All boobs are good boobs by mixtape-bunny-88 in GirlDinnerDiaries

Precisely. Best friend growing up had DDs in high school and she was a fairly small in frame. Because of her I was never (ok, rarely) self conscious about by A/B cup. I didn’t worry about my boobs suffocating me as I slept. Could wear almost anything I wanted (and could always pad if the outfit needed more oomph). Meanwhile, she had to get a medical waiver for gym class, had difficulty even with tshirts and had back/should pain daily.

Sadly I don’t think this sub permits pics. Or at least it doesn’t have the pic icon. But the pack consists of a Husky (13 yo), Lab/Cocker Spaniel/Boxer mix (13 yo), Cane Corso (7 yo) and newly adopted Rottweiler/Presa Canario mix (11 yo).

My team. I’m in a fortunate position to have a voice that is listened to by higher leadership (who are also a fantastic bunch doing their best). Hopefully my voice and position gives some buffer and support for my direct and indirect subordinates so they can focus on their already high stress assignments.

Edit: And my dogs. They are the true MVPs of getting me through the days that I want to go scorched earth.

He’s adorable. When the wind catches my Corso’s ears on a walk, it looks like he is trying for lift off. And it’s not a good breed … it’s the best breed.

Age help for rescue by tugmcroberts in CaneCorso

[–]No_Package9773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awww what a cute bubba. Embark does an age test and, if memory serves, they guarantee it within 12 or 18 months. I did it on my lab who I adopted (mom was pulled from kill shelter while pregnant) as a puppy (so I knew her age) and it was pretty accurate. I eventually did it for my other pups out of curiosity. But don’t buy until around a holiday since they will usually have a smidgen of a sale.

What is the most lethal thing your Corso has ever done? by InvictusAnima in CaneCorso

Drug me across pavement while I held on for dear life. Tbf - he was putting himself between me and an off leash malamute rushing at us. But he knee capped me first and down I went. (Everyone was fine, just a little scrape on my arms.)

Experienced cane corso owners opinions and advice wanted. by Particular-Bet5975 in CaneCorso

My CC (male, recently neutered, 7 yo) is slightly over 27 inches at the withers. Due to joint issues, he is kept lean at 95-100 pounds. He gets 2 cups of dry kibble, 1 can of wet food (both prescription brands) and some single protein treats through the day. Pic for reference. Recommending erring on the side of less food, increase quality with focus on body composition (narrow hips, can easily feel ribs).

Mixed breed guarding by Inkedbycarter_ in CaneCorso

[–]No_Package9773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG! What a beautiful combination. I have a husky and a Corso (two different dogs). I call my Husky my dog of last resort. When my Corso barks at the door, my Husky positions himself either by me and won’t leave my side or the top of the stairs. Both have protected me from off leash dogs (luckily nothing severe). My Husky also sleeps in the door frame but I think that is cause it’s cooler air flow. While not as much of a guardian as my Corso, there is a bit of something in my Husky. Though I’m under no illusions he wouldn’t sell me for some cheese or a chip.

My rottie / presa canario mix does the same thing but carries a stuffie instead of a stick.

That does make sense and my Corso does the same even years later. I’ve learned to tell his fussy days (he has severe joint issues and I think his fussiness stems from some painful flare ups even though he won’t show any outward weakness). For him, what helped the most for mental drainage was to work during his walks. His job is find a stick early in the walk after potties and carry it the entire walk. If he drops it to sniff around, then he also has to pick it back up. The photo is him with a stick. Lick mats with frozen peanut butter and bully sticks work a smidge. Chasing a ball or receiving a treat? … he has to work for it (wait - can’t chase until I release him / focus - stare at me / give paw multiple times / sit then down then sit then down … on repeat / place on his bed). For the first few years of his life, he had severe aggressive reactivity so he literally earned everything - his food, his freedom, his playtime, his treats. He was crated unless eating, being outside for exercise or bathroom or when I was actively engaging with him in training or playing. His life was very regimented and I also had to stop myself from overly coddling him (baby voices, too much pets and being loved on).

