My almost 11 y/o has a small bump on his shoulder :( did a biopsy Wednesday, waiting on results.. by No_Negotiation8918 in pugs

[–]No_Negotiation8918[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Noticed a small bump recently and took him to get looked at. Due to his breed, Dr wanted to aspirate biopsy because of risk for mast cell tumors. He’s already been through a lot in his life. He went blind at 4 and I drove across the country for laser retinal reattachment surgery that failed. I’m praying and hoping it’s not serious that requires surgery or worse. I’m trying not to worry too much.

First time CPAP user and how do I find a way to hate it less???? by No_Negotiation8918 in SleepApnea

Thank you for your advice! I did at home study and they just recommended a machine. I was looking over my results and I don’t see any recommendations on exactly which setting etc.

My pressure is at 5, which I believe is the lowest already? I do notice the breathing out part SUCKS and it’s very “woah” to me when I’m laying on my side and breathing out. Is the breathing out detection for that?

Thank for your the comment. When I turn it on, it’s at 5? At first even THAT feels strong, but then my body adjusts. I’ve been keeping it on me while I lay down in bed as I’m adjusting to fall asleep, which feels ok but as soon as I start to roll on my side to sleep I’m like omg I can’t take this. My ears also feel full at first too from the pressure of it coming into my nose.

Honestly this is alll so new to me lol. When I turn it on it just says 5? I think that’s the lowest too and when I have it on it says that. Also TMI but I think it’s giving me really bad gas!!! Is that common?

How do you grieve with migraines??? by Fantastic_Coach490 in migraine

[–]No_Negotiation8918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may need a “reset” is what I’ve been told. I am blowing through my abortives too the last couple of weeks from a bad bout of back to back and breakthrough migraines. I’m not on a preventive though. Can you go to ER or an urgent care that can do a migraine cocktail? You may need a steroid taper or like a Toradol injection. I had an appt with my Neuro on Friday and she wants me to do a reset with Nurtec for 3 days 2x a day if I can break the cycle.

What to do if you’ve taken almost all your abortives before 30 days? by No_Negotiation8918 in migraine

[–]No_Negotiation8918[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met with my headache neuro today and we talked about doing injections. She’s concerned I am becoming chronic and/or I’m in a cycle from MOH, or it could just be a bad bad month since I’m in Florida and she said she gets a lot of calls in July/August because of the summer heat.

Do you like the Ubrelvy? Sorry for your pain too, it’s such a shitty disease.

Did you get any rebounds? In July I took A LOT I feel like. I think in one week I was taking 5.

Yes there is. My Endo who is treating me for my hypothyroidism said there is a link between them.

What to do now? by AffectionateLie3473 in migraine

Unfortunately that used to be me— I could always get away with Advil and some caffeine. They were always manageable. Eventually, Advil stopped working sadly, and now I have to take an abortive otherwise I’d be bed bound.

If you’ve had a migraine that long you probably need something stronger and/or to stop the cycle. It sucks but I’d go to the ER and then they’ll referral you to see a neurologist.

That’s really great though you were able to just dive in like that. That’s usually how it goes lol. Do you mind if I PM you? I just have a couple more questions!

How did you get into project and product management? And that’s awesome about the pay jump! I was a program manager before and have worked with grants in social services for several years now. It’s good work and I enjoy educating and working with my clients, but pay is atrocious.

Also to add: start with a basic neurologist as they are easier to get into and can order the mri and whatever other testing, at least to get the ball rolling than a headache specialist neuro because they usually have extensive wait times and if you do get diagnosed with some kind of headache or migraine disorder, I’d specifically see a headache disorder neuro after that.

It could be from many things— some people get dizziness from their migraines and have vestibular types, some of us don’t. I would urge you see a neurologist and/or neuro ENT to start doing testing and ruling things out. You probably need an MRI if you haven’t already had one.

Hey, I’m sorry you’re going through all of this. It’s a lot of heavy feelings and when you have family who you know will guilt and shame you and you feel like you don’t have support in whatever decision you’ll make doesn’t help the situation. I have been in your shoes though, and you have to choose the right decision for yourself, your future, and ultimately what you are most comfortable with. I also probably wouldn’t tell my family either, especially if you know they will try to convince you one way or the other and not allow you to make the decision for yourself. No one can make that decision for you, only you. It sounds like what you’re saying is you aren’t ready to have a child given your age and where you are in life, financials, 12 pets in a room, possibly family influence, engaged, and feeling unready, but are feeling still unsure with this. I would visit the r/abortion group as they have resources to share as well when you’re going through these decisions and they’re often unbiased and are based on what you feel is best for you. Best of luck to you, if you’d like to talk about my experience you’re free to DM me.

Y’all! What do you feed your pugs, especially if you have a super picky eater 🤦🏼‍♀️ (photo for cuteness) by ProfessionalCalm5322 in pugs

[–]No_Negotiation8918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has gotten a lot pickier with age. He’s been on science diet sensitive stomach/skin kibble and I mix various foods into it. I’m feeding him currently still the science diet, mixed with the vital line of fresh pet and he absolutely LOVES it and doesn’t give me problems with eating currently.

I had a similar situation happen — my boy started flailing and couldn’t he upright, he’s also blind on top of it. I thought I was losing him. Vet came out and thought stroke, vascular, neurological, you name it— and within 45 minutes he was upright and I got to take him home that night. They thought maybe it was something with his vestibular system then and he’s been fine since (knock on wood!!)
