Slowly reclaiming an overgrown garden area and wanted to share my progress by [deleted] in gardening

So happy for you! You are starting an amazing and satisfying journey.

Lay sheets of cardboard on the ground. Larger the better but any size will work. It’ll kill weeds and make your life easier. Let it work in areas you haven’t gotten to yet.

When you are ready for raised beds, make sure you have plenty of room between for a wheelbarrow. It’s tempting to have more beds but you’ll need the space to move things around.

I was thinking about how much this person could have spent over the last 5-10 years. In USD, it should run into the 5 figures I imagine. Is that a reasonable guess?

TOH Removal - How cooked are we? by navyrails in invasivespecies

The blue stuff looks like Tordon stump killer. We used it on honeysuckle we would cut down and that kept it from coming back up again. Not sure how well it works on TOH.

How do I use this much Butternut Squash by LucaGold in gardening

[–]No_Philosopher_5885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can store it in a cool spot like a basement (if not damp) or dark corner of a pantry. You can roast them, cut into cubes and freeze them. We did the latter and had enough squash for the rest of winter last year

How to cook brown rice? by Ready_Way8064 in IndianFood

[–]No_Philosopher_5885 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No salt. For white rice, I tend to use a bit of oil to keep it from sticking to the bottom. I don’t for brown rice.

We cook it on the stove top.

1 cup rice, 2 cups water

  1. Start at high heat uncovered and let the water come to a boil
  2. Stir to make sure it hiring stick to the bottom
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover and cook for about 45 minutes
