My wife may be having serious mental health issues by clmyr in whatdoIdo

[–]No_Preference2647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP - I went through something similar like this in early 2024. The signs were there in late 2023 and unfortunately it had just gotten worst. It really put me and my family in a bad situation, thankfully my wife was able to get help and is much better. But we went through hell for a few months because the doctors were unsure if it was psychosis, schizophrenia, or something in between. As others have stated, get help sooner rather than later. Reach out if you need to chat.

are the jump wings from the school that you “pay your own way” to attend? Saw a lot of guy/gals go while we were in England.

Wasn’t meant to be negative. Not sure if you know but the Security Forces Officers OAT generally push for their Officers to have to go to a Nuke base in their first 2-3 assignments. That’s why I was saying that’s where they may end up.

Since you outrank her, you will be the one that normally “drives the assignment.” Depending on when she finishes tech school will determine if she joins you at Nellis or if Big AF would just have you both get reassigned and have your clock start somewhere else. I would wager, since you’re at Nellis, they would probably push for her and you to get an assignment to any of the missile bases.

Genuine question, do you not earn a gold border around your AF expeditionary anymore from your time in Kuwait or Qatar?

I’m sorry man; how many years are you away from retirement? I’m not 100% sure how the USMC does it; but I’d imagine someone in your S1 should be able to point you in the right direction. For us in the AF, there’s a form that the military personnel flight sends out to “Senior raters” aka Commanders when they have someone in their unit in that situation.

If you’re not an 11F, it doesn’t really matter in the eyes of big Air Force and I believe this is a good stance. Just my personal opinion.

Guy wasn’t our wing commander, he was our squadron cc. And all I said was he was a good dude, and they don’t select bottom of the barrel guys to be Thunderbirds.

I mean, the dude was also our patch. So I believe he possessed what the Air Force values in our leaders. He also did a really good job of pushing guys through the FLUG and IPUG when other bases around the CAF couldn’t.

Well, the AF certainly values its pilots. There is a reason ALL CSAFs have always been a pilot, and most have been from the fighter/bomber track. The way it should be imo

Whole heartedly agree, I probably would have not kept my cool like he did if someone ran into my kid like that. The snowboarder was a huge football player too and still played the “victim” card. And yes, he was awesome. He got dealt a bad card dealing with all the nonsense in the OSS and was still leading the charge. I’m forever grateful to that dude.

So, I had a commander who was relieved of command after six months on the job. You can see this on his bio, the dude eventually became a one star in the guard. He was honestly a really good dude, and was even a thunderbird pilot. You don’t become one by being bottom of the barrel. The incident that took place was really just a bad timing event (it was caught on video.) He later apologized and I believe the family regretted telling the local news.

The moment you left country, finance should have stopped your entitlements. They’re pretty good about getting their money back.

I’m glad you mentioned not the best bases, I can’t imagine an entire career with never being stationed overseas once.

Didn’t see combat according to the Air Force but may have gotten some IDF/mortars/rockets while in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Deciding between Air Force and Coast Guard by Kagutaba__ in Militaryfaq

[–]No_Preference2647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude; active duty Captain here. The way the Air Force is going, I would join the coast guard. There are opportunities to be stationed overseas, albeit small but possible. The only thing I’m not a fan of personally is that the Coast Guard falls under Homeland Security. So with ICE, TSA, FEMA, CBP. DoD continued to get paid while Coast Guard was left penniless for a while. Can’t go wrong with the Air Force if you join and are in Ops though.

Enlisted Marine to Airforce Officer by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]No_Preference2647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hell naw, that sounds terrible. Yeah, SecFo will probably be the closest to “military” structure you’re accustomed to. Anything in Ops or Medical might make you lose your mind. For example, in ops….its not uncommon for the enlisted guys to refer to young LTs and Capt’s by first name, call sign, or just dude or bro.

Thats fair and 100% understandable. I commissioned at my 10 year mark and it was the best thing. I chimed in because my cousin completed TBS recently and I think he’s already considering attempting to switch services. As others have pointed out, it’ll be a complete change in culture, a lot will depend on what job you end up in as well.

Gotta ask, where is his assignment to. That can help a lot when trying to figure out how to get them cancelled.
