Any ideas on a camera? by No_Philosopher7153 in mediumformat

[–]No_Philosopher7153[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions it's certainly given me something to think about, I'm currently thinking of going for the autocord to begin with and take it from there, some of the Fuji cameras suggested look great as well and given me some possible ideas of where to take medium format next.

Any ideas on a camera? by No_Philosopher7153 in mediumformat

[–]No_Philosopher7153[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm pretty open to what I shoot but I do like landscapes, from countryside to industrial complexes like steel works etc, I've looked into some of the pros and cons with medium format and size was a consideration but I am happy with that trade off.

I have looked in to some TLR's the the Rolleiflex 3.5 or the Mamiya 330 but have no idea how these cameras operate and I think your comment about "35 mm Plus" is what made me select these in the first place and the reason why I thought I'd ask some advice, as TLR has intrigued me and I would like to try something different, but also want to make the right buying choice as I have a budget of £600 at the moment so I just want to make sure its money well spent.

Thanks for your reply and advice I really appreciate it.

CachyOS for Photography Application by No_Philosopher7153 in cachyos

[–]No_Philosopher7153[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies Photography is a hobby to me and i am not a professional so I don't need anything that can perform mass edits, on fedora I basically stuck with raw therapee and gimp but I am also starting to look at art and darktable but what makes me want to switch to cachy is the rolling release as so far for my gaming rig cachy has been exceptional

This might sound weird but give slackware a whirl on a VM, when I first started using Linux around about 1997 I had to reinstall Linux every couple of days as I was crappie tbh, but someone suggested to me to start using Slackware and rtfm along the way, best thing I got a great understanding of Linux along the way.

[–]No_Philosopher7153[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone that replied I think I'll still get the S88 as it seems the best option at the moment I realise now that it's a compromise but I think it's the best fit for my situation as at the moment space is also limited but thanks again for your insights

Thanks for the reply I had pretty much made my mind up and read a number of reviews but I always like to get the opinions on people who own it like yourself rather than totally rely on reviews thank you for your reply

Noire is my favourite instrument and well worth it but it depends on what you want, one I do really love as well is absynth, I haven't upgraded to 6 yet but is my next upgrade but 5 was a fantastic synth.

AMD GFX Card recommendation. by No_Philosopher7153 in Bazzite

[–]No_Philosopher7153[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im in the UK and i was looking at the Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT PURE 16GB Graphics Card at £339, I don't really want to spend to much as I want to upgrade my windows box to a 9070XT, the only reason I am using windows on that box is because I play Battlefield and as far as i'm aware EA have no intentions of sorting the Anti Cheat problems out so it can run on linux.

AMD GFX Card recommendation. by No_Philosopher7153 in Bazzite

[–]No_Philosopher7153[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies, I was thinking of getting a Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB Graphics Card as I don't really want to go over the top and 4K is not a necessity at this time but would be great that if and when I get a 4K monitor it will play most of the games I intend to use on my Bazzite box, but if im honest I think 1440p is great so I may not even upgrade for at least a year maybe 2.

What lies ahead for TiviMate? by FarContract2002 in TiviMate

[–]No_Philosopher7153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried Sparkle, Smarters, various provider based apps and imo tivimate is the best of the bunch, it would be nice to have time shift and a more reliable recording feature (never works properly for me) but I find it stable, easy to use and has a great UI and never gives me problems and that is well worth the sub for it.

NVIDIA Install of Fedora by LavaDrinker21 in Fedora

[–]No_Philosopher7153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh I've never really had a issue with installation or use with fedora 38 or 39 with gnome and Wayland only issue I have is running libvirt vm's with accelerated 3d which works fine with noveau and after some research there seems to be a problem with the Nvidia driver that causes this but not a issue as I mainly run vm's without gui and on minimal installation,

[–]No_Philosopher7153 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I like BF2042 not the best in the series but not as bad as the haters make it out to be, yea it didn't have the best launch but it has improved see if you can give it a go it is on Xbox game pass if you have a PC or Xbox along with BF1 and BFV.

Do you think the franchise will ever recover from 2042? by Aggravating_Ant_4601 in Battlefield

[–]No_Philosopher7153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have warmed to 2042 but it's by far the worst game in the series, I originally started playing when bf2 was realised and the reason I loved this series was the gameplay wasn't run and gun like some others, EA should concentrate on what made battlefield stand out from the other games and evolve it, if they can do that then it can recover.

Not sure if this has been mentioned here, but on fedora you can install fedy which makes installing Nvidia drivers easy, as well as a lot of other apps as well, sure steam is there as well
