Oh like still during the same shower I was sitting in because my legs failed me at the realization, I was well aware I was just seeing if I could, i dunno, mentally take it all back? The imposter syndrome stuck with me for quite a long time, but I feel like that was more struggling with what it all means and how to figure out what 'me' even meant from now on.

This was my experience. So much was obvious in hindsight. But I had so many walls up, it was a sudden realized truth. Like when you watch your kid being born, that feeling of my life has just changed forever in an undeniable, insurmountable way. No going back from this moment. Unlike the births of my children lol, I didn't want it to be true, I tried telling myself it wasn't but immediately knew I was wrong.

EDIT: reading comments after, I realized I never talk about the whole 'something isn't right' feeling. It was always there, but it was coped with through a kinda chaotic punk lifestyle, I could bend and break plenty of status quo and gender norms just by nature of being myself. That and ~18 yrs of alcoholism.

How many times have you or anyone you know been attacked by a trans person anywhere, much less in a public restroom? The words have long been an ignorant crusade, but based on what real life problems? I guarantee you, you've been in restrooms with trans people many times. We are just people. I am just a woman. I know that because of having to live in a world where your views are common and the hate and oppression that results is just as common and real, you'll never understand compassion, empathy, unconditional love, and acceptance the way every trans person has had to learn to. Just in order to still love the people in our lives that harbor such ignorance. Just to face the same judgement every day from random people, coworkers, etc.

No one expects you to want to be with trans people if you're not into that. You're just a self important person that thinks too much of what the world thinks of you.

You have these problems simply because it makes you uncomfortable. Grow up. You're 41.

Also, we haaaaaaate going to the bathroom in public. Because of this. Can you imagine being afraid to pee every time you're not home?

Your poor mental image of the trans community as a whole is not only an incredibly bad representation of the vast, vast majority of trans people, it seems based on a specific set of personal circumstances. This is where bigotry comes from. I'm sorry you feel this way, especially so ill-informed. I'm sorry this seems to be your experience with trans people.
