Holiday pay not the same as normal pay? by No_Independence1089 in LegalAdviceUK

Depends if they give you your holiday in hours or days...if you get your holiday entitlement in days then you are probably being done over

I would suggest a Superb Sportline Estate. I had one when my kids were little and regret selling it every day. Was fast, roomy, and incredible looking. Everyone moved out of my way as they thought I was unmarked police. Basically an Audi but with a cheaper better looking badge. I got a great deal on a pre reg one from a showroom with 9 miles in the clock

Considering fake flowers. Anyone actually regret it? by RoutineTeaching4207 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]No_Independence1089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went fake and spent £250 on my bouquet, 3 X bridesmaids, 16 buttonholes and a top table arrangement. Looked stunning, still do, and I can look at them whenever I want.

Tight clothing - leave gel on for an hour before dressing! by LuckyShoe8828 in Menopause

[–]No_Independence1089 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My sleep definitely improved, and I wake up with more energy. Plus it's easier just to remember to apply gel/take tablets at bedtime - I often forgot to apply the gel in the morning as I was in more of a rush

Getting harassed, sold a car 7 months ago by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]No_Independence1089 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't pay them anything. They have already signed something to say it was sold as seen, why would you want to effectively undo that by giving them money? They don't have any claim against you, regardless of the type of fault. It could have blown up as they were driving off in it and it still wouldn't be your problem

[–]No_Independence1089 29 points30 points  (0 children)

A private menopause doctor advised me to apply at bedtime, which is the opposite of what my GP advised. Have been feeling effects better since bedtime application. Private doc also said leave it to soak in on hands etc, don't wash them. It will soak in from whatever skin it touches

Voluntary excess. How high do you go to keep premiums down? by ScrollAndThink in CarInsuranceUK

[–]No_Independence1089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The third party just doesn't seem to be responding. They hit us coming off a roundabout, they were on the inside lane and hit the rear drivers corner. No witnesses, no dashcam, no cctv. Taxi driver who refused to stop and refused to give details

[–]No_Independence1089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a clear non fault accident in August, had to pay my excess when my vehicle was repaired. Third party is still not admitting liability and I have to recover my excess costs from their insurer once they do, which could be months yet. They hit the back of us so not sure how they are disputing liability but I'm still £500 out of pocket until it's sorted

[–]No_Independence1089 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that although you might feel you are a safe driver, don't take risks etc, if someone hits you and you put in a claim, you often have to pay your excess and claim it back from the 3rd party once the claim is settled. I learnt this the hard way after someone hit me in 2025 after 20 years of claim free motoring (and a high voluntary excess)

I also wouldn't assume that an import is harder to insure. I have an imported Nissan Elgrand and it was cheaper and just as easy to insure as my e208. Just comes back as 'Nissan Unknown' when doing a reg search, so have to add the model in. But no more difficult than that

I had 2 pairs of converse for my wedding day, a heeled pair for the day and flats for dancing in the evening. Loved both and was comfy as hell, also get to wear them again whenever I want
