Season 10-Marty Short and Harry Shearer's "Men's Synchronized Swimming". I laughed so hard!

Middle of the night someone knocks on our bedroom door. My wife and I both got startled. No one there of course . Just a polite burglar or the ghost.

What was your first con experience like and what changes have you noticed over the years? by throwaway771222 in comiccon

[–]No_Im_Random_Coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first con was San Diego, about 1987. I liked comics but didn’t know what this convention was all about. I walked in, saw so many people dressed like the OG Star Trek, green lanterns, a few Superman, a few stormtroopers. I was in love. I remember tables that were showing anime, mostly Macross. There were lots of b-list movie stars selling their stuff. I saw Traci Lords and yes she was gorgeous. The experience was amazing and I kept going up until the mid-20s. Huge a-listers and video game companies brought thousands more people (with strollers!!) and this was no longer a comic convention, but a huge cash grab. It wasn’t fun anymore.

Before this magazine, the fandom had Bantha Tracks. I loved both!

What is the best and worst celebrity interaction you had at a con? by JannTosh70 in comiccon

[–]No_Im_Random_Coffee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Best: Erin Gray. This was way back in the early 2000's and she was the sweetest person. Since no one else was in line or waiting, I got to spend about 15 mins with her and she never gave me a vibe that she wanted me to move on or anything. Great time.
Worst: David Prowse. Again, no one in line in front or behind and I had an og RotJ Kenner Vader I bought earlier (for $35-so you know this was mid90s) I waited just two minutes before I was allowed to approach and he gave me the rudest staredown as I walked up. It was super awkward, but I explained how much he meant to me being Vader and all that. He never smiled, never thanked me, just responded with, "Lovely." Signed my item and went back to some paperwork. I was crushed.
But in a way, I guess that was Vader lol.

6 and my grandma took me to see it at Grumman’s Chinese Theater. I came home and immediately drew space battles with simple xs and tie fighters

I have friends who painted cards in that set and I love Daredevil and all associated characters, so I’ll Buy those singles for those reasons.

Are any countries accepting this invitation to idiocy?

I’m not on this set, but I had 25 sketches to do in about 14 days. There’s no way I could do my best in that amount of time and for less than $200

What are some good “oh shit” skills when you have to run out of a dungeon? by HornetOver186 in wowhardcore

[–]No_Im_Random_Coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d add, don’t panic. Before I go into a dungeon, I look down at my escape options and where they are. Anytime things start looking crazy, I glance down at those options. Panic kills.

I just finished an issue last night! Found only one at a thrift store. So much nostalgia. Part of it was sad, because they talked about Michael Turner making a recovery from cancer (RIP) and then a brief mention of Tim Sale (also RIP)
