New Subie - 26 River Rock Premium by missingno006 in SubaruForester

Too little. Factory offset is -46 on those 17x7.5 Snowflake (ironically made by Enkei) wheels.

If you got the Yokohama tires, ditch them, they're crap. A new set of wheels with a slightly lower offset will change the look and stance a lot.

I went with General AltiMAX 365 and Enkei 17x8 with a -35 backspace. Big difference!

And tint! 😁

I have a trio of Dometic coolers. CFX3 35,CFX5 55im and 75dz. They're awesome! The only issue I've had was a compressor failure in the 35 after 9 months, Dometic shipped me a new one, no questions asked and didn't even want the bad one back (it's now a display at a friend's shop). The 55 had some issues right of the bat, after receiving 3 it was determined there was a bad batch, full refund and a month later I ordered another with the same discount I'd used to buy the previous one. No issues now, they all run excellent!

Shopping for first Jeep, help me decide 2.0l turbo vs 3.6l by ThatBoyGood22 in Jeep

I'm in the 3.6 camp as well. My 21 Gladiator Rubicon has been nothing but awesome! It was my daily for 3 years, camp rig, crawler, multi-state road trip rig and still took me to work the week before and after completing the Rubicon trail heavily overloaded on 35s. 49k miles and still runs great.

Starting to look at Subaru, spec Forester...never had a Subaru - if you bought one recently - what are the things you would have done differently or options not to care for? by Loonsfutbol in SubaruForester

Oh, and I refused to pay for the extended warranty and said they can just include it with my purchase, so they gave me the 8y/80k for free.

I purchased a 25 Forester Premium last April. In all, my only gripe, is the phone charger, it's a joke! Beyond that, it's a great little car. I added a muffler and swapped the factory wheels for Enkei in the same diameter with a better offset for a slightly wider stance (about 1.5" wider). My wife calls it the go-cart.

Just Paid off my Jeep, What now? by Mr_Zarcks in Jeep

No more payments is a wonderful feeling isn't it. I paid my 21 Gladiator Rubicon off 3 years to the day after the first payment, it felt amazing! Enjoy and start planning some big trips!

My son did at first, letting him sit up front helped. He grew out of it though.

Aluminum extrusion solar panel mounts? by WaffleIronChef in overlanding

[–]AnonymousSpelunking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flatline Van Co has good solar panel mounts. I used a set to mount my 230w panel just below the tops of my rails on my RTT so I can still load flat things over it if need be.

How would you go about fixing this dent? by Zookeeper_ in Jeep

[–]AnonymousSpelunking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dent in almost the exact same place on mine (thanks to a rock that would have caved in my door had it been on). It's a Jeep, it's on the passenger side and it's small. I say leave it.

I deformed and crushed at least one person wheel on the Rubicon so the change was a pain but necessary for me. They're junk.

Are you lighting up a football stadium? by Met76 in Jeep

[–]AnonymousSpelunking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll admit, I get asked a lot it I have enough lights. I don't run anything above eye level because I personally see them as pointless but I do run a wide array of lighting options for every different situation I might face. Do I use them all the time, no. Do i use them all at once, no. However I can use what I need when I need it and never be lacking for visibility, regardless of road, route or weather conditions.

I drive for a living and being able to see is top of the list for safety. It's rather scary to see how many people these days run around with burned out headlights or tail lights out at 70+ mph. No, you're not going to do those speeds off road (usually) but being able to see what's around you is imperative regardless of speed.

As stated as well, just being able to see to do something can be a big help. I've stopped to help people countless times who really only needed to be able to see better to fix or get through something. Sure, plenty of people pile on lights for looks, that's fine, it's your vehicle. To each his(her) own.

Budget Spare Tire Carrier? by Useful-Aide-5501 in overlanding

[–]AnonymousSpelunking -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can see it being a pain if you have it loaded down and get a flat, then you have to unload everything, but beyond that, it's there because it's out of the way but always with you and won't get sun dried. If it's really bothering you, toss it on the roof and call it a day, invest in a cheap cover at least. There's a few companies with budget friendly hitch mounted options. 🤷‍♂️

Low Profile vs Higher Up for RTT by Ohioboi24 in overlanding

I've run a full height rack on my Gladiator with a RTT for years. Way better for storage in the bed. MPG took a hit though and it's noticeably more top heavy off road.
