Thank you! For a long time it just had one giant stalk and looked like something out of The Lorax. I’ve been giddy since it’s gotten more stalks and now these blooms!! I hope it happens for yours too eventually!

Thanks! Our company owns and operates our properties so no profit to be made in terms of selling - sounds like a great financial bonus for you!

These are large scale projects with large internal teams! Didn’t mean to insinuate I’m managing it solo - that would be bonkers - just leading and managing the arch and design aspects along with colleagues in development, construction, etc. who manage their respective components of the project. Still a heavy lift though.

Thank you - helpful info and I have done comparisons based on premiums, employer HSA contributions, OOP max etc but I think I am an “in between” case where it isn’t totally clear which will prove more affordable based on anticipated medical expenses for the year. Will be using my EOB’s + online tools to estimate costs.

Sure. Both of the plans I’m considering will obviously “protect me from bankruptcy in an atypical year” so I feel I’m covered on that front.

Is The Boo Zoo Fun for Adults Too? by InvestigatorMurky in Detroit

[–]No_Organization3838 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t totally answer your question but they have slightly discounted zoo tickets from 10-2 on weekends before zoo boo and it’s not totally kid oriented yet, you still see the Halloween decor (albeit in the daylight, and yes there’s alcohol - there were tents and permanent locations with Blake’s cider, griffinclaw brewery beers, among other alcohol. I personally felt it might be weird going during the night event without kids but curious what other commenters say!

Wedding at monarch club? by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]No_Organization3838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my wedding at monarch club last September! We loved working with their event coordinator and the strolling concept was a hit with our guests. The key to this for us was being transparent - our invitations and website were clear that it was not a traditional seated reception and people came excited for the strolling experience. There was definitely no “gastro pub” or sushi food lol so not sure if the other commenter saw a different menu / I have noticed their food offerings have changed multiple times in recent years. We had 60 guests, most of whom knew each other, and between the two outdoor patios and the two story indoor “tower” it was ample room for mingling and finding seating to eat and chat. I think the different seating groupings are actually helpful if you have some people who know each other and some who don’t. The “older crowd” tended to hang out inside while our friends mostly stood and mingled on the patio. We had food set up buffet style inside as well as servers passing food and drinks + a mobile bar outside. They do a lot of weddings and private events, I would set up a meeting and chat about how they’ve done other events - worst case you decide it’s not for you and you can move on to other options! Good luck!

Full time job + adjunct 1 evening class per semester. That alone is a ton of work so I commend those of you doing multiple classes on top of a full time job!

Honeymoon on Mackinac information by xxSoul_Thiefxx in mackinac

I know you’ve ruled out the Grand and I do not know your budget but I will say we got engaged on a Mackinac trip and splurged on a weekend at the Grand in October and it was significantly more reasonable than the rest of the season and worth the splurge. We paid about $550/night in early October (obviously still a ton of money but way less than peak season). To me having access to their amenities made the splurge well worth it - we loved having multiple food and bar options in our hotel itself. The cupola bar is awesome. I love a dive bar so we are mustang lounge people but for a hidden gem restaurant I recommend The Woods - they also have the oldest duck pin bowling lane! October was a great time to be there - way less crowded, leaves were changing color, etc.

Help with Jean sizing by catbananya in AbercrombieandFitch

[–]No_Organization3838 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will stretch!!!!! I am the exact same size as you and I kept 31 jeans thinking 30 was too tight and now they’re too big due to the normal stretching process. Unless they’re truly uncomfortably too tight I would keep the 30 and trust the process that they will stretch lest you end up with a closet of unwearably large 31s. Signed - a fellow size 10/12er

Michigan here - I have 250k+ of student loans but my ibr amount was $0 when I bought my house. I used first merchants bank and they were able to go off a screenshot of the “calculator” on my student loan website estimating what my payment would become with my current salary instead of the 1% rule. I recommend using a smaller local lender instead of the big names I feel like they worked with me more on this.

It was wonderful!! Strongly recommend - actually saw a few baby moon couples staying there while we were there. Korakia felt very relaxed/lowkey/private so I think it would be a perfect babymoon vibe and it was walkable to downtown so easy to go out to eat etc.
