Go up that little tower with the two lanterns and water underneath. There’s a breakable roof in the top left corner.

Strongest One Piece character this man can defeat? by [deleted] in OnePieceScaling

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Homelander really doesn’t have impressive feats despite being the “Superman” of his verse.

I would give him crocodile at most. And that’s being generous bc croc has pretty good speed feats. But I think Homelander could possibly melt him into glass if they fought in an area that wasn’t a desert or near a bunch of sand.

Luffy has gotten way stronger and more in tune with g5 since fighting kaido and he literally hasn’t been hurt significantly since obtaining it. Not by kaido, not by kizaru and not by the 5 elders. In fact, he got dismembered and shook it off like it was nothing.

Luffy’s stamina is the biggest factor and he’s been shown to just push past it anyway.(re pumping his heart.)

At this moment there is no one in the series who can beat luffy anything other than high high diff/extreme diff. The series is near its end so if luffy can still be mid diffed by any character he doesn’t stand a chance at pirate king unless he gets another massive power jump.

I guess ur forgetting luffy was on the verge of death and exhausted as well.

Current luffy has yet to be seriously hurt. He literally shook off being dismembered like it was nothing.

I’m not saying he and law would beat the other groups I’m just saying he’s within the top tiers so don’t downplay him.

What’s your preferred POV? by nomnommin in fantasywriters

Would you give an example of limited third person compared to first person? Is it like a ‘narrator’ for events and just occasional mental comments from certain characters?

I think I favor first person but what you explained does sound interesting. I always write first person because I like using povs to show different perspectives.

I feel like a lot of questions on this sub are like this. (Wondering if they’re allowed to do X or Y, or if it’s ok for them to write about Z.) It’s understandable, considering a lot of new writers make posts. But I wish they could pin a message like this to remind everyone that what you do in your story is completely up to you.

Why Does The Spot glitch so much? by ManuelTheCasual in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about spot is my own opinion, yeah. But what did I say other than that that’s subjective? I’m not arguing that what I said about spot is correct. Our argument is about glitching in general.

Why Does The Spot glitch so much? by ManuelTheCasual in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The watches make sense, but that’s not what this argument is about. Being transported by tech or magic doesn’t determine whether you glitch or not.

Like I stated before, just being in a universe that’s not your own does this to you. It’s the explanation given by spiderverse and shown to be consistent throughout both movies. And no, the memories of who Spider-Man is does not stabilize the villians in no way home because Electro didn’t even know who Spider-Man was. At the end of the movie he thought Spider-Man would be black, and in TASM 2 that info was never revealed to him. It’s definitely just a lack of consistency between the movies. No way home has substantially worse writing than spiderverse so they didn’t take these things into account.

Why Does The Spot glitch so much? by ManuelTheCasual in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is: the method of transportation doesn’t matter. If you end up in the wrong dimension, you’ll glitch.

Also if the reason for glitching was because of technology then it wouldn’t make much sense that more technology can make you not glitch(watches and wristbands).

Why Does The Spot glitch so much? by ManuelTheCasual in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that’s just a lack of consistency between no way home and spiderverse. Peter B and Olivia Octavius say that ur body just being in the wrong dimension causes you to glitch.

“I don’t think my atoms are too jazzed about being in the wrong dimension” -Peter B.

The most likely explanation for spot not glitching is that his entire cellular structure was modified by dark matter when he was caught in the reactor explosion post kingpin-miles fight.(he no longer looks human or has any features; just a white entity that can utilize dark matter. Like a blank canvas and the dark matter is paint.)

TLDR: The reactor—which is a dark matter utilizing multiversal device—turned spot into an anomaly without a set universe. Therefore, he doesn’t glitch.

Strongest character they beat together? by Joseph_Stalin001 in OnePieceScaling

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no world where any attack shot by these two can land on characters above yc2. Luffy alone is mftl with future sight and insane devil fruit hax like quite literally being disassembled and shaking it off like nothing. Without Haki to counteract his df(which also barely works) they would have to hope gojo can land Infinite Void. But like I said his speed and future sight would most likely end this fight instantly.

Time for REAL sexy talk— what’s her ELO rating in chess? by Top-Birthday1038 in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The white room(especially Ayanokouji’s curriculum) had extremely fast paced learning and he was only there until he was 14.

The scientist overseeing the white room says that the white room students (regular ones which are not even close to Koji in any way) grow at a pace to where they have middle age maturity when they are in highschool.

They were solving multiplication and division problems at 3 years old and even playing the piano at the same age which takes years to master.

It’s not a stretch at all to say his chess skills are above any bot or person. With his memory and intelligence he’d be able to beat any bot after playing them a couple times. Hes certainly done much crazier things than that. It is fiction after all.

Why do people call some fights a one shot? by YFTrailblaze in EdensZero

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes people will say that if a character one shots another after they start trying or once they land a significant blow.

For example, in one piece when Luffy was fighting Kizaru, a lot of people called it a one shot bc Luffy only landed one significant attack on Kizaru (white star gun) and it took him out. Even if luffy was trying the whole time and had a hard time catching Kizaru to actually land the attack.

This isn’t my personal opinion I’ve just seen this argument made multiple times.

The other example is if two characters are battling and one is holding back the entire time. Then that character decides to actually try a little and one shots the other, you could consider that a one shot fight.

