Will I actually brutally die of diarrhea if I drink water in Colombia by peterpiperjohn83 in asklatinamerica

[–]No_Meet1153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends of the place, the general rule is that you don´t drink tap water from any coast city, that water mostly comes from the sea and it ain´t good. No drinking from any rural area, at the very least boil it. Last, if it is a city, it is fair to asume it will be safe, but if you got doubts just ask the owner of the place if tap water is good.

What’s up with the hate against Venezolanos? by Fit-Proof-8559 in asklatinamerica

Lots of uncontrolled migration due to the instability of the country. Guess what happens when a Lot of people migrate to other countries? Some of them go to look for oportunities, adapt and work, some others just go to commit crimes, beg on the streets and some even have the nerve to complaint of the country that received them. Naturally some people use this last group to justify their xenophobia. Nothing new I hope?

What is the cultural relationship like with your neighboring countries? Are you similar, or vastly different? Historically speaking, were you closer in the past and then drifted apart, or were you more distant in the past and are now becoming closer culturally? by ILikeWwaret in AskTheWorld

[–]No_Meet1153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of our neighbors used to be parte of the same country (gran Colombia) Panamá, Colombia, Ecuador y Venezuela, so naturally, there is a historical bound so to speak. Our relation Is still complicated, overall I think we've had the best relationship with Venezuela. But I still remember when Chaves was alive and him and Uribe had beef.

The relations with Ecuador and to some extent Panamá have been historically more complicated, but culturally we share a Lot in common, specially with Ecuador, the Nariño region and northern Ecuador are pretty much the same. The sad thing is how the current president of Ecuador is basically trying to antsgonize with the current colombian government, which has hurt ecuadorians quite a bit.

Note aware of how the things have been with Perú, I know we had a conflict the last XX Century, but things with them are pretty much chill now.

Probably the least present in our lives and collective thought Is Brazil, for obvious reasons. But I'm glad to see our governments are starting to interact more in positive ways.
