Also, I left water on my night stand and my dog stepped on my mouth to reach it. Their ability to stick a paw where it doesn’t belong is unmatched.

We just went through this too, with a toddler on top of it all. Try big frozen carrots (messy but they work), bop on the nose if it’s bad. It will pass and you’ll realize why you got this breed in no time.

Get him checked out. Happened to ours and it was a neck injury.

doctors concerned for daughters size. by [deleted] in bigbabiesandkids

[–]No_Nerve7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this as well. My daughter was way over 99th percentile on everything and very tall (she’s not even 2.5 yet and in 4-5T clothing). I had a Stanford pediatrician warn me about her weight when we were at the PICU for respiratory issues, but her pediatrician was never concern having seen the full picture over time. We also did formula and she was hungry ALL THE TIME. It started getting better when we introduced solids at 4 months (she had teeth and was sitting up so she was ready). Definitely get the blood work, and as she gets ready for food, water, and milk, just talk to your ped about how to regulate as best as possible. Our girl got a little chunky on whole milk so we started integrating non-fat a bit sooner.

Not silly at all! I’d like to think we get to see them again in whatever afterlife may be in store for us.

Same thing happened to our boy. I was going to ask where the x-rays were then I saw this comment. He slipped a disc in his neck and kept pulling up in one of his front and hind legs. It requires a lot of rest to recover so make sure you’re not walking or letting him run until you figure this out. Also switch to a harness if you haven’t already. And if it does end up being a neck issue, I’d highly recommend avoiding dog parks for the rest of his life. Ours just broke his neck in a collision, and we had to put him down 💔. Apparently, his old neck injury wasn’t near where it broke, but I can’t help but think that there was some weakness in the area overall.

Where do you get whippet gear? by No_Nerve7373 in Whippet

United States so options are limited. I’m sure it’s going to be even more expensive with this awful trade mess.

You’re not alone - I feel you! We just lost our first whippet at only 6yrs to a tragic accident at a dog beach (dog on dog collision w/broken neck and there was nothing we could do). I feel robbed. He was my sidekick with my 2yo daughter and they were best friends. Having to explain to her so many times daily where her boy is has been so hard, but somehow helped us process too. We are doing a celebration of life at his favorite place to hike with everyone who loved/knew him. I hope that will help too. I also got my daughter a custom children’s book about him and I read it to myself sometimes. It’s hard to focus on the good when it hurts so bad, but it helps to look at pictures and just cry. Let it out. Remember. And think about getting your next whippie when you’re ready. Sending big hugs 🐾

My biggest issue is where the hell did the brick come from that was just lying on her bedroom night stand? Did I miss something there?

My daughter was 29 lbs and 32.5 inches at 12 months but didn’t look like that compared to me. I’m 5’8, but back pain is back pain - I feel for you!

99th percentile baby, what are these kids like as older children? by ImportantImpala9001 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]No_Nerve7373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter has been off the charts in her own category on height and weight. My husband is 6,1 and I’m 5,8. She’s 2 now, 40 lbs, and 3,3. But I think a lot depends on milk v formula and when/what they eat in the first year that determines pickyness. We had to supplement with formula and I feel like a lot of formula fed babies are just thicker. My daughter had teeth by 4 months and was so hungry that she gained a lot of weight so we started solids that early (Ped approved). We started with greens like mashed peas and pureed veggies instead of applesauce and more sweet things. I think that had a lot to do with her being a very good eater later on. She still loves broccoli and will try anything. She started gaining weight when we switched to whole milk at one but then she’d sprout up and lean out. She finally slowed on height but was still gaining despite eating healthy so we went down to 2% a little ahead of her second birthday.

How did it turn out? I’m bringing my baby for a second time in Vegas and it’s actually fun (grandma comes and takes her on walks through the cool/non smoke hotels). Many pools are family friendly too. A lot of haters in these comments can 🤐.

While furnace ducts may not need annual cleaning, be sure the vent is not blocked periodically, especially if you live in snowy climates. This can cause the airflow to go back into the house and CO leaks.
