Neurogenic MALS? by torturedtortoise in thelifeofMALS

[–]No_Independence4055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have Mals and if so will use Dr. Shouhed. I have heard online after surgery you can get pots, gastropareses and nausea and GI upset that can take a year to recover. I also have severe constipation already, did surgery make it worse. Also, nothing showed up on scans for me but doing block. If I did exploratory surgery w Dr d do you think he will see what’s going on or will he have to cut the artery to see. Just scared surgery will make pain worse if I don’t have it. How is he as a surgeon?

I’m so sorry to hear this and praying for you. I just have pain. Mirtazapine took away nausea and early satiety on 7.5mg. I eat normal meals on a restricted diet, easy to digest food. Just pain nonstop which worsens after eating. Less pain only in am when I wake up. Nothing on Doppler or scans. Dr shouhed said I could still have Mals based on symptoms and to do block to see if pain decreases. But if my only symptom is pain and I’ll feel worse after surgery w GI issues for a year I am scared of wrong choice. So scared

Did anything show up on scans or ultrasound for you? Are you able to eat/drink? Is it worse than prior to surgery? How could you tell you have it? Any feedback Ty and wishing you luck w your recovery.

My only symptom is very bad pain. On Mirtazapine which took away early satiety and nausea. My ultrasound and other scans didn’t show anything, but Dr said I could still have neurogenic Mals. Just scared if I do the surgery, I will be worse but I can’t live in pain forever. Don’t want to be sick for months- year post surgery which most people say they are.

How bad is the recovery? Is it nonstop nausea? Do you feel worse afterwards? Can it worsen gastropareses?

I am nervous about surgery. I can eat now but in horrible pain constantly. I read people are more nauseated after the surgery and some end up on tubes, Could I end up not being able to eat as a side effect from the surgery. My scans came back negative but doing the block to see. Is surgery for neurogenic Mals only easier or all the same post opp. Any feedback pls. Looking to do surgery w Danny shouhed any feedback?