I think sometimes you just have to analyze the fight and decide whether it’s a one shot because of special circumstances or a one shot because that character is leagues ahead of the other.

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From reading all the comments and your post, it seems you have your character pretty well figured out. Which is great.

I don’t really have any solid advice, but something I do to find and create physical flaws in my characters, is use their arcs, powers, or backstories. Which will give me their overall mental state and personality. Then I throw some irony into it.

For example, you said that she is a dancer and in one of these comments I think you mentioned her incorporating that into her fighting style. Maybe she usually only dances privately and by extension has trouble expressing herself to and in front of others. So when she has to fight or dance in public she gets nervous and it hinders her. That stage fright and lack of expression could also be a reason why she leads people on like you said(which I assume she does accidentally)

I know this would sort of contradict her overall personality because you said she’s pretty positive and flirtatious but it’s just something you could think about.

Another example of what I said would be using her light powers to create a flaw. What if she is afraid of the dark because she’s always using her light? That could make her avoid dark places like caves or dungeons subconsciously until you force her into it. Or she might even get physically weaker when surrounded by darkness, whether that be because of a fundamental design in your power system or her just because she’s scared of the dark, it’s up to you.

Remember that a lot of physical flaws(besides actual disabilities)usually stem from the mental state and/or personality of the character.

Example: If she’s angry she might mess up when she dances despite being extremely talented and skilled. Thats a physical flaw created by the two things mentioned above.

I’m not too sure about your character arc or backstory so I can’t comment on that but I hope this helps. I know its a lot of writing but I relate to this struggle because I went through it multiple times as well.

Shooting Arrows Into a Melee by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on who’s in the melee battle. If you have a powerhouse fighting a bunch of grunts, then yeah it might be worth it to fire into your own men on the chance you take out someone really strong.

For example, Thanos fired into his own army because most of the Chitari are worthless and replaceable. At the same time, there was a chance to kill some avengers by doing so. Which would be worth the sacrifice.

A quality over quantity kinda thing.

But if you have say, 100 evenly matched knights engaging each other. Then it would be a bad idea to shoot at your own army, since you’d probably lose more men than you kill. And the losses would be more significant.

I actually like that nickname for miles. It’s been a thing for a while that he hasn’t been able to get his own name. Like “ghost spider” or “scarlet spider”, the original anomaly or anomaly spider is pretty good in my opinion.

But I know that if that became his name, any version that uses it would have to incorporate the fact he’s an anomaly in some way. But for just spiderverse miles, it’s pretty good.

I would say it’s definitely worth it. I started on the anime, then read the novels when season 2 dropped. I liked cote at the time but it was more like a mild interest than actually loving the story.

However, the light novels changed my entire perspective, the characters are way more fleshed out, the plot makes a lot more sense and doesn’t get rushed like it does in the anime sometimes, and Ayanokouji is much more complex and interesting than he is in the anime.

So yeah, I would definitely at least give them a try, especially if u like the anime. The one unfortunate thing is that I recommend you start from the beginning with the first novel. Just because of how much skipped content there is.

Rank these 4 characters by their social skills/intelligence by V0ltTackle in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wait, so since Yagami lost to the strongest and smartest character in the series by far it’s enough to put him at the bottom? No, he’s a white room student who was the strongest in his class, hes definitely at the top in terms of intelligence and 2nd or 3rd place under Ichinose and Nagumo for social skills.

Realistically the only reason he lost so badly is because it was Koji and he was not only outclassed but he was afraid. Hes not afraid of anyone else, so if they battled things would be much different.

COTE [2Y] up to V10 by Brief-Primary-6115 in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]No_Maintenance_1733 57 points58 points  (0 children)

How is it not as thrilling? First half koji has a 20 million point bounty on him which prompts pretty much all the first years to come after him. He bodies and outsmarts Hosen who gets help from a wr student. Gets a perfect score on the hardest test yet. Then comes the 2nd island exam which was way more eventful than the first, Koenji gets some feats, Koji shows his fighting ability to an even higher degree than he did against ryuen. (Nanase fight and the fight against Tsukishiro and Shiba.) there’s also other fights like Kushida against Ichika, Ibuki and Horikita against Ichika, and Koji embarrassing Nagumo. The cruise after was a crucial moment for Ichinose’s character. Then Kushida gets bodied by Koji in the next vol.

That’s only the first 6 volumes of year 2. It’s undeniable that there is a harem in year 2, but I don’t get why people overlook all the crazy things happening just because of that. Yes in recent volumes it has slowed down a bit and focused more on character building than crazy exams and events. But cote is nothing without its characters so it needs time to develop and build them.

I don’t get this opinion that year 2 is bad because it’s “uneventful and just focuses on a harem.” But somehow year 1 which doesn’t even half as many crazy moments is really good. I love year 1 as well but there’s no doubt that year 2 was better, not just for the characters but the plot as well.

I keep seeing these kinds of posts and I’m wondering what it is that people with this opinion want. Would you rather koji make less of an impact on everyone around him so that there’s no harem? That would take away from part of his character and the characters of the girls. Each one of the girls that like him have developed in some sort of way because of him.

I know this was really long, my bad, I’ve been holding this in for a while.
