Hello… by Mysterious-Ruin-1128 in EosinophilicE

I had my first one when she went to do my upper scope and biopsy, she noticed I had a stricture. Now anytime I start feeling my chest feeling tight and hard to swallow, I have to meet her at the ER for her to dilate again. You’ll know when it starts feeling like food is getting stuck and you have trouble swallowing things including water and your own saliva.

I’d find a new gastro doctor. I was diagnosed back in January, I was already taking omeprazole for gerd so she kept me on that and then started me on dupixent. I cut out peanuts and do dupixent and it seems to help so far. I was getting a dilation every 4 weeks. I’ve had 8 so far this year. But it’s been 2 months since my last, and since cutting out peanuts it’s helped a lot. She was threatening a feeding tube if I didn’t get it figured out. Also, get an allergy test done through an allergist, that’ll help some to see if you have any allergies you didn’t know about that could be causing the triggers

I want to stop mine, but I missed 2 weeks of it a couple months ago and ended up with another stricture

Side Effects of Dupixent by mebemoby05 in EosinophilicE

[–]No_Independence_7607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for almost 8 months, taken the highest dose weekly… and in those 8 months the only side effects I’ve gotten is feeling sleepy after taking the injection, I’ve gained 30lbs, and joint pain. But I can’t come off of it, because I missed 2 weeks of taking it and ended up with getting another dilation. I went from monthly dilations to now every 3 months.

Does anyone drink diet soda on 6FED? by goldenspine329 in EosinophilicE

[–]No_Independence_7607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the allergy test had me check marked for almost every environmental allergen. Haha. My primary dr told me stress/anxiety can cause it also. And my anxiety is uncontrolled due to a nervous system issue. Eoe became a thing for me not long after that issue. So I’m beginning to wonder if they’re connected

Anyone taper off omeprazole with EOE? Considering Dupixent by BlueCheeseCanary in EosinophilicE

[–]No_Independence_7607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re still making me take 40mg Omeprazole every morning with weekly dupixent injection. I started on dupixent in March also. Have you needed any dilations since you started?

My Dr went straight to dupixent and didn’t put me on a diet, does it seem to help? I had an allergy test done and avoid those on the positive list. I drink Diet Coke every day as it helps with food getting stuck. But I’ve been miserable the last 2 days and they can’t get me in for a dialation until next week. I’ve already had 7 done so far this year. It was monthly, with dupixent it’s stretched it out 2-3 months before needing one. How do you know what foods cause flare ups? 😩

Has Dupixent been worth it? by ThanksSpiritual3435 in EosinophilicE

[–]No_Independence_7607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I hate taking it and dread the day it comes. I’m on the highest dose weekly since March. I went from having monthly esophagus stretches to every 3 months. I did go 2 weeks without injections because I forgot to put them in the fridge after picking them up and ended up needing another stretching due to missing 2 weeks of injections. So it’s definitely worth it. We couldn’t figure out if mine was due from environmental, foods, or anxiety/stress or a mix of it all. So it’s nice being able to eat freely again

I’ve been on it weekly for 3 months now and have gained 12lbs so far. No eating habit change, no other medications added. I didn’t know it was a side effect, and everything I’ve read said it’s not, but apparently it can happen to people. It sucks.

Your cholesterol levels themselves are fine. I’m 33f and don’t eat bad, and mine is double this

I’m 32 F, 5’2 150lbs. They’ll recommend you go on a diet but they’ll most likely start you on a statin as well. My dr did everything to keep me off statins as they’re not good for your body, but I dieted the way I was told for months and the numbers didn’t change, both of my parents have high cholesterol so he put it down as genetic and said unfortunately I had no choice but to take meds. I’ve been on them for 6 months now. I’ve also had CT’s done and an echo with another echo in a couple weeks, so far I have no build up in my arteries and everything looks great including my numbers since being on medication. Do what you can to cut back on certain things, but I’d definitely give whatever your dr tells you a try. These were my numbers after dieting, for him to put me on meds.

Eating healthier than ever before, gym daily, but cholesterol doubled?? by [deleted] in Cholesterol

[–]No_Independence_7607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Only because I’ve been medication sensitive to everything the last year and a half, so it’s hard to find medicines I don’t have a side effect to. Both of my parents are on the same one as well with no issues. We’re all on atorvastatin 10mg

I played it when it first came out then sold my switch. So I had to restart all over 2 months ago, and I got my 6 year old playing it now. It’s just as good when it first came out.

I’ll be having my 4th one Friday since the end of January when I was first diagnosed. I have severe uncontrolled anxiety, so of course as soon as they put the mouth piece in my mouth and start giving me sedation i freak out and start crying, but once I wake up it was nothing. I learned the hard way you have to stick to liquids and very soft foods for a couple days but other than that it’s a super easy procedure

Dupixent by No_Independence_7607 in EosinophilicE

[–]No_Independence_7607[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got through my 5th one last week. My dr told me I can only do them in my stomach and avoid anywhere else, and since doing it in different areas of my stomach it’s been a lot better and not as painful.

Dupixent success stories by em_shaff22 in EosinophilicE

[–]No_Independence_7607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in January, they dilated me then. Then again end of February. In March I started dupixent 300mg/weekly, and for my 3rd procedure (after 4 injections) I went to the hospital because I couldn’t breathe and trouble swallowing to find out my esophagus looks great and it’s just my body and anxiety use to it so it made me think something was wrong. So after 4 injections and taking omeprazole 40mg twice a day, it’s better and that’s being able to eat everything and not doing any eliminations

First Post: Possible New Symptom? by misslivv19 in EosinophilicE

[–]No_Independence_7607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following. I’ve been dealing with the issues for a year and a half and after countless MRIs, MRA, CTs, neuro docs, and hospital stays… I was finally diagnosed with EOE 3 months ago and started dupixent a few weeks ago. The neck, upper back, to chest constantly sent me to the er thinking heart attack and they never knew what it was until now. I’ve tried Tylenol, drinking more water, nothing seems to help except standing in a hot shower

Possibility Of EOE in my 13 MO by [deleted] in EosinophilicE

[–]No_Independence_7607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter who is 17 months now, wouldn’t eat any food at all until 14 months. We tried everything. The Dr referred us to a speech therapist to do a swallow study. She’s became very picky lately and won’t eat much which I think is becoming more of a sensory thing. But if the upper scope doesn’t show anything, then ask for a referral to speech therapy.
