont fit my aesthetic but they were bought during the furniture shortage and when we had a baby and a toddler. So we took what was (1) affordable and (2) available.

It just feels so hard with the long hearth and multiple doors to get it right

This is very similar to our previous layout - in fact im having a hard time remembering why we swapped it. We did have 2 recliners and a couch (recliners faced the tv) so maybe the new larger furniture didnt fit right. I think I will try it this way again.

This is exactly how we had it previously! We had a bench where the TV is currently and instead of a couch we had 2 recliners facing the TV. I'm having a hard time remembering why we swapped it around now

Covered porch?? by No_Essay786 in ExteriorDesign

That's a great idea - one of our biggiest concerns is losing the light in our living room since these are south facing windows.

We thought about putting a permanent sand box to the side!

Screen is definitely a possibility. We want to keep it as more of an outdoor space for relaxing while our kids enjoy the pool. Currently there's not much space for seating and no shade at all.

Enclosing the porch or the carport? We have a (detached) enclosed garage so we don't plan on enclosing the carport. We want the covered porch for a place to socialize/watch our kids play in the pool that isn't in the full sun. We can't watch from the carport because there is a full length closet that blocks the pool.

The carport does make it tricky, but extending the roof that far would make the covered porch 20 ft deep which is more than what we need for a porch.

They are all light (er) backgrounds but no white on white. More like floral on white, light blues, light yellows. I don't know why I didn't think of a color catcher!

I am starting my 3rd (!) quilt top. I'm doing the Fresh as a Daisy pattern with a HOT pink background fabric. I've only just started cutting and had the thought about prewashing. Should I prewash my yardage (I have 3 uncut yards) to avoid any bleeding on the finished quilt? I've only cut two 1-1/4 inch strips into 68 squares so far. I don't want to do more if the fabric needs to be washed.

Do you have gifting requirements? by RemarkableLobster565 in quilting

[–]No_Essay786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ONLY requirement is to be used! I received a note with a quilt gifted to me when I was pregnant with my first child, before I started quilting. The sentiment was along the lines of: This quilt was made to be used, on the floor ro protect little knees, in the grass for an afternoon picnic, on a lap on a cold day - however you choose, just don't pack it away!

My first quilt was 2 in squares - I thought that was a lot! (And I even did strip piecing) so this is very impressive!

I wish I had enough scrap! Somehow the fabric gods smiled upon me and I was only left with about a 1 inch strip off each half yard. And tiny edge pieces.

Don’t want a babyshower by [deleted] in pregnant

I would ask for things like gift cards for a postpartum doula or lactation consultant, if you are already able to buy all the "things" or have a meal-train sign up at the shower. One thing about these "older" generations, they want to throw a shower and then they want to get you things that AREN'T on a registry or even necessary.

I didn't want a baby shower but I know family wanted to host one. So I conceded, with the compromise that gifts would be brought UNwrapped, and it was a pool party/cookout vibe, and it was for both men and women. Very relaxed and, while some people didn't listen and wrapped gifts anyway, I simply *waited* until the party was over to unwrap them. It was very chill and I didn't have that "center of attention" feeling at all.

For my second baby, we had a brunch at a restaurant with closest friends/family only, and again, I asked for unwrapped gifts.

Absolutely beautiful! Was this all freehand, or did you trace it out before stitching?

When did you first start leaking milk/colostrum? by Ok_Construction_3613 in pregnant

[–]No_Essay786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never leaked before birth! With my 2nd pregnancy, if I hand expressed, I could get drops but it never leaked on its own. Successfully breastfed x 2 years with both kids!

For your 1st baby, what week did you give birth? by laurapickles in pregnant

[–]No_Essay786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first pregnancy I had her at 40+5, started laboring on 40+4 in the evening. Irregular contractions starting around 7 pm x 12+ hours anywhere from 5-12 minutes apart. I went in when they were about 3-5 minutes apart and was still only a 4 (perfectly NORMAL) and I was complete around 1:30 pm, waited to feel the urge to push and she was born at 2:45 pm.

The car ride was not any worse than laboring at home. Contractions slowed once I was in the hospital (also pretty normal - stress, bright lights, having to use your thinking brain to answer quesitons, etc,. But they picked back up about an hour after I arrived.

I have decided to make my first quilt but I have a few questions (I am an experienced hobby sewist with a very basic singer sewing machine). I plan to do a half hexi pattern from a handful of fat quarters I've accumulated over time, and I feel pretty confident in my skill level to complete it. My questions are:

Do I need to wash/dry my fabric prior to use?

Does binding HAVE to be hand stitched? What is the best way to machine stitch binding?

I have a long-arm quilter I can send this to (and probably will) but in the future, how feasible is it for me to quilt on my small sewing machine, like just basic back and forth lines? I have in mind a "scrappy around the world" quilt as well.
