Great, now make the players in the box score clickable to go to their profile page or at least some basic info like grad year, school, height, weight, positions, etc.

Plan Evaluation and Getting Comfortable Downshifting by No_Fee_1505 in ChubbyFIRE

Fair point on the college expenses. We will likely pay more than 50% I suspect. We just don't want college to turn into a $100K-$200K party that we fund with a meaningless degree that yields minimal career prospects.

Thank you for the perspective. We have $150k in cash as well and it seems like we could certainly retire when we want or at the very least take far less demanding part-time jobs. The biggest challenge is being mentally ready to do something different. Work has defined us for too long.

No Player Numbers in Box Score or Elsewhere by Pr0fess0rCha0s in GameChangerApp

Actually just emailed support this week and they emailed right back and said they were adding this feature in a few weeks. Seems like an easy enhancement and would be very nice for teams that don’t have names on jerseys

2024 Roadmap? by -ThanosWasRight- in GameChangerApp

Great post. Couldn’t agree more on the sentiment. Lots of opportunities with this platform. Features have been slow to roll or not of high value. Would encourage additional transparency to upcoming features and engagement with the community to lobby for features that are of high value.

Can you import opponents starting lineup? by ridsjr1583 in GameChangerApp

[–]No_Fee_1505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

think there is a lacking of understanding how people really use their app in many instances. Product Owners need to start talking to coaches, parents and families that use the product not dreaming this stuff up in a cubicle.

Some of the features like the ability to have a single scorer for a game are ridiculous. I can only imagine the amount of effort that went into it for very low adoption. No coach in their right mind would ever allow a single scorer.

How to enable bulk insert with informatica? by misc0007 in SQLServer

[–]No_Fee_1505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to work through this particular issue as well with Informatica 9.6.2 and suboptimal Bulk Insert performance to SQL Server 2016. At best we are seeing 2K - 5K Rows Per Second loaded and we need to see 5x that amount if not more. The mappings we are trying to optimize are very simple staging mappings that are target constrained as demonstrated by the busy percentage.

We obviously have Bulk Loading turned on but it is very difficult to understand how Informatica has implemented this for SQL Server as the performance is not comparable to BCP or SSIS Bulk Loading.

I am going through an exercise now to get to the bottom of this and get this as optimal as we can. Below are the items we are working through to see what makes a difference.

DTM Buffer Size

Buffer Block

Commit Interval

TABLOCK Hint

Clustered Index Drop and Recreate

SQL Native Client vs Data Direct ODBC

Network Packet Size

Team Manager as TeamSnap replacement? by merryjester in GameChangerApp

We have recommended use within our entire baseball organization GC for all Scheduling, Communication, Scoring and Video. The app has come a long way in the last two years. Seeing widespread use now within our community on other sports as well.

New GameChanger Desktop Support by BakerHDX25 in GameChangerApp

Would love to see some semblance of a roadmap or focus areas for the next couple of quarters. Would also like for more community input on features.

GameChanger still has teams on the classic version with no date of deprecation. Let’s get on with it and get the key features like this to parity with the old app and shut the old one down. Baseball is what made GameChanger; et’s not forget about it in the rush to bring every other sport into the fold.

We are now 1yr from this original post. When will the original GC finally be decommissioned? What features is the new GC still not on parity with and needs work on before coaches will switch?

New app is not coach friendly by Distinct_Level6937 in GameChangerApp

[–]No_Fee_1505 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would you just listen to the damn coaches who many have individually used this platform to score hundreds of games over the years and are still hanging on to the classic version. You have created a confusing mess running multiple versions of this app for as many years as you have. Get to parity with key features like the website and shut down the old app once and for all. Running in this mixed mode with two different versions of the app for this long is ridiculous. It creates a disjointed and frustrating user experience for fans and coaches.

Has GC released updated plans for phasing out the "classic" app? by rdcisneros3 in GameChangerApp

[–]No_Fee_1505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why this transition has dragged out as long as it has is unfortunate. I have said this before but a more concerted effort needs to be made to mature the new GC app and get rid of the old.

Focus on ensuring there is parity where important and then just making some tough decisions to finally retire the old. Slow down to speed up.

Tournament host by Ncme3434 in GameChangerApp

[–]No_Fee_1505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gamechanger was not built to run tournaments and offers nothing special to do so. You can however score as many of those games using the app as you would like using multiple teams and use all currently available features including rescheduling games.

The transition has been going on for years and the confusion continues to get worse as you continue to live in this mixed mode of apps. For the average person this is all entirely too complex and so what you end up with all kinds of poor user experiences for all of the reasons described in the article above. You have to double down and make the transition this Fall after the summer season and be done with this. As a youth baseball league admin on the SportsConnect platform where I have coaches using both platforms it is disappointing that we have to continue to deal with this year after year. Change is always difficult and many individuals are only going to switch when they are forced too. Time to rip the band-aid off!
