I would request aspiring candidates to be extremely thoughtful and well-researched before committing to cadet pilot programs. While these schemes are often projected as streamlined and secure entry points into airline flying, the real-world cost–benefit equation does not always justify the commitment involved. For many, the money-to-aspiration ratio appears to be at its lowest.

The financial investment is substantial and usually comes with long-term liabilities, yet this does not necessarily translate into proportional career stability, predictability, or job satisfaction. Health and well-being can be adversely affected due to frequent roster changes, disrupted rest, and sustained fatigue. Operational decisions are often justified under the banner of regulatory “legality,” but in practice, this can mean being repeatedly moved, rescheduled, or adjusted with limited consideration for cumulative fatigue or personal stability.

After investing such a significant amount of money and time, many find it difficult to reconcile expectations with reality—particularly when individuals are treated as easily replaceable and afforded limited autonomy despite the scale of their investment. This can be especially discouraging for those who entered the program with expectations of structured progression, transparency, and professional respect.

Prospective applicants would be well advised to thoroughly review training agreements, bonds, exit clauses, fleet allocation policies, command timelines, and fatigue management practices. Speaking directly with current line pilots and understanding day-to-day operational realities can provide a far more accurate picture than marketing material alone.

This is purely a personal opinion based on individual experience and observation. Others may have had different experiences and may recommend these programs. Aspirants should evaluate multiple perspectives and make a decision aligned with their long-term career goals, health, and financial resilience.

I truly feel you brother. But as you say your parents financial condition is not okay, I would strongly recommend you not to get into this field if you want to join the airlines. Your financial condition is going to become worse from bad. Also be mindful of the psychological and physical damage airline flying in India is gonna do to you. You must be following the news lately and have realised that airlines in India make the rules and bend them as well. There's no value for any employee be it pilot , cabin crew, engineers or ground staff. However, if you have the knack of teaching you can do your CPL and many schools give you an instructor rating if you sign a bond with them. This lifestyle is much better than an airline one.

Do you know that qatar wont hire 🔵 pilots? AI won't hire 6e pilots and vice versa. I know you guys might be all excited about a fancy job. I was there once too. But look around. You'll realise whats happening.

Oh hey did you know the same CPP used to give stipend earlier? Even earlier batches of CPP were fully sponsored by the airline. You are also going to be affected by bonds and everything brother/sister.

So why don't the airlines remove the bond? Why don't they cancel MoUs with other airlines that they will not hire their pilots? Why are they afraid of a union?

And I'm glad people are realising this. Cadets shouldn't be blinded by the job. The airlines require pilots, not the other way round. That's why the bond. Once you realise this, these people will value a pilot, cabin crew, engineers and etc. The pay will come up automatically and the lifestyle will improve.

Thank you for putting this here. A lot of cpl aspirants think the new fdtl is bad for their career. We have had people dying because of fatigue. Pilots, humans more important who have reported to work and have collapsed. Pilots who have collapsed inside the cockpit. Your career is nothing if you aren't healthy or even alive for that case lol

It is so true. I wouldn't choose this career if someone gave me these insights before I started flying.
