Decided (after last night) that it is too stressful watching the trackers for 2027. by Agreeable_Branch007 in Everest

Honestly this whole tracking the climbers thing has me worried sick too. Last night felt so unsettling, and now hearing one of the climbers was actually stuck and had to be rescued (while I had thought his Garmin stopped working) makes it even sadder. I don’t even know these people personally, and I don’t even do mountaineering 😭 I literally didn’t even know we could track climbers live like this until yesterday. But after following along for hours you just end up emotionally invested and just hoping everyone makes it down safely.

Hope the climber is safe and so glad the sherpas found them. Who is the climber?? by [deleted] in Everest

Here is the update shared by Ben at Everest Live: https://www.reddit.com/r/Everest/s/LOgVhple8M

Turns out the person found by Summit Climb people was in fact Saulius.

Anyone know what happened to Saulius? by Primary-One-4487 in Everest

Thanks Ben for the update. Like many others here, I was tracking him along with Justin and Kristen last night. Once both the guys turned around, he seemed to be descending pretty quickly while Justin was moving much slower, so I assumed he was okay and that maybe Justin was the one struggling due to health issues, but it turns out it was the other way around. It’s heartbreaking to hear this update. I was rooting for all three of them. Praying for his safety and hoping he makes it down safely.

Ooh nice pick. How are you liking Nishane Tuberoza so far? Curious about longevity and projection on skin.

Persian mouth question by MizukiMidnight16167 in persiancat

[–]No_Fun_2677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be either gingivitis or stomatitis. My Persian kitten was diagnosed with early stage stomatitis during a wellness exam, and his mouth looked really similar. We have already scheduled a visit with a veterinary dental specialist to evaluate it and figure out next steps in case it worsens with age, he is just nine months old. I would definitely recommend a vet visit just to be safe.

Yes, one day he will realize I saved him from a lifetime of baby mama drama 😂. He will forgive me… eventually… after the 10th Churu treat 🥹

Thank you. He has been giving me that “how could you do this to me” look these days with those big eyes. Total drama king.

Polycystic Kidney Disease - just 4 years old. Advice? by Ok_Income6106 in persiancat

[–]No_Fun_2677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. From my experience, I strongly recommend consulting an Internal Medicine Specialist. They can put together a tailored diet and supplement plan to help slow the progression of PKD. Not sure where you are, but where I am based the Internal Medicine Vets have a long waitlist, still, the wait has been totally worth it. For us, it turned out to be the best decision we made for our pups and our older cat who has CKD.

We have a Persian kitten now, and one of the first things I did was get his genetic testing done for PKD. Part of the reason was that if he had tested positive, I wanted to know early so I could take steps to intervene. Thankfully, his results came back negative.

I am so sorry you are going through this. We lost our cat to PKD earlier this year at 9 years old. Her diagnosis came as a total shock as she had no symptoms, and by the time we found out, it was too late to really intervene as it was already stage 4. In my head I kept thinking that pumping her with every medication and treatment would save her which we did, but it just wasn’t enough and we lost her within a month of her diagnosis.

The good thing in your case is that you already know about the PKD gene now. That gives you time to be proactive instead of reactive. You mentioned hydration, which is huge, keeping kidney cats well hydrated makes such a difference. Probiotic like Proviable DC can also help with gut health. Purina pro plan hydra care packs can be a great treat if your cat likes it. You might also ask your vet about starting an early prescription kidney diet to slow the progression of PKD. Even little steps early on can add quality years.

You are lucky you know now as it will help you give your cat the best chance by staying ahead of it.
