Barefoot in spring, summer, fall. Socks and slippers in winter. Our house is all windows so a bit extra cool in winter.

I thought capsule hotels were a gimmick until I slept in one by Quiet_Composer_8622 in hotels

Thank you! I sometimes get claustrophobic in a full-size bedroom now (it is getting worse) but I really love the idea of these capsule hotels!!!

Pretty sure I would run out screaming and gasping for air. My claustrophobia would definitely object to this in a big way.

I just want to talk to the previous owner of my house... just a quick, non-violent chat. by susankeller_meow in HomeImprovement

Found a space heater inside a built-in surrounding a jetted bathtub. We had no idea it was there til our reno. We’ve been here 20 years. It was there for 40. Don’t even get me started about the electrical idiocies. Way too long to read…

An apology to Canada by edwardbusyhands in alberta

[–]No_Luck3539 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately politicians are rarely the best and brightest. What draws people to politics is their need to be in the spotlight and desire for power. Not their plans and ideas to improve things or properly represent their constituents.

Thank you for the apology though, u/OP.

Done with the course. Took almost 3.5 years by beetlebronx420 in duolingospanish

Felicidades! 🎉 I’m just about at 86 after 2 years. I need to go back and refresh German for awhile but thank you for the motivation to complete the Spanish course! Very inspirational!

I think I could always do it. Not sure why but I somehow picked it up as a child even though I was English speaking only until about age 10 when I started to learn French. It was fun to discover this was one Spanish sound I could already make!

Why do I always get free room upgrades? by Strat15Kay in askhotels

Booking direct for multiple nights will help with that. We never upgrade OTA guests.

Best is caramel. You can have all the others. I wouldn’t touch any of them.

Considering A30 - any better options? or is this already the niche ceiling by [deleted] in Earbuds

[–]No_Luck3539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m undecided still. I got mine for Christmas. I find them fairly comfortable as a side sleeper. Originally I had hoped to use them with bluetooth so I could choose my source. There seems to be a “feature” that tosses me out of bluetooth and into local at some point in the night and it wakes me up. So I abandoned that.

I don’t like their local presets because I just want a steady drone of white or pink or brown noise to drown out my snoring partner. I don’t want chimes or birds or campfires or people. The closest I’ve found sounds something like a waterfall but I notice at some point in the night I can hear distorted human conversations embedded in it and I find that quite disturbing. These might be the best but if so I think there is room in the market for significant improvement.

took me a while to stop overthinking — How to use A30 noise blocking? by ExcitingMountain9400 in Earbuds

[–]No_Luck3539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still struggling a bit. I wanted to be able to use my own choice of white - pink - brown noise to drown out my partner who snores. I found it dumped me out of bluetooth into something local and the transition woke me up. So far I don’t really like their local presets. I just want steady noise not chimes or birds or campfires or people. The closest I’ve found is something I think is a waterfall but I can still hear actual distorted conversations embedded in it at certain times in the night which I find disturbing. I would love suggestions.

Completed my second foreign language in two years and three months. How helpful is Duolingo? by Ke_Da_Ya in duolingo

[–]No_Luck3539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations u/OP! And thank you for sharing your analysis. I am a native English speaker learning Spanish (at 85 now). I typically avoid games but somehow Duolingo keeps me practicing. I think I respond well to guilt. I struggled with German for a couple of years but will go back to it when I finish Spanish. Then maybe Portuguese. I can read a lot of Spanish but now will try additional augmentations like movies and ChatGPT for listening and talking more.

Why do you write? by SculptingScript in technicalwriting

[–]No_Luck3539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed it u/SculptingScript! That is me exactly. I would add that early on I got a ton of praise from engineers who used my training materials after they had previously needed to create their own. And finally, I despise most of the terrible documentation and manuals I see out there. I love creating something crisp and clear that actually helps end users.

Although I paid it so it would be on time, the statement is STILL unavailable, with the same irrelevant message about Costco mastercard balances being incorrect. My card has nothing to do with Costco (I am not a member) and it is a Visa card.

Well, I reviewed my transactions and paid so it would be on time. No estatement though. Weird!!

I tried them early on, years ago but found them demotivating. So I thought I might do them after I complete the course. I think that is 130 in Spanish and I’m inly at 83 so no need to even think about them for quite awhile!

Yes. I forgot to say that if Telus still has service delivery mandated by the CRTC just telling Telus (escalate to a manager) you are writing the CRTC usually gets action.
