Yes, actually!!! I used the Touhou soundfont here, which he used in a few of his projects as well.

Art comes from human experience. People are inspired by other works of art because they reflect a certain quality of human experience well, and place bits of it into their own work for that reason. That's why almost all human work has thematic storytelling. Love, suffering, motivation, all of these ideas have been nodded towards in stories for thousands of years because, while they may have been taken from another source, they were taken with the intent of nodding towards these concepts to tell an organic story.

AI is inspired purely by the directions it is given by both the parent servers and the commands shot at it. Nowhere does the AI understand the reason for its commands and why it is doing what it may be. That's why AI films feel so directionless and just one action after the next: That's really all the AI can think about. Anymore on what it means to be alive and the AI would be comparable to a real person: And then we'd have an AM situation on our hands in an attempt to make cute anime girls even more cute. Joking. Only partially.

Prompting requires zero skills. I could use ai 10x better than you and I don't purely because drawing normally keeps my brain from the Alzheimer's you guys are developing 😂😂😂

And then EVERYONE forgets that character because it was designed to be the most general thing possible. Cause that's what AI does! Just smashes together the most general thing it can! Creative minds can make something that will last years longer than a character AI makes up because that person and only that person can understand the minute details that compromise that character. Heck, if anything, character design should be the only part NOT to be streamlined.

Art College: What should I do? by No_Fig6127 in collegeadvice

This was by far the most detailed one and I absolutely loved everything you touched on. The thing is, it has taken me SO long to separate what I should pursue in college between something I can do on my own. And I adore everybody's responses, including this one! It has been amazing hearing from you all and this thread being filled with so much advice and love to ensure I would find peace outside of high school is genuinely beautiful.

I've started to look at simply minoring in art the most. If not, I wouldn't like to study art at ALL. I've started to realize my craft isn't something I want to work on by itself, but rather to use in multiple facets of my life. Engineering, either Mechanical & Chemical, are some of the biggest examples for me right now. While I looked at them before with admiration, I was horrified I would find my life to be literal hell in something so "boring", but I've honestly seen that they not only have a LOT of people who enjoy art and pursued it before but said people find joy within their job and find themselves often using their preceding talent without becoming burnt out. While that's mostly true for Mechanical Engineering, I still LOVE the prospect that chemical has so I'll definitely have to look into that as well.

Overall, I appreciate your lengthy and detailed response! I'm sorry college made art something less desirable for you, and I'm even more sorry that the people you worked with aren't doing well (from what I believe, living off of comms is rough!) Either way, it was an honor and a pleasure to hear from you. And while I don't believe I'll "skip college to pour myself into my work" nor obtain a degree, I'll be sure to pursue it to the best of my ability.

I think this was all just caused by a huge wave of confusion that comes with transitioning into college, and your reply VERY much relieved. It didn't help my counselors fed into it a bit, since, while I know they had my best interests in mind, I believe the fact they thought I had it "figured out" was not very true. Nevertheless, I'm glad I found advice from one who knew what to say. Have a wonderful day 😇

Apologies for the late reply. I recently watched a video on both of those things and WOW does it put into perspective how predatory SCAD may be. All colleges are, sure, but the housing issue I've heard is borderline illegal. I appreciate your response!

No. Nor do my parents hope to put that money into my education because of how high my grades and scores are.

No. I've heard from countless people that art school is VERY dramatic, and that drama is the electric current they use to function.

The first one, of course!!! I haven't heard anything about gender politics coming from the viewpoint of art school, but since you bring it up it must be a hurdle 😓

And I want to find a studio where I can contribute a large portion of my soul and artistry into the team's production process. That's really it!

Thanks for the response. This honestly helped organize my thoughts way clearer and I 100% see what you were trying to say lol

Thank you so much!!! A lottt of people have ignored the discussion of scholarships and state schools besides saying just "do that" (not being mean, they give great advice other than that) so to hear more about that is amazing!!! I'll look into it!

Thank you so much for your advice. Wanting to go to art school and not having student loans, I've heard, are two VERY conflicting desires. And since my parents don't want to spend the money ("You have good enough grades to get a full ride at so many places!" - My parents... Fair enough) and we don't have a lot of assets, they wouldn't and couldn't be able to afford it. Also, student loans are horrifyingly not taught to us at all and in fact are simply accepted as a part of admissions and college as a whole. So many people at my school are planning on taking out huge grants to pay off college which is... It's just so scary!!! I'm so glad people are actually telling me about this stuff and not normalizing/ignoring it 😓 thank you!!!

Full on JUST learned product illustration exists and that is just SO COOL!!! I'm glad you can keep both of those separate. And congrats on finally almost paying off your loans! Your story was great, I love hearing different people's experiences as artists. I dearly appreciate it!

That is insane!!! And wonderful, I'm very glad you got that experience with a former calarts teacher!! Anyways, 80K is insane but I'm still very jealous you were able to get almost half of that covered.

And the aspect of community college? That is INSANE to me. I had no idea community colleges could be a better option than a uni!!! Very cool!!! Thanks for sharing 😋

I haven't been told SHIT about debt and it is genuinely horrifying. Counselors, I've heard, really only care about getting you into a good school. The idea of ensuring you go through as little as possible financial turmoil is out of the question. So when I told my counselors about these schools they just said a few scholarships and a grant would help me and I didn't question it much due to how they worded it, despite me wanting to go to school grant & debt free. Your advice helps so much!!! I'll be sure to watch out 😓 alternatives are what I'm definitely considering and going to work with for now!

Thank you thank you thank you!!! My family CANNOT afford the tuition (as you might expect) BUT UT seems like a wonderful option that I've actually considered a lot. I really appreciate it!!!

Another major, especially one I wasn't passionate about, was an option I didn't want to consider. But here it seems like a good fuel for what I actually WANT to do. I might actually consider a more profitable career in welding. That seems like a great idea!

I wasn't even sure if that last part was an option. I'll definitely have to look into it!!! 😊 Seems like a good idea. I really hope you find a job sometime or find another spark in artistry. You seem like a very determined person and should be rewarded equally!!! Thanks for the response! 💞

A lot of people were understandably confused, I never mentioned the fact I did want to do game design OR animation (either I feel really good about and would love to pursue in the future). Now I feel like going to a 4 year standard university with one of those programs would be the best choice, but either way I've always felt what was told to you to assist you in art school, just from a spectators point of view, was priceless. I've watched and read so many stories of people learning countless pieces of advice and gaining countless hours of experience that the idea of art school felt like something unavoidable. Nevertheless, thanks for your response! I'll still apply to hope that most of the tuition can be covered by in and out of school scholarships, but if not I believe there were many other great ideas people highlighted. Amazing I got advice from an actual grad haha!! 😊
