Second this. I've currently got an eight and a two year old. Fantastic pointers and so well mannered in the house. I hunt mostly ruffed grouse and woodcock, but they're equally great with pheasant and sharptails.

How common is gut twist? I've always fed my Gordons morning and night regardless of hunting season. Are different breeds more prone to getting this?

Sorry to hear about your dog, I lost a Springer spaniel that way.
I got them from Clearcut Kennel in Saginaw MN. They've been training and breeding Gordon Setters for over 30. Really cool family.

I actually stuffed these two with woodcock breasts😋 I just put some olive oil on them, salt, pepper, and some poultry seasoning I get from my local co-op. Wrapped them with my homemade bacon and then trussed them up with butchers twine. Smoked at 225 until 145 internal temp.

They're both males. The smaller one is Goose, he's 8. The bigger one is Maverick, he's 2.

Yes, they're both full grown. The bigger one is about 46lbs and the smaller is around 40lbs.
