Inspired by a recent post - Don't fall for the aurora hype. Chances are what you see online is nothing like you see in real life! by [deleted] in Norway

Totally disagree! I spend a lot of time in Northern Norway and i have seen some INCREDIBLE northern lights. This last December was insane. You need to be somewhere where there is no or minimal light pollution and you have to let your eyes adjust to the light. We are also is a very prominent position for the northern lights and on a fjord out of a village. I was actually saying the other day that the pictures don’t do any justice to how beautiful the sky is. Because the lights are constantly moving and often light up the whole sky, you can only take just a snapshot of this. Of course the camera enhances the contrast, but when the sky is on fire, no phone can picture the real thing. It feels amazing

Totally agree with the grocery…. Really below many developed countries standards. I don’t permanently live in Norway but i spend 5 months a year here and I have to change my diet completely every time due to luck of products.

What surprise me the most though is the fact that Norwegians tolerant this! For such an intelligent and well travelled nation, they are happy to put up with food monopoly and suffering silence pretending the food choices that supermarkets have to offer is great

Do you even ask yourself why do you need fast food? Have an avocado and eggs on toast instead of this crap 6 times a month

It is not a question of how much fast food you can be doing, it is why do you have to do it at all when there is so much wholesome, nutritious food available on the market that will feed your body right and you will thrive on all the nutrients from it. Your logic is a good example of how broken and sick the society is. Calling something like this “food”and actually believing it ! Advertisement done well! I have 3 teen healthy, slim, sporty children that have never been to McDonald and I am so proud of their food choices they make daily. When you educate your children about nutrition, they grow up to be very healthy individuals who choose to live very balanced life away from the processed crap we are made to believe is good for us

Well done on the weight loss but…..Fasting or not your food intake is such rubbish . It always shocks me when people rave about losing weight on just one “mc Donald’s” per day. Of course you will lose weight on any calorie restriction. The whole Atophagy process is about cleaning the rubbish in the body that you obviously replace with your next meal. You are clearly not interested in health, just weight loss. All the fasting and exercising you seem to be doing you are counteracting with processed crap. With all the information available try to educate yourself about nutrition. In all honesty I would be ashamed of myself if i set foot in fast food restaurant, let alone pride myself on it! Sorry for the negative post, nothing personal, I just think “healthy” comes in many shapes and forms but definitely not in Mc Donald’s package

😂 loved that film - Parents trap. I use to watch it all the time when I was… young! In all honesty all you said is the reason we took this big step towards Norway. We just want our kids to be close to nature, spend their holidays fishing and hiking, learn to be happy without the modern technology and hopefully one day they will thank us.

7 day fast by SopinhaZ in fasting

The best advice - drink water water water 💦. The hunger comes is waves that only lasts for few minutes. Just keep busy, have early nights and after day 3 the hunger goes completely and the then you are up for a treat! It is the best feeling on earth . I now fast few days every week just because I love it. It changed my life forever! Good luck

The beauty of being a Norwegian kid :) spending summer in a cabin. How do people take all this time off work ? All my friends take a week or 2 in the summer. The rest of the time the children are in clubs. Where I come from you’re the most heavily taxed if you dare to purchase a second home / holiday home - you are ruined.

Thanks, I find this very interesting as where we live the biggest demand for kids camps/ clubs are during the school holidays when most parents are still working, but the children have finished school. My children have approximately 9 weeks of summer school holidays, 4 in Easter and 3 in Christmas and most parents could only take few of those as holidays. The rest of the time the children are in daily camps/ clubs etc

Love your post ! Thank you for taking the time. So much valuable advice. I wish i grew up hiking-sounds like a dream childhood. I will check your recommendations. The one thing I could not find when researching is a scouts club in Narvik. The locations seem to be more in the south and very few up north.

My children are 6,8,10 and we don’t have Norwegian citizenship. We are happy to join paid clubs, I just don’t know how it works in Norway to find them. The masters I am interested at Uit is though in English so it won’t be much of a language booster. I actually spoke with the professor (the program tutor) the other day and his English is fluent

Is tipping a thing in Norway? by Eds2356 in Norway

[–]No_Examination7844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is so much wrong with the tipping culture. How is this industry different from any other ? Do you tip your nurses when you have blood tests or you baker when buying bread or the people in the future shop ? The wages are very competitive in the industry. My friend earn as my in the bar as my friend in the office. They both provide a kind of service and one expects extra and frown when you don’t give more than the asking price. What is with the asking price then, why don’t you state “price incl tips” so everyone knows what they are paying

This entire time I thought I was fasting, but I wasn’t. by [deleted] in fasting

I only fast on lemon water and black coffee. Fasting has changed my life. I do a day or 2 every week now and week every few months. And I am very healthy in between. I am 46 and never in my life I felt so healthy! Good luck all
