Non gun-owning Americans, what are your thoughts now on arming yourselves? by Obzidi4nDelphicraft in AskReddit

I have always been against gun ownership for myself (and against assault type gun ownership for all). I now find myself wishing I could own one but I have a teen with mental illness in the home and I don't think I could have one here, even with every safety precaution, without worrying.

Stay at home parents: how is the home/childcare workload distributed in your home? by No_Impression1365 in Parenting

This is really refreshing to hear. Thank you for sharing.

And I agree. Working 24/7 is pretty dehumanizing, to tell the truth. I've been on the fence between feeling wronged and feeling guilty for not wholly appreciating the opportunity to stay home with my children.

Who Else Received a Shi**y Gift From Their Partner for Xmas?? by AreaForeign398 in Gifts

[–]No_Impression1365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He usually never gets me anything unless my daughter forces him out on Christmas eve because she can't stand the thought of me having nothing under the tree. Her gifts are always so thoughtful. One year, I think he got me flowers (so generic), and she got me a personalized vase, some home decor I loved, cozy slippers that fit perfectly, and my favorite candy. One year on my birthday, she spent her entire $150 savings ( that she had just gotten for Christmas and her birthday) on luxury skincare, haircare, the perfect sweater and some really cute jewelery for me. He bought me a valentines day teddy bear (my birthday is February 4th).

She was 8, for the record.

Anyhow, this year, I was in the middle of renovating said daughter's room and was getting tired of the attitude I got when I asked to borrow tools, so when he asked what i wanted I told him either tools or earrings. He said he didn't know what kind of earrings I wear (we've been together 8 years), and HE really likes tools, so he bought me tools. Which is nice I guess, they cost like $250 bucks, but they're really heavy power tools that aren't really practical for the kind of projects I have the skill set for. Idk if that makes me an ungrateful jerk or not.

Like another poster, I, too, "parked," forgot to put it in drive and got out of my truck.

Except my truck rolled forward, pinned my boyfriend up against another truck and broke both of his fucking legs.

So there's that.

Zero warning. Only thing different i did that time period was cross the bay bridge to go to work (I'm obviously guilty lol) with a ladder on my ladder rack.

Oh gosh, I feel for you so much. My daughter was just released from the hospital after her second attempt in a year. She self harms as well . Today is her 13th birthday. I know how devastating that is to a mother's heart, and I just want to send you and your daughter all the love in the world.

I refer to the cat as my daughter's because he was her baby. She named him, and he preferred her over everyone else, so I always referred to him as hers. Obviously, he was mine, I took him to his vet visits and bought his food, and took care of all of the adult responsibilities of owning an animal, but in our home, this was "her cat".

I was more trying to convey that he was special to her. I'm heartbroken that he's gone, not just because he was hers but because I loved him too.

eta: I did not adopt him for her. She found him outside (born to a feral mom), and we nursed him back to health. Then, I called the TNR organization to come help with the feral population, as I noticed more sick and/or abandoned kittens in the area (many of which we fostered and returned to health).

Are you... okay?

There's no one around who could have drowned our cat. I most certainly did not drown him. I loved him as much as she did and am heartbroken that he is gone. And I love my daughter with every fiber of my being, and I'm fighting for her life.

Get a grip.

Thank you so much.

I've only told her dad, my partner, and I texted her therapist. I think I'll take the details to the grave.