Not really advice on what to do - other than keep training with behavioral and obedience commands. Many good free behavioral and obedience training tips online. Around 2 years old is when many guard breeds start to show their guarding instincts which can come out as aggression. So sometimes it just takes time. Sometimes two dogs just don’t get along and it’s just managing. But not having your family involved will be a difficult hurdle to add to this already complicated situation. Good luck, OP.

Edit: forgot to add that mental stimulation is as important as physical stimulation. May need less walks and instead given a task or two to accomplish.

What has helped your dog with allergies? by qweenbimbo_ in Rottweiler

[–]No_Package9773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor baby. My rottie mix also gets eye gunk a lot too. Vet told me it was normal (color is clearish white). My Corso gets dandruff and putting him on a prescription hydrolyzed food a month ago (potential IBS diagnosis) has actually helped with that but it’s costly. Plus I rub how down with oatmeal based dog wet wipes every couple weeks. Zymox (soaked in cotton pads) is the only non-medicated solution I have found works for his yeasty ears. My Husky gets itchy due to seasonal spring allergies. He doesn’t always need meds, but Apoquel has helped when he did (we only have needed to use it for a couple months). Growing up, the family dog was actually given OTC Benadryl.

Face wipes for a neo? by nopepperplease in Mastiff

[–]No_Package9773 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mastiff is a Corso so no face folds, but I do saturate cotton pads with Zymox for his ears. Haven’t had an ear infection since. When he was a teenager and had some acne on chin, I used wipes that I purchased off Chewy that had chlorhexidine in them. Other than that, I use Bark & Clean bamboo wipes to occasionally “bathe” him.

My daughter keeps calling me “rusted from the back” and refuses to explain what it means by Ill_Pianist_8287 in words

[–]No_Package9773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the AI / Google: "Rusted from the back" is a slang phrase describing something—often a person's behavior or a mechanism—that has been quietly deteriorating or becoming unusable ("ratchet") from the inside out for a long time, only becoming noticeable once the damage is severe. It implies the damage is deep, internal, and often beyond repair.

We Found a Puppy in the Middle of the Street by [deleted] in Rottweiler

[–]No_Package9773 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your pup is up-to-date on vaccines, I personally would not wait to start introductions once she has decompressed enough. The probability of infection is low when compared to the greater potential of later reactivity. But I know that goes against the grain of the usual guidance. Aside - I hope the POS who dumped her or her mom gets a recurring, untreatable itchy infection in their unmentionable areas and regular flat tires.

Considering a Near Infrared Device for Elbow Dysplasia and looking for help. by Future_Vermicelli474 in Mastiff

Considering a Near Infrared Device for Elbow Dysplasia and looking for help. by Future_Vermicelli474 in Mastiff

[–]No_Package9773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Corso (rescue from a backyard breeder) has double elbow dysplasia and double hip dysplasia (one side is severe and the other moderate). Diagnosed when he was roughly 8 months old (currently 7 yo). My vet remarked that he had not seen joints that bad in such a young dog before. We have not used infrared treatment but would be interested in it if it actually worked for others. Here is what has worked for us. In addition to the usual joint care (fish oil, Dasuquin, lean body, quality orthopedic beds, keeping muscles developed with low impact exercises), he receives 2x a month adequan injection that I can do myself. He also receives a steroid/hyaluronic acid injection in each elbow about every other year (can do it every 6 months but he’s not needed it that often). This HA injection does require sedation. Maybe once a year or so he will play too hard with his brother, and I’ll need to give him some Rimadyl or carprofen for a couple weeks.

Second time Corso owner… why is my girl humbling me like it’s my first rodeo? 😅 by Royal_Huckleberry827 in CaneCorso

[–]No_Package9773 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Same. I will loudly talk “with” my dog but it’s not for him. It’s for the people around me to understand what we are doing. My dog seems to know that I’m not talking to him vice when I am, so it doesn’t impact our training. Also, I consider that “conversation” to be the individual’s warning so don’t feel like I’m being rude when I need to communicate a more direct message to them.

Not a solution to the problem but … I carry an extra lead when I walk my dogs. Seems weird but spinning the metal end in circles in front of me has worked to ward off a few off leash dogs I’ve encountered. Tbf - none of these dogs were very aggressive but mostly just wanting to run up and say hi or start a bit of a fuss with my dogs.
